  • Next page Track.
It is no secret that the lion's share of vacationers travel to Cyprus precisely because of its amazing beaches. No, there is, of course, a separate share of crazy people who put furious parties until the morning or the study of local vineyards at the forefront, but still the words “Cyprus” and “beaches” go hand in hand, giving tourists the long-awaited touch of the sea, sun and sand.

So, what do you need to know about the coast of this sunny and hospitable country? Firstly, all the beaches of Cyprus are very different: before booking a hotel in a particular resort, make sure that due to the abundance of foam parties you can even see the sand under your feet. Secondly, all local beaches are municipal, that is, free. Despite the fact that sunbeds and umbrellas are offered almost everywhere for a fee, here you can spread your towel next to it at any time and sunbathe without worrying about the consequences - there will be none (well, not counting the possibility of getting burned in the sun).

They say that the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus are Protaras and Ayia Napa, but in fact, each tourist has his own preferences, so it’s better to familiarize yourself with the available set of coasts of the island in advance.

Protaras is ideal for a family vacation, there is a beautiful yellow sand-shell rock with a shallow sea. Ayia Napa is a party resort with a lot of bars and clubs, and parties on the beach start in the morning. Larnaca is considered the most budgetary and quiet resort in Cyprus with wide sandy beaches and a gentle entry into the water. The sea here is even warmer than in Protaras, but in the season when the heat goes off scale, this fact can be considered rather a disadvantage - it is hardly possible to refresh yourself in such water. The sand has a grayish tint, which is why the sea cannot boast of that luxurious turquoise hue that Protaras has. But here is the main airport of the country, so the transfer will be short. The main resort of Cyprus is, perhaps, Limassol. There are a lot of hotels and restaurants here, but the beaches are not as picturesque as, for example, in Larnaca.

There are a couple of beaches on the island of Aphrodite that are not adjacent to popular resorts, but which are simply necessary to mention. In particular, it is the crystal blue Coral Bay in Paphos or Nissi Beach near Ayia Napa. The latter is famous for its picturesque island located strictly in the middle of the coast, which can be easily reached through a shallow strait ford.

The "feature" of Mackenzie Beach is Larnaca Airport located just a hundred meters away. Every day only a crazy person can come here, but to visit once to enjoy the view of planes landing right above you is definitely worth it! Another place of incredible beauty is Governor's Beach, which is 20 km east of Limassol. In the assortment: an alien landscape of miniature black sand beaches, which are separated by cliffs of white stone.

Particular attention should be paid to Ladys Mile - the largest beach in the country. Clear water, warm sea, lack of breakwaters and a lot of cozy taverns with quite affordable prices - what more could you want?

Of course, it is worth visiting the place where Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam - the beach of Petra Tou Romiou. Today no one can say whether the goddess came out or not, but it’s definitely worth taking a walk along that very foam and rubbing your heels on local pebbles. Swimming here, alas, will not work - the sea is not safe here.

Nearby is the absolutely incomparable Shipwreck beach, which is difficult, but necessary to get. Soft sand, a warm shallow lagoon, bizarre rock formations and the main "hit" - the skeleton of a ship that ran aground a long time ago.

And finally, one cannot fail to mention the Curium beach, which is near the village of Episkopi, the "mecca" of kite and windsurfers, as well as Lara - the most "turtle" beach in Cyprus. It is located north of Paphos, in an area that can only be reached by 4x4 jeep. This truly protected corner of the Mediterranean is full of turtle nests, and its coastal caves hide the rare white-bellied seal.

The popular resort island of Cyprus is located in the east of the Mediterranean Sea and is open to the public all year round. From the beginning of May to November, the weather indulges tourists with summer warmth and sun: the climate here is mild and temperate. The beaches of Cyprus are popular among vacationers not only because of the warm sea and picturesque nature, but also because of their comfort. All coastal areas are kept in perfect cleanliness and landscaped as much as possible: Cyprus has been awarded the Blue Flag. In this article, we will look at the most the best beaches in Cyprus.

The coast of Coral Bay beach is covered with fine and soft yellowish sand. Unlike many other beaches, the sand here does not contain pebbles or shells, which is appreciated by families with children. The surface of the beach is smooth and soft, and the descent into the water is gentle.

The beach is equipped with everything you need: changing rooms, showers, fountains for washing feet. Lifeguards are constantly on duty on the beach. There are also cafes and restaurants. Inflatable slides and a banana are provided for children, while adults can rent water equipment.

