This article presents applications that have similar functionality, but at some points differ from each other - in design or capabilities. However, each of these programs can be fully used to listen to music on Android.

Music player Stellio comes from Belarus. And oddly enough, in the CIS they managed to create a very good application for listening to music on smartphones, tablets and even smart watches with Android Wear. Stellio has everything you need for both a simple user and a seasoned music lover:

One of Stellio's "features" is changing the color scheme of the interface to match the style of the album cover. That is why the chameleon became the symbol of the program. And all this is flavored with an extensive settings menu, where you can customize almost any function for yourself.

Recently, Stellio has become available for free, but with ads. However, for those who want to constantly use a quality player, it is better to buy the full version for 99 rubles - a fairly low price for a convenient tool that you will use for a long time.

Poweramp for Android is the ArchLinux of the music player world - it's both powerful in terms of customization and easy to use. The program has an original archaic interface, which has few additional menus. The main actions take place on the main screen, where you can switch between albums and tracks with swipes. The main navigation takes place in a special menu where you can view your library by folders or by already compiled categories.

There is a good equalizer with presets for every taste, as well as a tool for adjusting the tone and volume. The settings menu is where PowerAMP really shines. You can also set up scrobbling on Last.fm. Like Stellio, the PowerAMP player pleased me with good recognition of FLAC rips with CUE.

BlackPlayer is an application with a very nice Windows Phone style interface. Navigation in this player is made by vertical gestures to the right and left. In the standard black color scheme, the app looks very stylish. All this with smooth and beautiful animations. One of the interesting features in BlackPlayer is the loading of biographies of artists and bands. Information about them is downloaded from Last.fm, so the descriptions are often translated into Russian. Such small but useful features please.

Equalizer - not the coolest, but to adjust the sound for any headphones it will do. You can also apply sound effects. In the settings you can find ample opportunities for editing the interface - you can even apply your own font. Cover uploads and scrobbling are also available. The BlackPlayer desktop widget is not the coolest - just a big "die" with three buttons. It could have been better. And I also managed to find an important drawback - the player could not properly recognize an uncut FLAC record with a CUE playlist.

In general, BlackPlayer will appeal to those who want a beautiful music player without unnecessary and intrusive features. However, extensive features will allow you to customize the player for the most demanding user. Users who switched to Android from Windows Phone should definitely evaluate the program.

AIMP is one of the few completely free players for both Android and Windows. It has neither ads nor feature limitation in the free version. If you are a person who is not used to paying for programs, then AIMP will definitely suit you. However, folk wisdom says that free cheese is only in a mousetrap. Not that AIMP is a mousetrap, but the player itself is very simple and does not shine with a lot of features.

But it has everything a regular user needs:

There is nothing more to say about AIMP - just a solid player with a nice design and good standard sound.

Phonograph is a young player, which was created under the impression of the new "material" design at the time of release. The program interface is made in the style of minimalism with bright, but not eye-catching elements. The main navigation takes place on four tabs: songs, albums, artists and playlists. In terms of features and capabilities, Phonograph is even more ascetic than AIMP, but it is also free.

Phonograph doesn't even have its own equalizer, but it does support external ones. That is, you can download a third-party equalizer from Android and enable it in the player. Also, among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the lack of support for uncut FLAC rips with CUE playlists. You can listen to them, but they don't appear as a playlist and they don't recognize tags.

Along with Phonograph, it is worth noting the Shuttle player, which is very similar in concept to the interface and set of functions. These are two very similar apps, but Shuttle has more options.

JetAudio is another mobile player that has made its way to Android from computers. On Windows, this program was famous primarily for its powerful set of options in terms of customizing the interface and sound. The developers have tried to transfer all these features to the mobile JetAudio. The application has a built-in ten-band equalizer (even more in the paid version) with many presets. For those who like to mock the sound, several modules with effects are provided at once. In general, JetAudio will help you achieve a more or less decent sound even on the worst headphones.

As for the interface, JetAudio is not original here - a typical hamburger menu with several items. Navigation through albums, tracks and lists is extremely simple and clear. Among the original features, it is worth noting: track search on YouTube, many control settings, complete freedom to customize the interface and playback. And among all the players presented in this selection, JetAudio has the most widgets of different formats: 1x1, 2x2, 2x3, 3x3, 4x1, 4x2, 4x3, 4x4 and 5×5. In general, you can make two screens with these widgets - there is something for every taste.

But the player didn't pass the test for CUE support - it didn't read my unbroken FLAC record properly. The paid version of JetAudio with the Plus prefix costs 259 rubles. Buyers of the program get a lot of advantages - all functions are unlocked and advertisements are removed. All in all, JetAudio is a great Swiss Army knife that won't get you nowhere.

The rather old PlayerPro player has not changed in appearance for several years, but this does not prevent it from being one of the best in its category. Despite the overall dominance of "material" design, PlayerPro remains true to its design, which is made in the old style with raised icons and glossy colors. Under such a conservative shell lies a powerful filling.

The simple interface with the right panel allows you to quickly navigate through all the categories and menus you need. Unlike many other players, in PlayerPro you can edit the main menu, removing unnecessary items from there. To compile custom playlists and mixes, a special rating system is provided, where each track can be evaluated. The rating is taken into account and all tracks with marked ratings are presented in a separate menu. In terms of creating playlists, PlayerPro is far ahead of its competitors - here this feature is really thought out.

PlayerPro has a fairly simple equalizer, but you can find a lot of useful things in the settings: scrobbling, loading lyrics, customizing the design with themes, gestures and sound settings using the DSP module, and much more. Widgets are also quite a lot - only six types. In general, PlayerPro does not lose to other players in any way, and in some moments even wins.

These were the best and most functional music players on Android, but apart from them, you should pay attention to these applications:

• - mobile version of the oldest player with powerful settings, but not the most user-friendly interface.
• - a nice player with a standard set of features.
• - Chinese application, known to many since the days of Symbian.
