The printer is in an error state. The world of pc peripherals

Hewlett-Packard was founded in the United States of America before World War II, in 1939. She became known as the creator of the latest and even "revolutionary" models of technology for her time. For example, in 1968 the company released the first desktop calculator that could be programmed. And after 6 years, in 1974, an analogue appeared on store shelves for a wide range of users. And after 6 years, the company's specialists made a personal computer. But even such a reliable technique sooner or later breaks down and stops working normally.

It should be noted that the name of the manufacturer Hewlett-Packard comes from the names of the people who founded it - Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett. It should be said that the order of their names in the title was determined by drawing lots. In this article, you will learn a lot of interesting things about printer errors from this manufacturer, as well as learn something about how to fix them.

Most Common HP Printing Device Errors and How to Fix Them

timely allows you to ensure long-term and uninterrupted operation of printing devices. However, sometimes they may break or malfunction. They will inform the user about this in the feed of a special code that will be displayed on the display. Here are the most common errors that occur on Hewlett-Packard brand printers, as well as methods for correcting them:

  • error number 79.XXXX indicates that an information management error has occurred in the device. If such a problem occurs, one of the above actions should be taken: turn the printer on and off, clear the print queue, reinstall the software (driver), replace the network card, drive, etc.;
  • number 59.X Indicates that a motor failure has occurred. In this situation, you need to turn it on and off. If the error continues, then the main motor or supply cables will need to be replaced;
  • if you see error code 58.X, then this indicates that the tray lifting mechanism is out of order;
  • with code 57.X with the words "Fan Failure" you can immediately understand that one of the device's fans is broken. To fix the problem, you should check the supply cables and replace the fan that is out of order;
  • error number 56.X means that you are experiencing an output and input problem. To fix it, you just need to reinstall the driver;
  • number 55.X indicates that a power failure has occurred. If you encounter it, then simply turn the printer off and on again;
  • if you see on the screen figures 41.3, then most likely you have put the wrong size sheets in the device. To correct the situation, you need to put the appropriate paper;
  • number problem 40 EIO x BAD TRANSMISSION indicates that the printer's network card has failed. To fix the problem, you need to disable and re-enable it. If the situation has not improved in any way, then the card itself should be replaced;
  • fault with number 22 PARALLEL I/O indicates a problem with the parallel port. It usually occurs when using incompatible cables or drivers with this device. To continue working, you need to replace the cable or reinstall the drivers;
  • errors 20 and 21 indicate errors related to memory. Their only difference is that with error 21, if the error is not corrected after cleaning the print queue, then in the PAGE PROTECT item, set the checkbox to the "Auto" position. With error 20, you just need to clear the print list and you can continue to work. If the error occurs again, then most likely there is a problem with the RAM;
  • codes 13.20XX or 13.a they say that a paper jam has occurred. In this case, it is required to check the feed roller, the output compartment or the registration flags and the health of the thermal block;
  • if you saw code 13.9XX, then it indicates a paper jam that occurred precisely on the left side of the printer. The reasons for this phenomenon may be malfunctions of the above printer elements;
  • if the display is lit write 13.6XX, then most likely the paper is jammed somewhere at the exit from the thermal compartment. After you remove it from there, see if the registration flags and the thermoblock itself are in good condition;
  • if you see on the display error code 13.5xx, it means that the paper is jammed in the fuser itself. The reason may be the breakdown of the block itself;
  • number 13.3XX indicates that paper is jammed in the printer. To fix the problem, you need to remove the sheets that are stuck. Most of the time, this is enough to keep going. But it will not be superfluous to check the operation of the registration flags and the sheet feed rollers.

Problems with Hewlett-Packard printers can vary. And not everything can be fixed on your own. If you trust specialists more, then contacting service center Miraxprint, you can be sure that your printer will be "brought back to life" in the shortest possible time. In addition, for all work performed, replaced spare parts, the specialists of the center provide a guarantee. The center works seven days a week around the clock, which allows the client

Question:

Carriage knocks when turning on HewlettPackard DJ420; or when the power is turned on, the cartridge jerks to the left by about 5 cm, the cartridge cleaning mechanism turns on, then all 3 lights start blinking.

Answer:

Near the engine there is a micro-limit switch; if ink leaked, got inside the mikrik, the contact disappeared and the head is not positioned.

