Alexander Yakovlevich Rosenbaum (September 13, 1951) - famous Russian singer, singer-songwriter, poet and literary figure. Since 1996 he has been an Honored Artist Russian Federation, and in 2001 he received the title of People's Artist.

Childhood

Alexander Yakovlevich was born on September 13 in Leningrad. His father and mother met each other while still students of the 1st Medical Institute. Immediately after graduation educational institution they played a wedding and after some time left for the city of Zyryanovsk, located in Eastern Kazakhstan. There, being physicians, they got a job in a city hospital: father as a urologist, and mother as an obstetrician-gynecologist. It was there, in Zyryanovsk, that Alexander's older brother, Vladimir Rosenbaum, was born.

After six years of stable work in the hospital, the Rosenbaum family decides to move to Leningrad, as the hospital is slowly starting to empty and there is no longer a need for a large number of specialists. Realizing that sooner or later they will be laid off, Alexander's parents move to Leningrad, where their second son is born - the future singer and songwriter.

Alexander's musical abilities and talent began to manifest themselves at the age of five. Parallel to general education school he enrolls in a music school, where he learns to play the piano. Prominent teachers of that time become his teachers, so a year later, under the guidance of Larisa Ioffe and Maria Glushenko, Rosenbaum begins to show incredible musical abilities, participating in numerous competitions. In addition, he also learns to play the guitar from his neighbor, the talented Mikhail Aleksandrovich Minin, who, at the request of his parents, takes up teaching the young genius all the basics.

Youth

After elementary school, Alexander Yakovlevich is transferred to an educational institution on Vitebsky Prospekt, as his parents want their son to learn languages. So Rosenbaum ends up in a school with in-depth study French, which, by the way, was never given to him because of his passion for music. Alexander often missed classes, and while in the classroom, he sat and composed his own compositions, paying absolutely no attention to the teachers.

At the same time, sport appears in the life of young Sasha. On the advice of friends, he enrolls in the figure skating section, from which he leaves a month later, and then - in the boxing section "Labor Reserves", but even there he does not linger, preferring music to any occupation. By this point, that Alexander has truly huge musical ability everyone already knows: the singer's friends, his school teachers and even neighbors. He plays the guitar at home, at a party, in the yard, at amateur performances and school competitions, and declares about himself that he was "literally born with a guitar in his hands."

However, music for a long time remained for Rosenbaum only a hobby and a pleasant pastime. At the insistence of his parents, in 1968 he entered the 1st Medical Institute in Leningrad. It doesn’t work for a talented guy to finish his education the first time: he is expelled a year later, and then by accident (he is confused with another student who did not pass the session on time). When the mistake is found out, it is already too late to re-submit documents, as Alexander receives a summons from the military registration and enlistment office.

But, fortunately, he was never taken into the army due to minor vision problems, so a year later the young man restores documents to the institute and continues his studies until 1974. He graduated from a higher educational institution with the specialty of a general practitioner and almost immediately after the institute he goes to work at the First Substation, located not far from the educational institution.

Musical career

Despite the fact that at the time of entering the institute, Rosenbaum had already created songs own composition, professionally, he decided to devote himself to music only in 1980. AT different time he participates in such ensembles as "Argonauts", "Admiralty", "Pulse" and "Six Young", performing everywhere under the pseudonym "Ayarov" (from his initials). However, Rosenbaum does not find in any of the musical groups what he was looking for when going into the world of music, so he does not stay long in any of the ensembles.

As solo artist Alexander Yakovlevich began performing already in 1983, actively participating in city musical events, most of which were held in the House of Cult of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after Derzhinsky. There, for the first time, he performs such compositions as “Romance of General Chernoty”, “Song of the Horse of Gypsy Blood”, “On the Don, on the Don”, “Prophetic Fate”, “Oh, if it were possible ...”, “I often wake up in silence " and many others.

Popular recognition came to Rosenbaum at the same time. His songs had different meanings and were absolutely dedicated to various topics. Alexander Yakovlevich was keenly interested in post-revolutionary Russia of the 20th century, devoted compositions to gypsy customs and Cossacks, wrote philosophical and lyrical songs, as well as compositions supporting military personnel. By the way, Rosenbaum often spoke with charity concerts in military units and even traveled several times to Afghanistan.

musical style

Today, Alexander Yakovlevich Rosenbaum is known to millions of listeners around the world, and this success was achieved not only thanks to the talent of the singer, but also to the original musical style, which remains with him from the very beginning of his professional career on stage.

