Differences between the Azov and Black Sea coasts

The waters of the Sea of Azov lie in the temperate climate zone, which contributes to temperature stability and does not cause sudden weather changes. The Black Sea coast, on the other hand, belongs to the climate of the subtropics, thanks to the mountainous landscape, which implies extremely changeable weather. In addition, the Azov Sea is very shallow, its maximum depth does not exceed 14 meters, while the depth of the Black Sea is more than 2 km, which largely determines the level of warming of water masses.

The advantages of Azov over the Black Sea coast lie in several planes. First of all, this is the widespread shallow water of Azov, which is rarely seen in relation to the Black Sea. It is distinguished by rather deep entries and usually a few meters are enough to get into the water up to the neck. On the Azov coast, you have to try very hard and swim far into the sea in order to reach the water to the level of your head. Due to the shallow depths, the waters of Azov warm up faster, while in the Black Sea it sometimes happens to get cold even on a hot day. It was the shallow water that made the Azov coast the best place for spending holidays with small children, who can be left near the sea without fear and let them enjoy swimming and splashing waves to their heart's content.

Holidays on the Sea of Azov are becoming more and more popular every summer. This sea is very shallow, evenly and quickly warms up, the bottom is sandy (the smallest particles of shells), like the beaches.

Ideal for families with small children. It also attracts lovers of fishing, as there are many estuaries and lakes in the immediate vicinity. Young people will also find entertainment for themselves here: most of the villages have a developed tourist and entertainment infrastructure, and excursions to the Lotus Valley or waterfalls will create a unique romance.

Where to go to the Sea of Azov with a child

Azov - the sea, ideal for children. Under the hot sun of the Kuban, it becomes warm already in early May, which is suitable for long walks along the coast in not too hot weather. At the end of June, the balance of air and water temperatures is optimal so that children can splash around in the coastal zone for a long time. Adults will be interested in the therapeutic silt mud of the Salt and Golubitskoye lakes, trips with a health purpose to the pseudo-volcanic mud hills in the village of Akhtanizovskaya.

Peresyp

The village of Peresyp is quite developed: there is a market, a supermarket, a pharmacy (although it works only on weekdays and only until lunch), a kiosk where you can buy tickets for various excursions, including waterfalls (to the Black Sea), a dolphinarium and Golubitskaya water park . Buses run from the village: every day according to the schedule from stops. You can get to Ilyich, and to Slavyansk-on-Kuban. The beach in Peresyp is sandy, made of small shells. During the high season, there are cafes on the beach and water activities are offered. Housing can be rented differently: from a comfortable room with a private kitchen to a room.

Kuchugury

Kuchugury is larger than Peresyp, therefore, there are also more shops and cafes here. The village is notable for its gorgeous long sandy beaches stretching in both directions: to Peresyp on one side and Priazovsky on the other. You can stay in a hotel or private household, also in a campsite near the sea, 50 meters from the water, or on one of the busy streets near the shops. Many vineyards grow near Kuchugurami. The central beach (free of charge) is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay: sun loungers, parasols and even swimming mattresses and circles are rented. From entertainment: "bananas", "tablets", boat trips on boats and catamarans, and for the most daring - parachuting. Lifeguards and a doctor work on the beach during the day.

Where to go to the Sea of Azov with a youth company

Golubitskaya

The most developed village in the resort plan of the Taman Peninsula. The beaches are wide, rather long, capable of accommodating many vacationers with a margin. Youth companies are expanse here: clubs, discos, many of which work all night, a sea of local wines, inexpensive canteens and cafes. Windsurfing, paragliding, trips to the estuaries for fishing, swimming in a mud lake not far from the central beach... In a word, Golubitskaya will not let you get bored and will not leave you hungry.

Taganrog

There are cafes and discos at every step along the Taganrog coast. NEO is located here - one of the most remarkable show clubs Rostov region. It regularly hosts incendiary show programs, well-known DJs from all over the south of Russia come here, and performances by foreign stars are also not uncommon. There are also clubs designed for a poor student body. For example, "Club 1", where fans of Techno, DNB, Trance gather and light up from 21.00 to 4 in the morning.

In Taganrog there is a water park "Azure" and a unique dance floor "Aqua Dance Party Open Air", where everyone can dance in the open air, cafes known for their theme nights ("Fiesta"), as well as those with a price range built from budget to high ("Cafe Cruise"). In Taganrog, you can have fun in bars where professional bartenders prepare drinks and snacks right in front of visitors ("AURA Night Club").