Question:

The HP DJ400/420 printers print characters, shift printing to the side.

Answer:

Set the type of cartridge in the printer settings to match what is installed in the printer (color or black).

Question:

Hewlett Packard DeskJet 400/420 Inkjet Inkjet: After replacing an ink tank, the "out of ink" light on the panel flashes.

Answer:

This lamp does not signal the presence of ink, but a faulty cartridge. Wipe the contacts on the cartridge with an eraser (they could oxidize); if it does not help, then the tracks on the cable have burst.

Question:

The HP DJ670C printer does not print anything, not even a test sheet. Replacing the black cartridge does not lead to anything, we suspect a color cartridge - how to check without changing it?

Solution:

Sometimes it helps to wipe the contacts with a rubber band. To accurately check the cartridge - you need a tester. You take a color cartridge and find two inner rows of four contacts. The right lane is yours. The upper contact is common, it should "ring" at 30-40 ohms with the second, fourth and first right from the common.
Also: if the carriage moves to the middle when opening the lid, and when closing it, it stands still instead of moving to the right, then the cartridge is to blame.

Question:

Hewlett Packard DeskJet 690C Printer Problem: When highest quality printing after printing about 3 cm (about 200 kb) of complex graphics stops, blinks a light and only reacts to turning it off.

Answer:

The reason is a complete or partial failure of the IC of the power supply and drives on the processor board (square LSI in a PLCC package marked 59A2V1W, or XC79185FN, or SC79199FN).

Question:

HP DJ690C - checking the integrity of the print head / cartridges.

Answer:

Everything is very simple: turn on the printer, press the power button and, without releasing it, press the paper feed button 5 times; you get everything you want.

Question:

The HewlettPackard DeskJet 850C does not run a primary cycle; the carriage moves to the left, initiates a paper pickup, and freezes in place. The panel lights start blinking alternately.

Answer:

A possible cause is ink smudges or damage to the positioning film (transparent tape with streaks). Another option is that the height of the shaft (on the left side) on which the carriage moves is not correctly adjusted after maintenance, as a result of which it can wedge on a white piece that squeezes two combs.

Question:

HP DJ3325/3420 inkjet printers and other bread boxes - engine noise, the carriage does not move.

Answer:

The belt fastening on the carriage is broken off. It is glued on with superglue and fixed with a paper clip.

Question:

HP PSC750 MFP: Will the scan carriage from the HP LJ33x0 MFP work with it?

Answer:

Yes, it will.

Question:

HP PSC5183 MFP - ink system failure.

Answer:

To solve the problem, turn off the printer, take out the cartridges, remove the right cover, pull out the small connector from the control board that goes to the print head, turn on the printer - it swears, turn it off again, insert the cable. Turn on - requires cartridges, insert the cartridges, the printer is initialized. Only if someone has CISS, you need to see that the valves are normal.
Works on any MFP of this series.

Question:

The inkjet carriage movement belt cracks/jumps.

Answer:

Remove the guide, wipe and lubricate the bushings, assemble, lubricate the guide again. On models such as HP DJ610/690, etc. crackling when gripping paper - the spring has stretched. The carriage is wedged on them, when grabbing on the slider to press the paper feed clutch (I don’t know what it’s called correctly) - adjust the height of the guide (usually raise it by 0.2-1 mm).

Question:

HP DJ inkjet printers print 1-2 pages, then stop and report an error.

Answer:

It is necessary to clean and lubricate the guide so that the carriage does not wedge.

Question:

HP, Lexmark, Canon, Xerox inkjet printers print lines with a horizontal shift relative to each other.

Answer:

The encoder tape is dirty, it is necessary to wash it with water.

Question: What should I do if the HP Deskjet 656C printer is identified as "Apollo" during initialization?

Answer:

This is a firmware error (i.e. firmware), to solve this problem, the manufacturer recommends contacting the nearest service center.
From StartCopy: if the service center is far away, find on the Internet (any search engine will give a bunch of links) "APOLLO P2500/2600" drivers and work with them. Another option: download from this page firmware for the printer and return it to its "maiden name".

Question: When printing on printers of the HP Deskjet 9xx series, Russian characters intersect with each other, while latin characters and the numbers print fine.

