Linkin Park life of the group after the death of the lead singer. All that is known at the moment

Hello dear readers and friends. With you, as always, Ruslan Miftakhov. You must have heard about the bad news that on July 20, 2017 the band's vocalist Linkin Park Chester Bennington was found dead in his home.

According to the media, he was found hanged at 9 am, only half a bottle of alcohol was found in the house, no drugs were found in the house.

What prompted him to such a suicide is not known to anyone, but it is known that long years he abused alcohol and drugs. He was also married twice, had six children and was 41 years old.

In some sources, you can find that he was a victim of sexual abuse in childhood and the thought of suicide visited him earlier and more than once.

Someone writes that the singer took criticism from listeners and fans very close to his heart, and the last album released in May 2017 disappointed many.

Others find the connection that the day of Chester's suicide coincided with the birthday of his friend Chris Cornell, who hanged himself two months earlier. Chester dedicated this song from his last album to him.

God only knows what went through his head when he put the noose around his neck. Why, why did he do it? It doesn’t matter anymore, the person is no longer there and nothing can be changed here.

Why do I like Linkin Park?

I decided to write a post about this because I am not indifferent to their music and creations. What they created is just something, I don't even know how to put it. This is one of the bands, in my opinion, where most of the songs are Shedefre!

Usually, as it happens, one or two songs in the album are hits, and the rest are so-so. Linkin Park is the opposite. A little lower I will briefly describe the history of the group and their endeavors about Linkin Park.

I learned about this group for the first time in 2004, I don’t remember exactly, I asked someone in correspondence what you do, in response I received a text message: - I listen to Linkin Park, if you haven’t heard about such a group, you’ll like it.

Then I didn't betray it great importance, but still asked a friend to bring an LP album, since the Internet at that time was underdeveloped and just downloading a song was a problem. Not like now, there are plenty of films and music, I don’t want to download it.

After listening debut album Meteora I immediately fell in love with their music. How could he know that I would like this music, but he was right. This is without a doubt the music of the 2000s generation.

Not one, I repeat, not one music touched me so much, without even understanding the words of what it is singing about, with the music of Linkin Park, energy is transmitted on an emotional level.

It is as if you are going through the difficulties and sufferings of life that most people go through when you feel overwhelmed and insignificant.

I have always been indifferent to rap and rock separately, but probably no one has ever managed to combine it together and get something like that. It is simply amazing from the ability to cross rock, rap and electronica into one whole.

And to this music, I loved to drive Need For Speed Most Wanted, you probably know the most famous computer races, which in translation Need for Speed is the Most Wanted.

So in these races, my favorite car was a Mitsubishi Lancer 9 and I had no equal, the police chasing me was just useless, and this very music helped everything.

You just listen to what kind of drive, only in a real car in real life I don’t recommend turning on this music, you just want to press the gas and drive.

Have you noticed that the ending of one song Easier To Run and the beginning of the song Faint are the same, how would the continuation go?

Well, the last one I will publish here and I will note it all from one Meteora album, other albums are not almost worse, but even better in some way. Total albums for LP this moment released 7.

A bit of Linkin Park history

I'll tell you a little about the creation and composition of the LP. The group was created in 1996 and was originally called Xero. The founders are considered to be Brad Delson - guitar, Rob Bourdon - drums, Joe Hahn - DJ and Mike Shinoda - vocals, MC, keyboards, rhythm guitar. Vocals were performed by Mark Wakefield.

Chester was not yet in the group and they could not succeed without him. After vocalist Mark left, the rest of the band started looking for a new vocalist.

They constantly held castings, but to no avail, but somehow they were given the phone of that same Chester. The guys contacted him and sent him a demo tape. On this day, Chester had a birthday and he scored on it, records vocals and plays the recording to the guys on the phone.

What I'm telling you here, watch the video, if you're interested of course.

After the arrival of a new singer, the group changed its name to Hybrid Theory, but as it turned out, this name was already taken by another group and the copyright holder was already preparing to sue them.

Each member of the group was asked to come up with a new name. Chester suggested naming, as it is now called, after Lincoln Park, through which the singer walked every day to rehearse.

In 2000, the first album was released, which brought them world fame. Then they released the next album in 2003. Competitors and envious people expected that their next album would be a failure, as most people have the first best, and then complete trash.

But no, and they didn’t guess right, the second album turned out to be just superb. It should not be otherwise, as the members of the group themselves say, they made several versions for each song, changed the words somewhere, replayed the guitar somewhere, until all the colleagues liked it inside and out.

They worked on each album for 3-4 years. Here is such a success story of Linkin Park.