Where to go on the Sea of Azov on excursions

To the winery "Fanagoria", which is located in the village of Sennoy. During the tour, wine tasting is provided, including the best varieties. You will be able to taste and buy "Cabernet", "Chardonnay", "Tsimlyansk black", "Cahors canonical" and other wines, even made using extracts of medicinal plants.

To the Lotus Valley. Blooms in late July - early August. You need to go to watch this amazing spectacle on the Akhtanizovsky estuary. The flowers rise 20-30 centimeters above the surface of the water, smell pleasant and have a pink color, and their leaves can reach 80 centimeters in diameter. There is a legend: if you whisper the name of a loved one into an opening lotus flower, then his feelings for you will always be invariably tender and true.

Go to the dolmens. They are located in the Caucasus, in particular - not far from Gelendzhik. These are ancient structures of an incomprehensible purpose: some scientists consider them burial places, others - religious buildings designed to communicate with the gods. They appeared about 4-4.5 thousand years ago. Beliefs say that one who puts his hands on a dolmen and mentally asks a question of interest to him will surely find an answer to it soon.

Hello dear!

I have been to the Red Sea, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Andaman Sea, the Indian Ocean, on the border of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. Now in Azov. There is something to compare!

On the coast of the Sea of Azov sand and shells. Because of the shells, the sand does not warm up during the day, but it is impossible to walk on the sand with bare feet - the shells are prickly! But how fun to collect them! I love shells, although they are unpretentious on the Sea of Azov and soon get bored.

The sands of the Azov coast are called red. They are actually with an orange or reddish tint.

They say that the Sea of Azov is dirty. Dirt in my understanding is gobies in the sea, pieces of cellophane, sticks, garbage, plastic and so on. The Sea of Azov is not dirty, it is simply muddy from the sand raised by the waves. It's not mud, it's sand.

But there are many small dead fish in the sea. They are both in the morning and in the evening. Where they come from is unknown. It is very unpleasant to step on them accidentally in the sea.

Interesting to watch seagulls. They catch fish in flight.

The sea is shallow, so it is suitable for children. But in the sea it is not critically shallow, it is not so far to go to the depth.

Do you think the Red Sea is deep? In Egypt, in Sharm el-Sheikh, the paddling pool is generally just above the knee! Deep only from the pontoon. In the Maldives, when there are no waves, you can safely walk to the buoys that are not visible from the shore! It's small there! It was deep in Turkey and in Lazarevsky on the Black Sea.

And the Azov waves are very similar to the Thai ones. The Andaman Sea in Phuket is also shallow, but the waves are treacherous. The waves of Azov are pushed ashore, and in Thailand they are dragged into the ocean!

Prices in the private sector on the Sea of Azov.

I was vacationing with my daughter. Double Room in the village For the Motherland cost 1500 rubles per day. Near the volcano Tizdar, the entrance to it is paid. The room has 2 beds, shower, bathroom, TV, air conditioning, chest of drawers, refrigerator, hanger. Everything is working. The kitchen is shared. Guest house "Tatiana", Krasnaya street 1/4. To the sea 300 meters, although it seemed to me that more. You can walk in 10-15 minutes. Descent to the sea by stairs (when I went there, I did not know about the stairs).

In the village of Golubitskaya the price of a similar room is 1300 rubles in August. Only there is one big bed, not 2 different ones. Guest house Prostor, Tsvetochnaya street, 64. I asked the price, I wanted to go there first. Frightened climbing the mountain from the sea. And I lost interest in Golubitskaya when I found out that the mud lake was not useful there.

In Golubitskaya, closer to the sea, the price for such a room may already be about 2,000 rubles in August.

If amenities are chosen on the street, not in the room, the price of the room is reduced to 400 rubles per day.

There is a huge minus of the Sea of Azov - this is a storm. It storms often. I went to the sea in August 2015. Out of 12 days, the sea was stormy for 7 days, there was an icy wind from the sea and it was impossible to swim. The heavy rains ruined the whole holiday. You can't stick your nose out of your room!

When there was no rain, I tried to climb into the sea. I trembled in the wind, and the waves tried to push me out of the sea and did not let me in, they poured me from head to toe and did not allow me to enter deeper water. There were few daredevils to swim, some people on the shore were in jackets.

I rested in the village of For the Motherland, was in Peresyp and in the village of Golubitskaya. Stormy everywhere. They say that there was also a storm and wind in Kuchugury.