You can get to this wild and picturesque beach on foot or in a small SUV. There is no special road to the coast to avoid large influxes of tourists. And although sunbathing on this beach is not very convenient, many travelers come here to enjoy the beauty of the unique nature and swim in the clearest water: at a depth you can see sea turtles and other inhabitants of the sea. On the outskirts of the beach, it is recommended to visit a special house of scientists, where you can see photos and study the breeding process of turtles.

The coast of this beautiful Cyprus beach is covered with light and soft sand and is suitable for families. It is worth considering that in the depths of the water the bottom is quite rocky: it is better to wear special shoes. Not far from the coast in the sea there is a small island where it will be convenient to sunbathe. You can wade to it, but beyond the end of the island, shallow water ends in the sea.

4 Fig Tree Bay Beach

Fig Tree Bay Beach is the best beach in Protaras. It is also the most visited beach in Cyprus, not only among the guests of the island, but also among the locals. It got its name from the fig grove located a little to the side. According to legend, a large fig tree grew on the site of the coastal zone for many centuries, which was cut down for the sake of landscaping this corner.

The beach itself is located in a bay with amazingly clear water: the open path to the sea is covered by a large stone island. Thanks to him, the sea near the coast is always calm, without big waves.

The beach is maximally landscaped: cafes and restaurants, sun loungers for rent, a sanitary area with showers and changing rooms. Inflatable slides work for children and youth, there is also a volleyball court. Main advantages: unusually light and fine sand and shallow water.

In the northern part of the beach, diving enthusiasts can explore the underwater stone caves.

5. Nissi

Nissi is the most beautiful white sand beach in Cyprus. It is located in the city of Ayia Napa and is known for its unusual structure and noisy parties. Nissi Beach is connected by a narrow isthmus to a small island: you can only wade on it at low tide. Along the coast stretches the promenade with all kinds of palm trees and other exotic vegetation.

Nissi Beach can rightly be called a youth holiday destination in Cyprus. And although the beach is full of families with children in the morning and afternoon hours, partygoers begin to appear in the afternoon. The beach organizes many different parties for young people: foam parties, competitions, discos and even aqua aerobics or dancing lessons. There are sports water transport for rent, and extreme rides are available for thrill-seekers.

Nissi is also one of the cleanest beaches on the island, it was awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and landscaping: showers, changing rooms, foot washing fountains and more.

6. Connos Bay

Konnos Bay is located in a quiet bay near Protaras and is part of the Cavo Gkreko National Park. This picturesque beach of Cyprus is securely closed from the winds by hills, and the sea water in this place is unusually clear.

The sand of Konnos Bay Beach is distinguished by a grayish tint, which it acquired from the admixture of volcanic sand. The descent into the water in the central part is smooth and sandy, and on the left side there are pitfalls and rocks: diving enthusiasts can explore the marine life.

Above the beach, along the entire hill, there are small observation platforms with benches. From the height of the mountains you can take great photos. There are also summer cafes with a picturesque view of the sea.

The beach itself is fully landscaped: showers, changing rooms, sun loungers and more. Those who wish can go skiing, scooters, or order a boat trip to explore the entire protected area.

7. Pissouri

Pissouri occupies a special place in the list of the best beaches in Cyprus. The beach is secluded in the bay and is adjacent to a small colorful village with the same name. This place is not crowded: it will take a long time to get to the coast from the road or a densely populated area. But it is here that you can feel the beauty of wildlife and take a break from the bustle of the city. Mostly locals and guests of neighboring respectable hotels sunbathe here.

The shore of the beach is always well-groomed and clean, but it will not be very convenient to lie on the sand: the grayish sand here is mixed with stones of different sizes. Boulders and pebbles are also found on the seabed: it is better to take special shoes for swimming. The descent into the water quickly gains depth, so swimming with children on this beach is not recommended, although there are practically no big waves.

For the convenience of vacationers, there are still umbrellas and sun loungers on the beach, and you can have a bite to eat in a tavern or cafe located above the beach. Tourists go to this quiet corner in order to enjoy the silence and take pictures of the unforgettable landscapes of the rocks of the Mediterranean Sea.

8. Laci

Latchi Beach is located on the Akamas Peninsula and stretches for 1.5 km, adjacent to the beach of the city of Polis. There is a fishing village near the shore, where you can find many small taverns and restaurants with fresh fish dishes. People from all nearby towns come here to taste seafood delicacies.

The beach itself is secluded and not crowded: there is always a free place under an umbrella. Tourists come here to take a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea.