Chester Bennington in movies

By the way, did you know that the singer starred in the movie Adrenaline 1-2 and drank 3D in the movie? I didn't, I just found out while watching videos on YouTube.

I watched both parts of the film Adrenaline for a long time, but I did not suspect that this was the same vocalist from the LP group. It is said that Saw was his favorite movie.

What will happen to linkin park?

A band that hasn't changed its line-up for the last 17 years, I think, can't just take and change a vocalist like that. Moreover, such a vocalist as Chester, who had a huge range of voice, which allowed him to surprise his listeners, is simply not to be found. Although they say there are no irreplaceable people, but apparently not always.

Here I think there are two options for the outcome of the group:

  1. The group remains as it is in the composition of 5 people, the vocals are taken by Mike Shinoda, but without Chester
  2. The group breaks up and goes down in history. Linkin Park without Chester is no longer the same Linkin Park and probably they will soon have such an option.

Let's wait and see what happens to the group. And what do you think?

On this note, I will end the article, may the earth rest in peace.

P.S. Those who are a fan of the Linkin Park group must have found an error in the article, write in the comments what the error is. Who is the most attentive?

Sincerely, Ruslan Miftakhov

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington was found dead at his Palos Verdes Estates residence in Los Angeles, California. Before that, the musician was vacationing with his wife in Arizona, but then decided to return home alone. This circumstance allows the police to claim that Chester committed suicide either on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. Chester passed away just a couple of hours before the premiere of the group's new video.

AT last years Bennington's problems with alcohol and drugs were reported. He was married twice. He left six children.

In total, with the band Linkin Park, Bennington recorded seven studio albums. Five of them went on to go platinum. Among other things, the Linkin Park group is a Grammy Award winner. Chester Bennington has been with the band since its inception and also came up with the name.

According to the online edition of TMZ, his death came as a surprise to the rest of the group. On the eve of the musicians planned to arrange a photo shoot, and exactly a week later - to go on tour.

It is also reported that one of the musicians of Linkin Park, vocalist Mike Shinoda, arrived at Bennington's house after law enforcement officers and was "completely shocked" by the news of the death. Chester was going to be taken to a photo shoot that day.

“I'm shocked, my heart is broken, but it's true. An official statement will follow as soon as we have it,” wrote Shinoda.

Bennington's death came on the birthday of Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, who committed suicide on May 18 this year. Cornell and Bennington were friends.

A number of musicians and representatives of show business have already reacted in in social networks to the death of a colleague.

“Chester Bennington was an artist of extraordinary talent and charisma and a man with a big heart and caring soul. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his beautiful family, his bandmates and many friends," the head of record label Warner Bros. Records Cameron Stang.

"He's cute, kind and humble. A rare combination for rock and roll. Deeply saddened,” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich wrote. Singer Rihanna, in turn, called Chester's talent the most outstanding of all that she had ever met in her life.

Rest in peace, Chester Bennington. We will never know someone's pain. Prayers with his family in this tragedy. If you need help, reach out," said rhythm guitarist and vocalist rock band Kiss Paul Stanley.

“Probably our most famous fan,” this is how the team of the English club “Ipswich Town” recalled Bennington. “It was very sad to hear this news. Everyone in the club is transmitting best wishes Chester's family and friends."

Russian fans of Linkin Park launched a hashtag on social networks dedicated to the death of the band's frontman.

Vocalist of the Lumen group Rustem Bulatov, who himself is a fan of Linkin Park, commented in an interview with RT on the news of Bennington's death:

“This is a serious blow for the fans, I include myself in this number. Always looking forward to new albums. It's a pity that this creator is no more in the world. The load that fell on him was so heavy that he could not cope. Chester left six children - this is a big human tragedy", he said.

In his opinion, the band and Chester Bennington himself changed rock music.

“Very strongly influenced the whole rock with his work. A striking example how the music different styles and directions can mix into something interesting. It was theirs hallmark blurred the lines between hip-hop, rock and electronic music", he told RT.

In turn, the leader of the Crematorium group Armen Grigoryan stated that "the actions of rock musicians are often not related to their commercial success."

“It is not clear why this happened,” he said.

The Los Angeles County coroner confirmed Bennington's death. According to coroner's spokesman Brian Elias, Bennington's death is being investigated as "an apparent suicide, but no further details are available," according to the Associated Press. The date and time of the funeral have not yet been announced.

Frontman of one of the most popular in the world Linkin groups Park Chester Bennington found dead at his home in Los Angeles. He was 41 years old. According to the tabloids, the musician committed suicide. recalls Bennington and his team, which became a symbol of the generation of the 2000s.