Rosenbaum always performed his songs on the Russian seven-string (a kind of guitar that lacks a fifth string, which is why it was called OPEN G). The only exception was one of Alexander's performances with the Zhemchuzhny brothers, when he used a twelve-string guitar to perform. The rest of the time, the singer-songwriter uses only a bright and effective playing on the Russian seven-string with several beat rhythms. By the way, Alexander Yakovlevich is one of the few musicians who does not use a plectrum during a performance, which makes the compositions more alive and the sound much richer.

Personal life

Family life started at Rosenbaum very early. Like his parents, he met his first love while still a student at the 1st Medical Institute. However, unlike the previous generation, the young did not wait until graduation and got married 2 months after they met.

As a result, nine months later, the marriage broke up, and Alexander fell in love with a work colleague, Elena Viktorovna Savshinsky, a radiologist at the First Substation, where Rosenbaum went to work immediately after graduating from a medical institute. In 1976, Alexander and Elena had a daughter, Anna.

Rosenbaum as a poet and musician

Alexander Rosenbaum - composer, author-performer of his own songs. Many of his early songs belong to the genre of thieves song, and their hero - classic look Odessa raider of the NEP times. This image was compiled based on Odessa stories» Isaac Babel. A number of his early songs are also associated with the work of a doctor.

Also, his work is characterized by an interest in the history of Russia in the post-revolutionary years of the 20th century (“Romance of General Charnota”), gypsy themes (for example, the songs “Song of a horse of gypsy blood”, “Oh, if it were possible ...”) and the Cossacks (“Cossack”, "Kuban Cossack", "On the Don, on the Don"). There are among his songs and philosophical lyrics ("Prophetic Fate"). The military theme is also not bypassed, in which most of the songs are associated with the Great Patriotic War(“I often wake up in silence”, “Take me, dad, to the war ...”, etc.), maritime theme("38 knots", "Song of the old destroyer"). A special part of the work is devoted to the war in Afghanistan (“Black Tulip Pilot's Monologue”, “Caravan”, “Lifelong Road”). The singer often visited the locations of Soviet military units, giving concerts in Afghanistan.

Although Alexander Rosenbaum writes his songs almost exclusively for the Russian seven-string (he plays in the seven-string guitar without a fifth string, such a system is called OPEN G) guitars, early thieves' songs were performed by him under the classical "chanson" arrangement (in particular, at several concerts together with the Zhemchuzhny brothers). Feature Rosenbaum's performances - spectacular playing on a twelve-string guitar, always using paired metal strings, giving the instrument a bright, timbre-rich sound. He uses several varieties of guitar strumming. Rosenbaum's poems are replete with specific vocabulary (technical, hunting, military, prison, etc.). During his career, Rosenbaum gained the greatest popularity in 1985-1990 as a singer of the "Afghan" (and also Leningrad) theme. After the collapse of the USSR, Jewish, Israeli motifs appeared in Rosenbaum's work. Rosenbaum has a certain stage charm, attractiveness, has a strong masculine voice of a baritone nature.

All-Union popularity in the late 1980s was the song "Waltz-Boston" with an original melody and complex harmony, replete with altered triads. This song was performed both by the author himself and by many vocalists; there are numerous instrumental arrangements.

In form, Rosenbaum's work is close to the genre of the author's (bard's) song. However, while the bard song in Soviet years was a hermit, a pop pariah, spreading only on homemade tapes, Rosenbaum enjoyed official recognition and gave concerts as an artist of the Lenconcert long before the collapse Soviet Union and the abolition of censorship. In the anthology "Author's Song" (compiled by Dmitry Sukharev), his name is not mentioned.

At first, he did not like to study at all, but since he did not want to argue with his parents, he continued to attend classes at a music school. He studied both violin and piano. But as a teenager, the boy learned to play the guitar himself, at that time he began to write his first poems.

Interestingly, Alexander's younger brother, Vladimir, is also a doctor by education. For a long time he worked as a doctor at the ambulance station.

Alexander Rosenbaum about working as a doctor and studying: “It was as natural for me to enter a medical school after school as it was for the son of a career officer to be in a military school. My mom and dad are doctors. The continuation of the dynasty in such families is a normal phenomenon. Over the years, however, I dreamed of being both a geologist and a professional hunter, I wanted to be closer to nature and animals, but when it came time to decide on a profession, I quite consciously took the documents to the medical one. And my parents did not raise any questions about my future. I was born into a family of graduate students of the first medical school and literally grew up in a hospital. In the house, all the talk was only about medicine, all the friends of my parents were doctors ... Well, what profession could I choose?