The coast is covered with sand and pebbles, and the bottom of the sea is completely rocky. The water in these places is always calm and warm: there are breakwaters along the perimeter of the beach. For vacationers, there are changing rooms, umbrellas, toilets, etc., and for people with disabilities, special platforms and descents into the water are equipped. At the entrance to the beach you can find a small car park.

9. Ladies Mile

On the peninsula of Akrotiri there is the longest beach called Ladies Mile. It stretches for almost 8 km and has both a pebbly surface and sandy coastal strips. Along the entire line of the coast stretches the embankment with all kinds of cafes and shops, not far from the coast you can find an orange grove.

It is noteworthy that this beach has both equipped areas and wild places for secluded recreation. From the north, starting from the port, the line of the beach is covered with stones, and the descent into the water has a large slope. On the south side, the beaches are sandy, with gentle slopes. Families with children choose places in shallow water: the depth starts almost 10 meters from the shore. Windsurfers also like these places: further from the coast, the open sea has strong currents and indulges in big waves.

All equipped areas for vacationers are provided with sanitary areas with showers and changing rooms. Near the water you can find water rides and slides.

10. Kourion

Kourion Beach is located in the Episkopi Bay on the Akrotiri peninsula. Its center can be considered the Chris Blue Bech Cafe restaurant, around which the main amenities of the beach are equipped. There are two paved parking lots and a dirt road in front of the entrance, and everything you need for relaxation is presented on the shore: sun loungers, changing rooms, playgrounds with slides, and more. At the entrance, guests can visit the fruit tent and buy fresh fruit or drink a cool fresh juice.

There are many great beaches in Cyprus. It is not surprising, therefore, that most of the tourists come here just for the sake of them - beautiful beaches. The swimming season in Cyprus sometimes lasts for six months, and in August-September the water in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of the island warms up to 27-28 degrees. Almost all the beaches that will be discussed below are marked with the Blue Flag, which indicates their cleanliness and excellent ecology.

So, what is important to know about the beaches of Cyprus? Firstly, all local beaches are municipal and free. Almost everywhere on the beach you can rent sun loungers and sun umbrellas, but at the same time you can absolutely calmly (and for free!) Come to the beach with your own bedding and umbrella.

Secondly, all the beaches of Cyprus are very different, and before you book a hotel, check whether the nearest beach is right for you: on the coast of Cyprus there are secluded and calm beaches, and there are those where music rattles from morning until late at night, and the parties are interrupted literally for a few dawn hours.

It is believed that the best beaches in Cyprus are in the resorts of Protaras and Ayia Napa, however, everyone has different tastes and preferences, and it is better to find out in advance about all the available alternatives.

Ayia Napa- a resort with a vibrant nightlife: parties and clubs there - literally at every step. Parties on Nissi Beach start almost in the morning. However, the resort is very well planned, so that all the clubs are located in the depths, and the beaches are on the coast. Therefore, even with children it will also be very comfortable to relax here (just don't miss the choice of the beach!)

Protaras ideal for those who are looking for a relaxing family holiday (and, perhaps, it will be boring for lovers of active holidays).

Larnaca- the most budgetary and quiet resort in all of Cyprus, there are wide beaches and a convenient gentle entry into the water. There is one minus - perhaps someone will not like the planes coming in for landing and taking off literally overhead. The sea in Larnaca is warmer than in Ayia Napa and Protaras (sometimes the water in August can warm up to 28 degrees, which, it seems, is still “too much”: it’s already difficult to cool off in the heat in water of this temperature). The sand in Larnaca and Limassol has a gray tint, which makes the sea no longer seem as turquoise as in Ayia Napa and Protaras.

Limassol- the largest of the resorts of Cyprus. There are plenty of restaurants, clubs and other entertainment, luxury hotels, but the coast is not so picturesque. Paphos beaches- mostly stony. Not at all suitable for families with children. But it is able to please divers and, in addition, in Paphos - the most luxurious sea sunsets on the island.

Ayia Napa beaches

Nissi beach(Nissi Beach) in Ayia Napa

This white sand beach near Ayia Napa is probably the most famous in all of Cyprus. In terms of importance for the entire eastern part of Cyprus, this attraction can be compared with Copacabana for Rio de Janeiro. The “highlight” of this beach is a small picturesque island in the sea, which can be reached along a sandy spit. Nissi Beach has many hotels, excellent infrastructure and relaxed atmosphere. True, at times the music rushing from the speakers can seem unnecessarily intrusive.

At the same time, the beach infrastructure and the range of entertainment on the beach are beyond praise!