“I'm shocked, my heart is broken, but it's true. An official statement will follow as soon as we have it," Bennington's colleague, rapper Linkin Park tweeted.

By a strange coincidence, the death of vocalist Linkin Park fell on July 20 - the birthday of the frontman of Soundgarden and Audioslave, who committed suicide on May 18 of this year. Cornell and Bennington were friends.

Another grim statistic: this is the second Stone Temple Pilots vocalist to die in two years. Found in December 2015 dead ex frontman Scott Weiland. From 2013 to 2015, Bennington took his place in this well-deserved team, which he admired from his youth.

Bennington had a serious and longstanding drug problem, and perhaps Shinoda knows more than people on the outside. For fans of the band and those who simply follow the music, with all the deaths of musicians over the past year and a half, the departure of Bennington - a handsome man, a favorite of girls, a figure albeit pathetic, but not tragic, turned out to be really shocking.

Linkin Park were one of the most commercial successful groups The 2000s is the era when alternative music became mainstream. They brought nu-metal to a state close to pop music. They had a lot of haters, but there are still many times more frenzied devoted fans. For the generation of the 2000s, Linkin Park is a symbol, even if someone did not listen to them and did not like them. They were everywhere, there was nowhere to hide from the Numb song.

In the 2010s, the passions around the band did not seethe so violently, but the band released albums regularly, and accusations were regularly made that the musicians had written themselves out, completely gone crazy, and so on. In May, the last, seventh disc of the group was released - one more light. Discussing this work, the peace-loving Bennington lost his temper and threatened to "stuff the face" of critics and detractors.

Returning to strange coincidences: the album was released the day after the death of Chris Cornell.

Chester Bennington was born on March 20, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of a police detective. He was 11 years old when his parents divorced, and this had a very strong effect on him. As a teenager, he started drinking and doing all the drugs he could get his hands on.

At the age of 17, he began to sing in a local band, Sean Dowdell and His Friends, but things weren't going well for that band. Chester found another band - Gray Daze and recorded three albums with him in the second half of the 1990s. The result did not suit him, and he was already thinking about quitting music.

But suddenly he was lucky: producer Jeff Blue, who worked with and, appreciated the Gray Daze vocalist and brought him together with a promising young Los Angeles band Xero. Bennington befriended Mike Shinoda and the other members of Xero. The team after some time was renamed Linkin Park. Jeff Blue also helped with the contract: the band released their debut album not just anywhere, but on the giant label Warner Bros.

It didn't take long to convince listeners of their talent - the first disc became multi-platinum in many countries and diamond (more than 10 million copies) in their homeland.

From an unsettled drug addict and Burger King employee, Chester Bennington at 23 turned into a superstar and a millionaire who owns the minds of millions of teenagers. But this successful and, according to some, "pop" man, the father of a large family, continued to live on the edge of the abyss, from which they could not save him.

Chester Bennington returned to his native Los Angeles from a vacation on Wednesday. Linkin Park had yet another photo shoot, the premiere of the video clip Talking To Myself, and the final rehearsals of the tour, which was supposed to start on July 27th.

Now one can only tragically guess why the 41-year-old singer decided at the peak of his fame - in the midst of work, success. But only now do you begin to pay attention to the fact that, perhaps, Chester has inexorably accumulated fatigue, sorrow and even despair ...

At the time of his death, Chester Bennington was alone in his house in California (his wife stayed in Arizona, where she chose to continue the vacation that they started together) - and it’s hard to say now if they had a fight, had they quarreled before leaving ?! But if the wife returned with linkin lead singer Park, then perhaps she could have saved him from a fatal step ... It's a pity that she was not there ...

Actually, now comparing the facts, you can see that the artist has accumulated fatigue. Another album group One More Light was released in May 2017 and out of habit became #1 in the charts. Including in the most important - BillboardTop-200 - compiled on the basis of sales of CD, LP and digital copies.

Moreover, the music of this disc was very different from all previous releases, it was no longer screaming, anguish, furious reading, grinding guitars and desperation of riffs that prevailed here. Not! "Another Beam Was" was no longer as heavy as the band's previous albums. But rather - albeit tough! - but at the same time even a little relaxed, meditative, piercingly philosophical and nervously suicidal. Yes, and it began with the song Nobody Can Save Me ("No one can save me") with the first lines of the song, and of the entire album I'm Dancing With My Demons ("I dance with my demons" ...). For some reason, I thought about this furiously and sadly right now.

