To do this, you need to learn and know the basics of anatomy and physiology. Very often, children draw parts of the body and the figures themselves in a very simplified way, one might say, in an amateurish way. Stage 1. Draw the caracas lines of the human hand. First we will teach you how to draw a human hand from the elbow to the fingertips. We build a straight line .. Stage 2. Now we draw the middle and index fingers of the brush. Along auxiliary lines we give the contours of the phalanges of the fingers. The hand is slightly bent, as if a person wants to take or hold something. Then we will finish the last, thumb. And further. On the fingers and palms, we will show bumps on the skin, depressions and tubercles, skin folds.

Stage 4. Now let's try to draw a separate human hand. We build additional initial wireframe lines like this. Select a point on a sheet of paper. We remove three features from it in different sides. At the end of the third line we put a point, and from it we draw segments connected to each other. It is like a skeleton of future fingers. We outline the hand itself with smooth lines around these straight lines to the finger zone. The brush is bent down. Then. Let's draw the thumb. First, we will show its thickened part, then the phalanges of the finger itself and the line of connection with the index finger. Then draw the index finger and middle finger hands, outlining the skeletal lines of the starting point of this drawing.

Stage 5. We finish the ring finger and little finger. They are barely visible because of the front toes. We show the folds on the skin, tubercles, bulges and bumps on the brush. Then we delete all the sketch lines and leave only the necessary ones. We colorize the hand, shading some areas (the play of light and shadows). If you do not take into account the face of a person, then most of all the emotions of a person are conveyed by the position of his hands. Proportions

General ratios

An interesting fact is that the hand is a bit like a shoulder blade, which consists of two parts of the metacarpus and fingers.

The length of the fingers is equal to the length of the pastern.

This ratio must be observed. The drawing of a hand can be started from a schematic designation of its shape, and a line to show the line separating the brush into two equal parts.

How to draw a blooming iris

The length of the entire brush can be quite different. There are people with short and long fingers and, accordingly, a square or elongated hand.

Fingers

Movable and flexible fingers are made up of joints. The bones of the metacarpus are the largest and longest, the joints of the fingers are attached to them. Each subsequent phalanx is smaller and thinner than the previous one.

The hands of our hands are arranged according to the principle of the golden section, because women's hands so attract the views of surrounding men. The proportions of the phalanges are in the ratio of 2/3 of the length of the previous phalanx.

The picture below shows the first phalanx in red, the second in orange, and the third in yellow.

All fingers except the thumb consist of four joints: three phalanges and one joint in the metacarpus. Thumb set aside, slightly turned in relation to the rest of the fingers and consists of three joints. Its length usually reaches the middle of the first phalanx index finger.

Draw a human figure

Length little finger almost reaches the bend of the last phalanx of the ring finger. This is shown in the illustration above.

Directions

If you carefully observe the hands different people, there will be another common feature, which must also be taken into account in your sketches. If we outline the brush on top with one line, we get small semicircle, the top of which is the middle finger.

Pay attention to the inside and outside of the palm. If we draw a conditional line at the base of the fingers, we will also see a small arc that goes from the index finger and goes down to the little finger.

In the illustration below, this is indicated by red arrows. You can draw a hand, starting from the mitten, which is shown in the corner brown, immediately outlining all directions.

The pads and folds on the inside of the palm also have one common direction, they seem to descend from index finger to little finger.

Fist

Some more information about the directions that will help you more quickly and correctly depict the brush. Let's say you need to depict a brush clenched into a fist. Evenly bent fingers again form a kind of arc, with general direction"down to pinky".

Pay attention to the upper part of the illustration - a small hand drawn in brown. Here is a diagram showing how the the width of the fingers in each subsequent phalanx, keep this in mind and do not forget to show in your work. Compare the lengths of the red, orange and green segments.

A fold forms on the outer side of the hand clenched into a fist, under the little finger, it is underlined by a small green arc in the illustration above. By designating it, you will be able to create more realistic image hands holding something or gathered into a fist, etc.