Musical career of Alexander Rosenbaum

While working as an ambulance doctor, Alexander managed to study at an evening jazz school, in addition, he began to intensively write songs. A few years later, Rosenbaum left medicine - to the stage. At first he performed as part of various groups: "Admiralty", "Argonauts", VIA "Six Young", "Pulse", then he began to sing solo and soon rose to the rank of leader theater studio"Creative workshop of Alexander Rosenbaum". Soon the audience began to come to the bard's concerts, and Rosenbaum turned into popular singer and songwriter. At one time he was even called the second Vysotsky, but he was categorically against any comparisons.

Alexander Rosenbaum: “In the regional party committee, and maybe even in the Central Committee, they thought: Rosenbaum should not exist. Not in newspapers, not in concert announcements. That is, it was possible to speak, but writing a surname on posters was considered indecent. I also did not intend to become the second Vysotsky. We are all different! Music, poetry, voices! He is a Muscovite, I am from St. Petersburg. And I don't consider myself a bard either. These people, for the most part, come to the song from poetry; things are not going well for them with music. I came to the song from music, began to write poetry, and today, I dare to hope, I can be called a poet. Good or bad is another question. I started as a vocalist, performing other people's works. Covered the entire repertoire of the Beatles, great amount Soviet songs. But today, none of the serious musicians will tell you what genre I belong to. I don't even know this myself. I have jazz (“Waltz-Boston”), rock ballads, rock and roll, romances, “symphonies” performed on the piano ... And there is “Gop-stop” - a song that is called thieves or street. So, most likely, my genre is Rosenbaum. And I want to be called just an artist."

In the late 80s of the twentieth century, Alexander, who during this decade recorded such albums as "Home Concert" (1981), "In Memory of Arkady Severny" (1982), "Dedication to the Initiators" and "New Songs", "Concert in Vorkuta" (1984), "Epitaph" and "My Yards" (1986), "Draw a House for Me", "Lifelong Road", "Concert at LOMO" and "New York Concert" (all - 1987), "Cossack Songs "and" Anathema "(1988), wrote one of his most famous songs- "Waltz-Boston", which is characterized by complex harmony and interesting melody.

Alexander Rosenbaum: “I came to the stage at the age of 30 with a diploma from the medical institute, an emergency doctor. But in fact - Soviet employees in good sense this word. That is, as I went out for a shift from eight in the morning to eight in the evening, so I still go out to work. Only now to the stage. I don't know how to walk over corpses, I don't know how to intrigue. For me, backstage scandals about who will close the concert, who will sing how many songs ... I sincerely do not understand a 22-year-old girl who hires a squad of bodyguards, probably afraid that fans will rip off her outfits. Yes, not the mentality of our people! They don't have it in their genes! They recognize you - good, no - it's okay. But why do you need six men with pistols? Who needs you? .. I don’t know why we need 18 towels in the dressing room and cognac on demand. Have you seen enough foreign films, read about Western stars? .. I don’t want to offend my colleagues who are striving to make our show business civilized, but for me it is still ridiculous and disgusting in many ways.

In the nineties, Rosenbaum recorded a number of albums that his fans loved - “Gop-stop”, “Nostalgia”, “Hot Ten”, “Slow Schizophrenia”, “Pink Pearl”, “On the Plantations of Love”, “Return to Argo” , "Trans-Siberian Railway" and others. Then the singer was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

So, he more than once became a guest of the media performance "Evening Urgant", performed in the programs " Superstar"(2010), where for the first time in his career he happened to change his habitual stage costume and change clothes for each number, experimenting and trying on different images: with a Cossack saber, in a soldier’s overcoat, in a driver’s suit or, for example, a dashing robber, “Guess the melody”, “Property of the Republic”, “Alone with everyone”, etc. In 2014, Rosenbaum joined the main team of judges music show" Three chords", Where he appeared in the second season (2017), and then in the third (2018).

Alexander Rosenbaum: “I won’t hide it, it’s nice to be acquainted with the president, but, believe me, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin interests me no longer as the head of state, but as my peer, with whom we grew up at the same time, in the same area , in neighboring streets. Let Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin not be offended by me, but I did not seek to get to know him when he was president. We are from different times. I am friends with Boris Vsevolodovich Gromov not as with the governor of the Moscow region, but as with my close comrade, brother, fellow soldier, if you like. And I will be friends, in whatever position he may be.