Maybe this disc Chester and conceived how? Yes, and the cover is quite metaphorical and philosophically existential (before, Linkin Park was always more straightforward, with the possible exception of the Meteora album) - against the background of gathering twilight, people without clothes (adults and children) enter the ocean ... In the distance - black waves, beyond them - a thickening darkening sky, behind which there is still a little light - that's where the people in the picture from the cover are looking.

Maybe Chester himself saw the truth for himself eternal life and farewell to the ordinary? Now one can only guess about all this ...

By the way, he himself, though habitually was the inspirer of the next album, but this time composed unusually little. He became a co-author of only two tracks of the disc. Including in the hit Heavy, that is, "Heavy", also, after all, with a rather tragic text, beginning with the words "I don't like what's going on in my head ...." And it's probably not by chance, is it? But everyone didn’t think about it, didn’t understand that he wrote, probably, with the utmost confession and sincerity, sobbing ?! Maybe goodbye? Who knows now?!

AT recent months Chester drank heavily and suffered from depression. But then, too, no one was around.

Now that leader linkin Park is no longer with us, you think about all this with a tragic and no longer able to save furious sadness, pain and sorrow ...

I was 14 years old. I wasn't the "perfect" teenager. I walked with metalheads, experienced personal and family tragedies- big and small. Like all teenagers transitional age I felt like I was doomed to be alone. There were friends, there were first loves, there were joys, but there is such a state - you have enough reasons for happiness, but for some reason this is not enough ...

And I wanted more: stars, sky and space ...

I also had my first computer, headphones and Numb. And when another revolution happened in the teenage psyche, I turned on the volume at full volume and shouted over Chester Bennington until I was hoarse. I am no longer 14, but the habit of relaxing to the screaming Numb has remained. This is all that was able to cheer me up and "let go." It was. Until now...

I don't think I was interested in rock music when Linkin Park was starting out. The history of the team began in 1996. Interestingly, for a long time "Links" changed their name like gloves and were called SuperHero, Hero, Hybrid Theory, Lincoln Park. Each of them, for certain reasons, did not take root - did not find a response from the fans, was suspected of plagiarism or occupied by others. Ultimately, Lincoln Park was transformed into Linkin (the idea for the name belongs to Chester, it was through this park that he went to the studio).

The band was founded by Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson.

With all due respect to the deceased Chester Bennington, I think that Shinoda still has a lot of credit for the tremendous success of the project. And it is he who is obliged to pull out Linkin Park after the death of the vocalist.

Mike Shinoda

Born February 11, 1977 in California. In addition to music, he is engaged in drawing and producing. Writes songs. Known not only for Linkin Park, but also for solo project Fort Minor. Married, has three children.

Line-up of Linkin Park:

Mark Wakefield is the first vocalist (except for Shinoda) of the group, which at the time of his participation was also called Hero. He left the team for the reason "this group will have no future" (I wonder what he thought later). They were looking for a replacement for him for a long time, until the will of chance and mutual acquaintances brought Shinoda to Bennington. This story is reminiscent of Cinderella (only a guy with a broken fate plays the role of a tormented stepdaughter), but the stars turned out well - a simple employee of Burger King, who recently had no money even for a bicycle, suddenly received an offer that played a key role in his life . An offer that brought him fame, money and the love of millions of fans around the world.

Linkin Park discography

During its existence, the Links released 7 records. The first album was really triumphant for the team, it sold over 30 million copies worldwide - this is a resounding success for the newly minted team. The group was lucky to sign a contract with the influential label Warner Bros. Records, and for the world to see and hear for the first time in heavy rotation on key TV channels and radio stations a powerful hybrid mixture of rap metal.

The most recognizable Linkin Park song, not only by me, but by all the other fans, is Numb.

Why does the world love Linkin Park? They may not be the first to mix rap and rock, but it was they who brought the underground to the masses for the first time. At a time when this genre was popular with a narrow circle of listeners, Shinoda and company managed to break through to the top of all the charts and win the hearts of millions. Metal has ceased to be something underground and accessible, it has received the right to an open life.

1. Hybrid Theory - 2000;

Reanimation - 2002 (remixes and interpretations of the first album);

2. Meteora - 2003;

3. Minutes to Midnight - 2007;

New Divide - 2009 (a separate single for the film Transformers. Revenge of the Fallen;

4. A Thousand Suns - 2010;

5. Living Things - 2012;

Recharged - 2013 (remixes and interpretations of the fifth album);

6. The Hunting Party - 2014;

7. One More Light - 2017

Starting with the third album, Linkin Park began to move away from the hybrid nu-metal that fans loved, towards classic rock, which brought the first dissatisfaction. Fans were waiting for new Numb, In the End, Crawling, Somewhere I Belong, but unfortunately, with each subsequent album, the group moved more and more towards pop-rock (and was even accused of final "opposition").