Important Details

The picture below shows how the skeleton of the hand looks like. The joints at the junction are slightly wider and thicker. We need to understand this in order to know how to draw a hand realistically. This is especially true for the hands of the elderly and thin people. If we look at the hand in profile, we will see that the outer side is quite flat, only the knuckles protrude. The inner one, on the contrary, is soft, there is a protruding pad under each phalanx. Under the first phalanx there are two “pads”, one under the joint is especially large and stands out well for everyone.

Before drawing the hand, decide on the position of the forearm and wrist. To start, let's take the simplest example, use your brush as a nature, and do not redraw the picture below.

Difficult angles

In this lesson, I suggest you draw a hand in its classic position - unclenched fingers, palm down. Perhaps you need to draw a hand clenched into a fist or a hand with the palm up. Or draw connecting hands, as in the background image. In any case, this lesson will help you draw hands. Drawing a hand is very convenient, because with one hand you draw, and with the other you can sketch. First, study your hand carefully, pay attention to the length of the fingers, all proportions. You can even outline the outline of the hand if you are going to draw it in full size.

1. Marking the contour of the hand


Indeed, if you need draw a hand on the entire sheet of paper, it is easier to outline the outline of your hand, and then, using some of the tips from this lesson, just add small parts. 6. How to draw a hand. Shadows


In humans, the knuckles of the hands have "wrinkles" or folds that stretch when the fingers are squeezed, make these areas darker. The hand has two volumetric bulges: one is at the base of the thumb (B), the second is the palm (the rest of the hand) (A). Double rows of finger bones, or carpal bones, are connected to the hand, creating one whole. The wrist does not exist separately, and it is not attached to the hand with a ball-and-socket joint, as in wooden dolls. The movement of the hand starts from the wrist. It narrows slightly at the junction with the forearm. The wrist can also be considered a universal connector because it moves in all directions - up and down, side to side, and can rotate.


The center of the palm is slightly lower than the rest of the hand. For example, if you put your straightened arm on the table with your palm down, you will notice that the wrist does not touch the surface of the table. You will notice that the wrist rises where it joins the hand.

The area of ​​the thumb is much larger than the area at the base of the little finger. The hand is wider at the base of the fingers than at the junction with the wrist: however, closer to the wrist it is higher. Now pay attention to your hand: the palm is longer than its reverse side. The thumb is attached to the palm by an independent and highly mobile ball-and-socket joint, which allows it to actively move independently of the rest of the hand. The palm consists of elastic and soft areas - pillows. The surface of the fingers and the entire palm are covered with many pads. The fingertips are pointed, the middle finger - the longest - is the most high point brushes. The pads at the fingertips are pointed so that they go in the middle - towards the middle finger. If you measure the length of the thumb from the top side, it will be equal to the length of the middle finger. The thumb is more powerful than the rest. The component parts of the fingers are more square in shape than it might seem at first glance, on last square the nail is located, almost triangular in shape, with bulges on both sides, forming a place for the growth of the nail. You will better remember the structure of the hand if you study the structure of the skeleton of the hand, after which problems with drawing the hand will never arise again.


Knowledge of the structure of the joints, their movement and limitation in movement is very important. The first joint of the thumb and the first two joints of the remaining fingers are articulated. They can only move up and down, but not sideways and rotationally. When the fingers are spread apart, the uppermost knuckles of each finger arch back. The lower knuckles of the fingers will lean forward, while the upper knuckles or fingertips cannot be bent even at right angles. Note that the top two articulated joints can only be bent at 90 degrees. The lower joints of the fingers, as well as on the wrist, are spherical. There are many hand positions and structures for you to learn. Even when you are drawing, you can use your free hand as a model. Put a mirror in front of you and it will give you more possibilities learn the positions of your free hand.

These tricks are the poses and expressions that you will use much more often than others, as well as certain hairstyles and clothes that you will be able to draw best. It is quite widespread and professional artists resort to this secret all the time!


However, this is very difficult to achieve in hand drawings! Let's take the head as an example. The only moving part there is the lower jaw. We can change facial expressions, but the eyes, nose and mouth remain in their places (at least in real life!) With the hand, everything is different. With any new movement of the brush, everything changes radically. In fact, in a scene with dialogue, facial expressions may barely change, but the hands will move very actively and at different angles.