Answer:

You need to make changes to the system.ini file. To do this, in the Boot section given file change the system.drv=atmsys.drv entry to system.drv=system.drv. Then save the file and restart your computer.

Question: hp b110 printer - what does ink system error 0xc19a003 mean?
Answer :

0xc19a003 - printer head error.

Question: HP PSC 2353 downloaded drivers from HP website, can't install them on operating system WINDOWS XP 32-bit, cartridges are original.
Answer:

This driver "error" is related to the language encoding used on your computer. Download the drivers for the USA, go to the panel regions and regional settings, set the USA there and install the driver. After successful installation in the panel regions and regional settings, return the previous values.
Question:
HP Inkjet Printer Light Blinks Three Times and Turns Off
Answer:

The problem is related to the power circuits (protection is triggered, for example, the HP 3650 power supply is faulty).
Question:
HP 3940 Inkjet Printer Carriage Does Not Move and Lamp Flickers
Answer:

The probable cause is a failure of the printer head (after passing the [slow lamp blinking] test, the printer begins to blink rapidly).

If a printer malfunction occurs, the appropriate alarm information is displayed. It is presented as a printer error code.

  • when the printer is directly connected to the computer, it is displayed on the monitor screen;
  • if there is a display on the device itself, the code will flash on it;
  • sound is also a sign of a malfunction.

General error codes (regardless of printer model)

Most often, the following types of errors are typical for most modern printers:

  • Error 11 appeared on the printer display - the paper in the tray has run out. If there is paper, adjust it so that it lies flat and try restarting printing;
  • The code “Error 12” popped up - evidence that the device is open or there is no cartridge in it. Check the tightness of the closure of the parts and the filling of the cartridge.
  • The code “Error 13” appeared - the most common error. Indicates that the paper is jammed. For each printer there is an instruction that clearly describes how to proceed in such a case.
  • An error “Error 16” has occurred - the toner is running out, you should take care of refilling the cartridge.
  • "Error 21" - going beyond the print area. To eliminate it, you should adjust the font and border parameters in the document so that the printable area fits into a standard A4 sheet.
  • The code "Error 56" is the most problematic situation, which indicates that the print buffer cannot receive the information being sent from the PC. You should check the connection between the device controller and the computer. Perhaps the problem is hidden in the lack of voltage supplied to the printer - you need to change the power supply.

Specification of problems by brand of printing devices

Despite the commonality of errors, each type of printer has an individual coding problem situations, which is typical for this manufacturer.

Canon Models

as error codes canon printer are:

  • E000 - the temperature of the stove does not meet the standards. Check connection (connector, cable). The radical moment is the replacement of the stove or controller. Also code E001-E003 - similar problems with the stove;
  • E007 - a failure when scrolling the thermal film in the oven. The indicator does not fix its rotation. Replace the thermal film or the controller or the stove. Free the indicator from contamination.

  • E6 - high voltage surge in the carriage motor;
  • E7 - a malfunction in the cooler responsible for cooling the print head;
  • E8 - failure in the head drivers;
  • E9 - abnormal work random access memory printer.

Note: with the last two errors, the printer stops working immediately, while with others it still works for about 10-12 seconds.

Despite the unification of codes, for a better understanding of the error, you should refer to the instructions, which describe in more detail the actions in each situation. Or call for quick and quality assistance.

Errors displayed on the control panel or on the monitor screen in the event of a paper jam, a malfunction of a node or a lack of RAM in Hewlett Packard printers, perhaps, not only all service engineers, but also users encountered. Errors such as Error13, Error 20, Error50, Error67 and some others have become classic HP printer errors. At the same time, almost all modern printers there is a list (log) of events - Status Log, which reflects all the latest incidents that happened to the printer. But if you carefully studied the entries in the list of events, for example, printers LJ1200, LJ2200 and similar, you might notice that the error codes in the event log are somewhat unusual (50006, 50003, etc.). So what do these codes mean? How to interpret them? This article tells about this, which is the first of a series of articles on the self-diagnosis system of Hewlett Packard printers.