About the village For the Motherland there will be a separate review (if I can master it). Of course, it is better to go to such places by car. Where I rested is a remote place. No ATM, difficult to get to other villages. I wanted to drive my car, I went to Peresyp, at least to Golubitskaya, even to Kuchugury.

If you have your own car, and there is a storm on the Sea of Azov, I went to the Black Sea. I wanted to go to the volcano - I went to Temryuk. Or in Kuchugury. And from the village of Za Rodinu you can’t get to Kuchugury by bus at all. It's just not there in that direction. I barely made it to Golubitskaya, with public transport it’s tense - it rarely travels and then in circles ...

There are 3 tents in the village - this is already a market. 2 stores - consider yourself lucky. The cafe is open - doubly lucky. There is no entertainment, but the music does not play at night. From the animation - goats outside the window. But I knew where I was going.

Not far from the Sea of Azov there are natural attractions - volcanoes, deposits of blue clay. And in the Akhtanizovsky estuary, Indian lotuses grow. Be sure to take a tour and look at them.

Where to go on the Sea of Azov.

Take a trip to Kuchugury to the young volcanoes, to Temryuk to the Hephaestus volcano, to the village of Za Rodinu to the Tizdar volcano. There is also a wine spa. Volcanoes have useful hilly mud.

There is also therapeutic mud in Salt Lake in the village of Veselovka, on the Black Sea. From the Azov coast you can get to it.

Take an excursion to the lotuses or go to the village of Peresyp and from there you will get on a boat ride to the lotuses.

I saw lotuses, swam in the Tizdar volcano, visited a wine spa, picked blue clay on the coast, smeared her face with it. I also took an excursion to the Salt Lake in the village of Veselovka.

If not for the weather, the Sea of Azov is not bad at all. Plus it's warm.

Everyone have a nice rest!

Journey to the Taman Peninsula (Sea of Azov, Black Sea), Krasnodar Territory

We took advantage of a vacation in August and decided to go to the Russian south. We chose the direction - Taman Peninsula
Choose where to go from:
The Black Sea coast of Anapa-Sochi (refused for reasons - a lot of people)
To Abkhazia (refused for reasons - far, traffic jams, a lot of people)
To Crimea (refused for reasons - far away, traffic jams, a lot of people, terrible service, and everyone says it's expensive)
Purpose of the trip:
 relax, see new places, sea, beach
 visit as much as possible interesting places Taman Peninsula
 stop somewhere with a tent and enjoy a wild holiday by the sea. We didn’t know where to stay with a tent in advance and, as usual, we decided spontaneously and at the right time and place. But more on that later...
 go fishing
They took with them (everything fit in the trunk about 100 kg, food in the back seat):
 Two sleeping bags
 Two sheets of foam
 Two pillows
 Double inflatable sofa with a pump
 Licota tool kit, tool box and punctured wheel repair kit. I don't drive with a spare excess weight, takes up space and I have the 15th radius)
 Triple tent with vestibule
 Folding table, two chairs
 Grid, barbecue, skewers, thermos and other cooking utensils
 A can of gasoline 5 liters just in case
 Axe, saw
 Coals and birch firewood (there is no steppe and forests there, so there is no way without firewood)
 Products on the road in a thermal bag
Reflex camera with two lenses
 Some clothes
 Fishing rods and tackle
 We regretted that we did not take a sun umbrella - it was very necessary