The goal of this activity is to turn a human hand into a cartoon hand, so let's not waste time learning the names of the bones and muscles of the hand. 1. Hand in its most simplified form

The hand is made up of a variety of bones, especially in the fingers. This means that all fingers are of different sizes and can bend in different directions. For this reason, it is important that you learn how to draw the hand in the most simplistic way possible and be able to look at it like a small puzzle with several key pieces. Let's try to divide it into blocks:

Let's start with the back of the hand. Let's draw a simple semicircle:

Now let's draw a triangle that is attached to one of its sides. Like this:

The more "childish" your drawing style is, the simpler and smoother your lines will be. Here are my little secrets that helped me understand that hands can be drawn based on simplified shapes. The most important thing is to strive for a style that will reflect the personality and dynamics in the drawings in the final stage.

3. More shapes and 3D hand

Now you can draw flat hand for the rest of your life, right? If you want to draw hands with convincing depth, use the same technique above, just change the camera angle! Play with this technique until you feel confident.



To form the fingers, imagine them as cylinders stacked one on top of the other. This technique will help us to draw the fingers from different angles, as it makes it easier to "see" the hand in space.


Hand or robot?

The forms into which a human hand can form are innumerable. When the palm is open, the same rules apply; when closed - others! The same thing happens when a hand holds an object, and it must adjust to its shape.

Let's learn how to draw a fist. Slightly different process, but at the end you will see that it all comes down to a simplified drawing of the main geometric shapes.


Step 1

To begin with, we simplify the fold of the little finger, draw something similar to the letter "y".


Step 2

We kind of "wrap" the little finger around the letter "u". Don't forget to highlight the curve that goes from the little finger to the wrist.


Step 3

We continue to draw fingers in space. This time we draw only three fingers. I'll explain why later.


Step 4

Lastly, draw the thumb and the protruding muscle at the base of the thumb.


Step 5

Good! In a few steps we have finished the simplified drawing of the fist on one side. See how, in rough outline, the shape of a fist can be depicted using "boxes" different sizes.


Notice how you can fit the contour of the fist into three-dimensional rectangular shapes in space.

Obviously, if we try to simplify each hand position with various techniques, we will quickly get tired. So remember that the real secret to simplifying hand drawing is real life observations.

4. Fab Four

It is widely accepted in animation to draw characters' hands with only four fingers. This allows, in addition to enhancing the dynamics of the character, to make life easier for the artist. That way he doesn't have to worry about too many details.

Note: When using this technique, you need to adapt your knowledge of the five-finger hand to the four-finger hand. Concepts need to be adapted to achieve a suitable and interesting result.

It is worth paying attention to the fingertips. In animation, the more rounded and mobile the fingertips are, the more interesting and dynamic they are. When you create characters, think of their hands as if they were separate characters!

Another good reason to draw hands with four fingers: in this case, you have the opportunity to increase the size of the fingers, which means making them more expressive! Whole line famous cartoon characters were able to stand out thanks to this technique: The Simpsons, Bugs Bunny, The Flintstones and Mickey Mouse.

Mystery of the little finger

One of the biggest secrets to this brush design is to make the most of your little finger! If you place it at a different angle in relation to the other fingers, you will break the monotony in the perception of the hand.




Select the position of the little finger in the frame. See how the character of the action changes with this technique. The viewer's attention is now focused on the main subject in the frame, and the personality of the character is given a special twist.

5. Talk with your hand

When we need to express emotions in an animated drawing, the role of hands is indispensable! Look at the images below: the hands visually support and mimic the facial expressions and body language of the characters.

However, often you will find yourself in a situation where the hands should not be a distraction. In this case, they must be minor character. Characters in action scenes tend to be exaggerated more than characters in quiet scenes.


Note that there is little movement in the dramatic scene. There is no room for exaggeration here. Hands should emphasize the feelings of the characters - this is one of the most complex processes in design.