BeachGreek Bay(Greek Bay) in Ayia Napa

It is located almost in the very center of Ayia Napa, next to the 5-star hotel of the same name and next to the port. Thanks to the fine golden sand, this beach has gained fame as a favorite place for families with children. Here you will not find such revelry and fun as on NissiBeach, but by no means everyone goes to Cyprus for round-the-clock parties and new acquaintances.

The beach is well equipped. Rest here, mainly, guests of first-class hotels located along the beach.

Kermia beach(Kermia Beach) in Ayia Napa

The beach is located three kilometers from Ayia Napa, in fact, between Ayia Napa and Protaras, on the west coast of Cape Greco. It is small, sandy and very uncrowded, calm. From Ayia Napa to the beach, you can even walk along the footpath leading from the port along the coast. If you come here by car from Ayia Napa, the beach is located to the right of the highway. And between the highway and the beach there are numerous bungalows of the Kermia Beach Bungalow Hotel.

Makronissos Beach (Makronissos Beach) in Ayia Napa

Spacious (as much as 500 meters in length), one of the most calm, comfortable, and at the same time clean and beautiful beaches in Ayia Napa. "Miracles?" - you ask. Pure truth! This state of affairs is explained by the fact that the beach is located at a distance of about 5 km from the center of Ayia Napa, and the parking near the beach is very small, and in the season it is filled to capacity from the very morning. So we recommend coming here (unless, of course, you are guests of the nearby Dome Beach and Asterias Beach hotels) early in the morning.

There are no noisy beach disco parties here, but there is a good bar, and those who wish can play volleyball and go in for water sports. There is even a Diving center on the beach, not to mention the usual beach infrastructure - sun loungers, umbrellas, changing cabins, showers, etc.

Fine sand and a gently deepening bottom make this beach a suitable place for families with children.

Beaches of Protaras

Fig tree Bay(Fig Tree Bay) in Protaras

Dream Beach in Protaras - in 2011, according to Tripadvisor, the beach entered the TOP-3 of the best beaches in Europe and still rightfully bears the proud title of the best beach in Cyprus. A wonderful, almost white, sandy beach with clear water stretches along the coast for 500 meters. It is well equipped: showers and toilets, cafes and restaurants, sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, ample parking. If you decide to come here, keep in mind that the beach is very popular, and by noon all the sunbeds and umbrellas will be occupied. So I advise you to come early.

Konnos Bay(Konnos Bay Beach) in Protaras

A small beach (200 x 40 m) with golden sand, located in a cozy bay 2 km southeast of Protaras (ie, between Protaras and Ayia Napa).

Due to the fact that the beach is located near a rocky hill, the descent into the water here is quite steep, and the coast is rocky in places. Therefore, the beach is not suitable for vacationers with small children. But it is an ideal place for lovers of diving and snorkeling, as well as cliff jumping. High waves here are very rare, because the bay is protected from the wind from two sides.

Even at the height of the season you will not meet a large and noisy crowd of tourists here.

On the beach there is a rental point for umbrellas and sun loungers (the sun loungers here resemble, rather, plastic "troughs" in which you can not only sunbathe on the beach, but also swim on the water), a lifeguard tower, beach activities (quite traditional: boat trips and water views sports). Parking is located on a hill, about 100 meters from the beach. Nearby are cafes and restaurants, and several hotels.

The extreme points of the beach are more secluded, where you can feel complete unity with nature, peace and tranquility. From the beach, a narrow and winding path leads to picturesque caves, where in ancient times, according to legend, Cyclopes lived here - one-eyed monsters.

Also nearby is one of the most popular dive spots in Cyprus - ConnosPoint - I recommend it!

Louma Beach (Luma Beach) in Protaras

The beach with rich golden sand (hence its second name - Golden Coast) is located in the central part of the Protaras resort, near the Golden Coast Hotel. The bay is protected from the wind on both sides, the entrance to the water is very comfortable, so the beach is recommended for families with children.

The entire beach infrastructure is available here - rental of sunbeds and umbrellas, showers, toilets, cafes. Part of the beach is located in the shade of fig trees.

Sunrise beach(Sunrise Beach) in Protaras

All beaches of Protaras are equally good for families, including families with children, but the sandy Sunrise Beach is considered one of the most luxurious and well-equipped. This is not surprising - after all, the beach is located near the eponymous complex of 4-5-star hotels "Sunrise Beach". In fact, this beach is a continuation of Fig Tree Bay beach (Fig Tree Bay), and then goes to another beach. As a result, in Protaras, a long strip of beaches stretches along the entire coast, for many kilometers.

Slightly above the Sunrise Beach line, there is a promenade with an abundance of shops and souvenir shops, taverns and beach bars. There is also a large supermarket here.