So, in many cases, information about the status of the printer, i.e. about its current state is issued in the form of a code consisting of five characters, where each of the characters, in turn, is a digit from 0 before 9 . Printer status reporting programs can interpret this code in a way that is more familiar to our eyes. So, for example, the code 10006 received from the controller of mechanisms is reduced to the form: "16 LOW TONER" ("16 TONER LOW"). Such a conversion of the digital code to a "readable" form is carried out, as already noted, by the printer formatter program or the program of the "proprietary" driver installed on the PC. But, nevertheless, such a conversion is not carried out by some printer models, therefore, services that diagnose the state of the printer and its maintenance will have to do this on their own. However, this requires knowing the correspondence between error codes and the reasons that cause them.

All errors and status codes for HP LaserJet printers are divided into several groups, and to be precise, into 17 groups. First two digits of any received status code correspond, namely, to category (group) of errors, and the rest three digits indicate the immediate cause of the error or the current state of the printer. The main categories of status codes and error codes, as well as the first two digits of the code corresponding to them, are presented in Table 1. In table1, symbols x and y digits of the specifying code are indicated.

Table 1. Main groups of status codes and error codes for HP printers

The code

Status code group

Short description

10xxx

Information messages

Information messages include, for example, such messages as: printer ready ( READY ), warming up the printer ( WARMING UP ), little toner (Low Toner ).

11xxx

Low priority paper loading messages

Messages in this group are issued when there is no paper in the input tray, but at the same time other trays are available that contain paper and the paper size is set correctly. You can continue the job by selecting a different paper tray.

12xyy

Paper input tray status messages

The messages in this group indicate whether the paper input trays are installed (closed) or not.

15xxy

Output Tray Status Messages

The messages in this group determine the status of the output trays: tray empty, tray full, or tray broken.

20xxx

Command syntax errors PJL

PJL Commands , sent to the printer are checked for syntax errors, and if such errors are detected, then the erroneous command is ignored and one of the codes of this group of errors is issued.

25xxx

Command syntax warnings PJL

PJL Commands sent to the printer are checked for syntax errors. If there are errors, a code is displayed indicating which part PJL - commands are ignored.

27xxx

Semantic command errors PJL

PJL Commands sent to the printer are also subjected to semantic analysis. If semantic errors are detected, the codes of this group are issued, specifying the type of semantic error.

30xxx

Errors with auto continue

Errors of this type are not too critical and may occur randomly. Examples of such errors are: memory overflow, port configuration error, random loss of beam sensor signal, etc. If the cause of the error resolves itself, then printing can continue (with the exception of individual errors in this group).

32 xxx

File system errors PJL

35 xxx

Errors potentially solved by the operator

When errors in this category occur, the control panel should prompt the operator to take some action (such as changing the amount of available memory). After the intervention of the operator, work can be continued, but the loss of some data is not excluded.

40 xxx

Errors Requiring Operator Intervention

When errors of this category occur, the control panel should prompt the operator to perform some action (for example, turn off and then turn on the power, call for service, etc.). After operator intervention, the job is not automatically resumed.

41xyy

High priority paper loading messages

Messages in this group are displayed when there is no paper in the input tray and other trays are not available or the paper size is incorrect.

42xyy

Paper jam errors

LaserJet 5 Si/5 SiMx . Errors in this group indicate the exact cause of the paper jam (delay, stall, etc.)

43 xyy

External Printer Options Errors

This group of errors corresponds to a malfunction or inability to communicate with additional external devices, such as additional trays, envelope feeders, staplers, duplex units, etc.

44 xyy

Series printer paper jam errors Laser Jet 4000/5000

This group of errors is typical only for models LaserJet 4000/5000. Errors in this group indicate the exact cause of a paper jam (delay, stall, open covers, etc.)

50xxx

Mechanism errors

Errors in this group accurately indicate the faulty printer module: fuser, laser unit, fan, etc.

55xxx

Errors of “individual” printer settings

A description of all the updated codes for each category of errors will take up a sufficient amount, so we will publish this information over several issues of the Mir peripherals PC”, and in this issue we will turn our attention to the most “unpleasant” messages for users, corresponding to printer hardware errors, i.e. failure of its mechanisms and components. Codes for this category of errors begin with numbers. 50xxx. The interpretation of the error codes of this group is presented in the form of a table - Table 2. This table describes the most common error codes for service providers and their corresponding messages on the printer's control panel.