For navigation, I stupidly used Yandex navigator, because. MTS has Internet throughout Russia. Navigation has never failed almost all the traffic jams that have been toured.
On the 15th of August we left at about noon. We went to Tver on the m10. Near Vyshny Volochok drove on the M11 toll road. The navigator suggested an alternative route after Tver to avoid traffic jams in Moscow on the P134 road towards Smolensk to the right. The road is narrow and the quality is not very good. It is better to go around the Big Ring. Well, then the M4-Don highway. Excellent track, there are several paid sections, two lanes, the quality of the canvas is excellent. I really didn’t like the M4 section in the Rostov region due to the heavy load of trucks. Even if it's two lanes. But the trucks are constantly overtaking each other, very slowly ... and furiously. It is on this site that endless driving begins - everyone is trying to climb, climb, fit in. Even when overtaking a truck, it can easily start overtaking and many drivers absolutely don’t care that someone is driving on the left ...
Starting from the Rostov region and in Krasnodar Territory bonus cards do not work at Gazprom gas stations, because this is another company, not Gazprom-Neft, but simply Gazprom. Lukoil cards were valid everywhere.
In the area of the post of Tsukerova beam - we drove to a detour through the field, however, we met traffic police there too. We asked what we forgot here, we go around the post? They said they went out to eat. Then we left the M4 towards Timashevsk and stopped at the Gazprom gas station (in Kanevskaya) for the night. Gas station turned out to be popular not only with trucks, trucks, tour buses and cars, but also with mosquitoes - there was no peace, they could not fall asleep in any way. In the south, mosquitoes are special - they fly in flocks, small and very fast, they go hunting at dusk, i.e. active for about an hour.
While mosquitoes pecked me and did not let me sleep. We thought: where do we still stop? Initially, I wanted in Art. Golubitskaya, because this is the only place I was familiar with on holiday in 1997. I climbed the Avito.ru website, because only at this time it was possible to contact at least someone. Because we were a little tired and wanted a shower and comfort, and not like a tent vacation to begin with, we decided to look for something more or less comfortable. I found two options near the beach in the village of Ilyich on the Sea of Azov:
1. A private house by the sea (upon arrival there, they refused immediately, because there was a collective farm and dirt, an unfriendly owner). We saw a lot of similar options along the coast, only two of them liked - but they were busy. The average cost is from 1200r to -1800r per day per room.
2. Mini-hotel "Bospor" right by the sea.

Built in June 2016. Everything is new and fresh: air conditioning, refrigerator, kettle, TV, large rooms, shower, everything is clean and fresh, panoramic windows or with a balcony. The building is 4-storey right 20 meters from the sea. From the 4th floor of the sea, as if under you, excellent sensations and very pleasant to listen to the sound of the sea. The beach is sand, the water is clean and saltier than, for example, in Golubitskaya or Kuchugury, because. where the Kerch Strait ends. Crimea is visible on the other side. The only negative of this hotel is the spiral staircase, which is not very convenient for those who find it difficult to move around, especially to the 4th floor, and because. I was still in a cast with a broken leg, and even with bags - it was not very convenient to get up. But these are trifles ... The owners promised to correct this shortcoming). Subsequently, having traveled around the entire Taman Peninsula, we realized that this hotel and the place of the village of Ilyich are the most the best option… Rooms from 2200r per day per room.
We went further and in the Timashevskaya area we got into the first traffic jam (and the only one) before moving, we stood for about 1.5 hours. Then we stopped in Slavyansk-on-Kuban at about 2 am to sleep. Only 170 km left to go to the village of Ilyich ...
We were in no hurry, so we drove during the day and slept at night.
On August 17 at 7-30 in the morning we arrived at the Sea of Azov, the village of Ilyich! Many guest houses we were still sleeping ... Therefore, we changed into beach clothes and immediately went from the road to the sea.

Sea of Azov

Incredible buzz after almost two days of travel - plunge immediately into the sea ... at 8 am the sun is already warm pleasantly. After St. Petersburg, these are unforgettable impressions, beauty. Sun, sea, beach: what else do you need?! We looked at the guest houses on the street. Embankment. We checked into the hotel around noon…
Then we rested, sunbathed and hung out in the village of Ilyich. We ate in the dining room "at Natalia's" on Lenin's central street. The average price tag for two is 360-390 rubles (first, second and compote). Very tasty.
What we liked in the village of Ilyich:
Clear sea, often dolphins near the coast, sandy beach, few people (even in August). The Sea of Azov is shallow - therefore, in the summer in the heat it is subject to the release of fish - this happens occasionally - at this time it is better not to swim, because. rotting fish. In Ilyich, this is a rare occurrence. The sea is more salty than in general, because. the Black Sea is not far away, and fresh rivers are further away.

Sea of Azov - p. Ilyich

A wonderful combination of winds that change direction throughout the day. Very comfortable in the heat, when we were on the Black Sea because of the high hills, the wind was almost absent - we were roasted there.
Incredible feeling of peace - this place is what you need for people tortured by cities. There is not even an ATM here, and Sberbank is open 2 or 3 days a week.
Locals are mostly responsive, contact and pleasant

So we lived in the Bospor hotel for 4 days, periodically making forays around the Taman Peninsula. Having rested, the next day, August 18, we went to st. Golubitskaya. And to be honest, I was shocked. This place has turned from a quiet cozy village into a crazy house, where there are many people, campsites, shops, canteens, barbecues, guest houses and hotels. It became unbearably unpleasant to be in Golubitskaya ... We went to the dolphinarium and the petting zoo, where we were caught by a powerful downpour. After him, the roads turned into rivers.

