T-ara made her debut on Mnet's music show M Countdown on July 30, 2009, where she performed the single Geojitmal. The first performance turned out to be a failure, the audience responded negatively and stated that it was like a performance of little schoolgirls. Already in autumn the band recorded their first studio album Absolute First Album. At the 24th Golden Disk Awards, T-ara was awarded Rookie of the Year.

In February 2010, the band announced a re-release of their debut disc titled Breaking Heart. The two lead singles, Neo Ttaemune Michyeo and Naega Neomu Apa, were released in February 2010 and peaked at No. 1 and No. 13 respectively on the South Korean charts. In the summer of the same year, the singers made a noble deed: they donated all the proceeds from their online store to charity for African children.

On July 16, 2010, representatives of the pop group announced Hwayoung as a new member as a rapper. The reason for her appearance in the composition was the banal lack of artists at concerts at a time when some singers are pursuing a solo career or participating in other projects.

The second album in the discography of John Travolta Wannabe was released on June 29, 2011. It peaked at number 3 on the Korean Albums Chart and sold over 30,000 copies by the end of the year. The Roly-Poly single from this album reached number 1 in the charts at home and became the best-selling single in 2011. The video for this track has received over a million views. From that moment on, the producers decided to enter the Japanese market.

The following February, T-ara was ranked 17th on Forbes Korea's 40 Celebrity List, making them the third most popular girl group and the seventh most influential female celebrity in the country.

T-ara (Tiara Korean: 티아라, Japanese: ティアラ, often spelled as T-ARA or T♔ARA) is a South Korean girl group that debuted in 2009 under Core Contents Media.

Story

Prior to their debut, they were named "Super Rookies" and trained for three years. Initially, the group consisted of five members: Jiae (Jiae), Jiwon (Jiwon), Eunjung (Eunjong), Hyomin (Hyomin) and Jiyeon (Jiyeon).

In April 2009, they released their first song "Joheun Saram" (좋은 사람, "Good Person") as the soundtrack of the Korean drama Cinderella Man. In July 2009, following the departure of Jiae and Jiwon from the group, T-ara debuted as a six-member line-up with the addition of Boram (Boram), Soyeon (Seoyeon), and Qri (Quri). Their debut album "Absolute First Album" was released in December 2009 and included such hits as "Geojitmal (Lies)", "TTL (Time to Love)", "TTL Listen 2", "Bo Peep Bo Peep", "Cheoeum Cheoreom (Like the first time)" and "Neo Ttaemune Michyeo (I Go Crazy Because of You)". In 2011, T-ara signed a $4.3 million contract with J-ROCK for their Japanese debut. Their label is EMI Music Japan while management comes from J-ROCK. The first single was a remake of their hit "Bo Peep Bo Peep". The song reached number one on the Oricon weekly chart with 49,712 copies sold. T-ara released their first Japanese album, Jewelry Box, in 2012, which peaked at number two on the Oricon charts. Three have been added to the group since their debut: Hwayoung (Hwayoung) in 2010, Areum (Areum) in June 2012, and Dani, who was supposed to join the group in December 2012 (although she still hasn't joined). Hwayoung later left the group after a scandal in July 2012. In early July 2013, Arym left the group, explaining that she wanted to pursue a solo career. Following Ahreum's departure, the agency announced that T-ara was returning with the original lineup they were in when they debuted in 2009.

Group Changes

Initially, T-ara was a group of five members, but with the departure of Jiwon and Jiae, three girls were added in their place - Boram, Kyuri and Soyeon. Later, Hwayoung joined the group as a rapper (that is, there were seven of them). In 2012, along with the release of the album Day By Day, Ahreum joined the group, and it was also announced that Dani, who played a role in the Day By Day drama video, would soon join. In August 2012, Hwayoung left the group due to a scandal. In July 2013, Ahreum decided to go solo, after which Core Contents Media announced that the group was returning to its 2009 line-up. It was also announced that future member Dani will only be joining the T-ara n4 subgroup (which includes Jiyeon, Hyomin, and Eunjung).