Music Linkin Park often "shone" in films as soundtracks. The creators of Transformers especially loved links, in almost every part there is their song. The rock band's tracks were featured in Twilight and Need for Speed, as well as some computer games. The musicians often toured and probably traveled all over the world. Including, their concerts were held in Russia. Unfortunately, I never managed to get to these events... and now I feel acutely that life is so short that it is no longer possible to put off your desires for tomorrow...

The life of Chester Bennington

You can talk about the work of Linkin Park for hours, but, of course, now all attention is focused on only one character of the group - Chester Bennington. Vocalist Linkin lived through quite a hard and difficult life. AT early childhood he was abused by an older friend and, according to Chester, was forced to fulfill his desires due to beatings and humiliation. At certain periods, Benny was addicted to drugs, alcohol, divorced his first wife (he has one child with her, he stayed with his mother). But, it would seem, he took up his mind - he married Talinda Bentley, gave up addictions (although he fought them long and hard). Chester has real friends, loyal fans and a close-knit family - three of his own children and two adopted ones. Even in music, he has become more relaxed, himself admitting that he likes to sing more "light" compositions, he has matured and feels absolutely cool.

Friends and relatives speak of Chester as a friendly person. Of course, we do not know all the cockroaches in his head and the whole truth of his life, but the fact remains - on July 20, 2017, Chester Bennington hanged himself, shocking his colleagues, his family, and his fans.

What caused this, we are unlikely to know. None suicide notes not left (although the media are now actively discussing that, they say, there were omens - they talked about long-standing suicide attempts, and about a renewed passion for drugs, and about the heavy loss of a friend who committed suicide a little earlier than Chester, and several videos , allegedly in which Chester non-verbally said goodbye to the fans).

The main versions of Benny's suicide are the loss of a friend Chris Cornell (Chester was found hanged in circumstances very similar to Cornell and on his birthday), problems with drugs and alcohol that began again (a half-empty bottle of alcohol was found in the house, but Chester did not use any drugs before death ), creative crisis and psychological trauma. In my opinion, creative dissonance is the most likely of these reasons. AT recent interviews Bennington showed unusual aggression at the mention of the haters, who were frankly dissatisfied with the work of the group and called it a rolled up bullshit. It is unlikely that a person who is confident in his own success will so emotionally perceive the criticism of the dissatisfied ...

Of course, I can’t justify suicide in any way, but in the wake of criticism of Chester, they say, he didn’t think about his family and colleagues, he filed negative example fans, including great amount teenagers, gave up slack, showed selfishness, I will say this:

The body dangling on a rope is not as scary as what was going on in this head a minute before death ...

A terrible loss and a bitter loss. And no. Fans shed tears not because they personally knew this person or because they were completely moved by the mind with their love for idols. And not because they hype on someone else's grief. And not to show his sentimentality. It will be difficult to understand for those who weren't fans of the band in their youth, but I'll try...

My memories went with Chester. My youth. My segment of life, where every fragment went to the songs of Linkin Park and his voice. These tracks made me stronger and gave me hope, they calmed me down. Of course, the songs remained, but since July 20 they no longer carry the same energy that they carried before. Now, including Numb or In the End, I don't feel supported, I have tears in my eyes, because everything that I have built these 13 years for the songs of the Links for so long will have to be left in the past. Chester Bennington has died. My youth is gone too. Does it sound pathetic - I do not know, but how it is ...

What will happen to Linkin Park after Chester Bennington's death?

I suppose the links will continue to exist, but only time will tell how long it will be... It is already known that the band is not going to cancel the tour (but also does not yet know who will replace Chester), which will begin in a week. On the eve of the death of vocalist Linkin Park, they new clip which, alas, tragic reasons viewed by millions of users. I think that for some time the attention will be riveted to the group, many fans will still not want to let Linkin Park go and will try their best to maintain their popularity. At least for the sake of Chester's memory. As it usually happens, the fans will be divided into two fronts: those who will be loyal to the band under any circumstances, and those who will not accept any, even more talented replacement for Benny.

But it is unlikely that they will be able to repeat the same success that they had with the arrival of Bennington in the early 2000s ... Or they will find completely different fans who will not associate links with nu metal, but will accept their modern work.

P.S. Literally an hour after the publication, I read the official statement of the group: the tour will not take place. Tickets will be refunded....