On the way back, we stopped at Kuchugury - the picture is the same, a lot of people and everything that comes with it, the sea is dirty. And then we realized - what a heavenly place p. Ilyich.
On August 19, we decided to go fishing on the Kuban River - we didn’t catch anything there, although we saw pike perches hunting. We went to the canals in the area of vineyards near the village of Peresyp - there was a small crucian carp - they were released. An incredible number of vipers and marsh turtles were seen in this place. The weather was very hot, we overheated. In general, I won’t fish more in the south in such heat - it’s unbearable)). In the evening we made a shish kebab under the wine (brazier, and an equipped terrace from the hotel are attached) and enjoyed the sound of the waves and the warm sea breeze (by the way, mosquitoes in the village of Ilyich attacked at dusk only once, when there was almost no wind)
On August 20, we went on reconnaissance already in the rest of the Taman Peninsula. Tasks:
Find peaches, grapes, wine, watermelons, etc. and eat up. Also find where to buy all this on the way back.
Find a place near the village of Veselovka for our campsite with a tent, as well as see other villages and the other coast of the Taman Peninsula
The path was like this:
1. Art. Zaporizhzhya is the center of the Zaporozhye region, there are ATMs, and large stores such as Magnit, Netto, sports grounds. Such a village is alive, there is no sea (more precisely, there is the Dinskoy Bay from the Kerch Strait, everything overgrown cannot be approached, not approached)

2. Coastal - a corner forgotten by God, the same with the sea. Between the village of Beregovoy and Art. Zaporizhzhya has a small beach - like a window among the thickets, in the middle of the southern steppes. A very quiet cozy place - for privacy, when we drove there during the day - there were only two cars. This place is not suitable for permanent camping for a long time.
3. Garkusha - according to stories on the Internet, it is also a neglected corner with an excellent beach, but, however, everything is different. Such a village is alive, only the beach is small, overgrown, there are more people. The place was very reminiscent of a semi-lake-semi-swamp-semi-sea, everything is somehow overgrown.
4. Haymarket - did not stop, drove through. Large village. Here the production of the winery "Fanagoria" is a wonderful and high-quality wine.
5. Taman - I really liked this place. Special place and very pleasant. A very large village, well-groomed, clean, there are mini palm trees along the roads). A very ancient place. There are several museums here, incl. Museum of the Cossacks, the Lermontov Museum, the Museum of Winemaking, the ancient Church of the Intercession, the Ataman Ethnopark built by the Cossacks. We stopped by immediately for wine and cognac from the Fanagoria winery - there is also a tasting there. Went for a swim on the beach. The beach is large, a lot of people, spit where there is, but plump. We went to the Museum of the Cossacks - right next to the beach. There, an old Cossack uncle conducts excursions in a very interesting way - admission is free, everything is according to the collective farm, but interesting. We went to the ethnocomplex Ataman - like the embodiment of an old Cossack village. Everything is beautiful, for a tourist, the entrance is 350 rubles. Landscape designers did a very good job, that's all. I don’t recommend eating there - it’s not cheap 700-900 rubles for two, and most importantly, get a semi-finished product from the supermarket heated in the microwave and of dubious quality what is poured in a glass on plastic plates with plastic glasses. From Atamani - we were not delighted ... I liked the church very much - beautiful, among palm trees, though they didn’t let me in as a sufferer, because. was wearing shorts.

6. Camping in the village of Veselovka - we didn’t stop by the village itself, we also didn’t go towards the spit. After the fork at Progress village, there will be a mini market of local agricultural producers at the fork where Tamansky village, here - watermelons, peaches, melons, grapes (we recommend the variety "Radiant" is delicious). We drove from Artyushenko village to the beach at the coordinates - 45.116541,36.839198. There is a very beautiful view of the Black Sea. Several beaches, two beaches near the village of Veselovka, and long braid beach between v. Veselovka and st. Blagoveshchenskaya. There is a very steep exit from a huge hill, and the coast is very clearly visible - we looked to the left, we look - a lot of people. So they didn’t drive closer to the village of Veselovka.

Hills in the village of Veselovka (Black Sea)

About the beach and camping in Veselovka in general:
The beach is excellent, fine and clean sand, in some places it is manganese in color due to some kind of healing super-mud in these places, narrow 10-25 m wide. Above the beach there is a tall hill 60-80 meters high, some hills on the ground are 130-140 meters high.
Nearby there salt Lake, Dead type seas
The sea is clean, but after lunch, vegetation appears in the water. Swimming is perfect before noon.