The infrastructure is well developed on the beach: rental of umbrellas and sun loungers, showers and toilets, a playground, a rescue tower, playgrounds for sports games. Also, guests of the beach have access to such entertainment as diving, boat trips and yachts, an abundance of traditional water attractions and entertainment.

The beach and the bottom of the sea in this area are fine sandy, and the entrance to the water is gentle.

Flamingo beach(Flamingo Beach) in Protaras

The beaches of Protaras are just perfect for families. The central beach of this resort is Flamingo Beach - with the most developed infrastructure and an abundance of entertainment. Swimming here will be comfortable even for the smallest, because the descent into the sea is gentle, and the water near the shore warms up perfectly. The beach is amazingly clean and the seabed is sandy, so there is no need to buy special beach shoes, as for pebble beaches.

For many who have been here, Flamingo Beach resembles the coast in Jurmala, but it is even more beautiful here. Picturesque green slopes overgrown with grass descend to the water itself, and here you can hide from the sun not only under umbrellas, but also in the shade of trees. Umbrellas and deck chairs and parasols can be rented here. The beach has showers, toilets, changing rooms. This beach is especially recommended for families, and is very popular not only among tourists, but also among local residents.

Larnaca beaches

Faros beach(Pharos Beach) in Larnaca

This wonderful beach with a grayish "mix" of sand and sandstone is protected from the waves by a breakwater that rises almost close to the shore and forms an ideal swimming pool for kids.

The beach is located in the town of Pervolia, in the outskirts of Larnaca, on the picturesque peninsula of Kiti. There is enough space for everyone: even at the peak of the season, the beach is not overcrowded with vacationers.

Keep in mind that there are two beaches with this name in Cyprus. (The second one is in Paphos). The word "pharos" is translated as "lighthouse". Indeed, on the western side of the Kiti peninsula, there is a functioning lighthouse. So you can go to this beach not only for romantic photos, but also to get to know such an important phenomenon for everyone who dreams of the sea as a lighthouse.

Like all others listed in this article, Faros Beach is the owner of the Blue Flag for cleanliness and environmental friendliness. The infrastructure of the beach corresponds: the coast is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, rescue towers, there is a volleyball court, you can rent sports equipment.

Address: Faros Beach, Kiti Peninsula, Larnaca.

MacKenzie beach(Mackenzie Beach) in Larnaca

The main "chip" of Mackenzie Beach is the runway of Larnaca Airport located literally 100 meters from it. It is unlikely that anyone would want to come here every day, but to visit it, in order, as an exotic, once to enjoy the view of planes landing right above you, if you have not seen it yet, it is definitely worth it!

The beach itself is long and beautiful, there is no hustle and bustle here. The entrance to the water is gentle, and the sea is clean. Mackenzie, like most other beaches in Cyprus, is awarded the Blue Flag and is well equipped: sunbeds and umbrellas, showers, toilets, changing cabins and a variety of water attractions.

Limassol beaches

Ladies Mile(Lady's Mile)

Definitely the best beach in Limassol (located west of the city on the Akrotiri peninsula) and the largest beach in all of Cyprus. It's worth the drive from the city center. Pure water, warm sea, showers, toilets, sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, children's water attractions, a lot of cozy cafes and restaurants with affordable prices.

Near the beach there is a British military base, to which the beach owes its romantic name: it was named after a horse named Lady, which belonged to the commander of the base. Limassol salt lake is also located nearby.

Governors Beach (Governors Beach, or Governor's Beach) in Limassol

This incredibly beautiful beach is located 20 km east of Limassol and 40 km southwest of Larnaca. Here you will find an almost alien landscape of miniature black sand beaches, separated from each other by white sandstone cliffs. The only thing that slightly spoils the view here is the buildings of the military base starting almost beyond the territory of the beach.

The beach got its name in honor of the British governor of the island, who spent several hours a day relaxing on this picturesque beach (oh, and my friend had a dustless job!)

Kourion Beach(Kourion Beach)

The picturesque beach of Kourion, about 1 km long, near the village of Episkopi, is the Cypriot "mecca" of all kite and wind surfers. For mere mortals, this is just a well-equipped beach with clear water, framed by picturesque high white cliffs. There are sun loungers and sun umbrellas, changing cabins, toilets, showers. Lifeguards are on duty throughout the bathing season.

Nearby is a luxurious amphitheater and the whole archaeological complex of Kourion, with perfectly preserved mosaics.

Beaches of Polis

Latchi Beachin Polis

Once Latchi was a small fishing village, but today it is a great place for a beach holiday. The beach, perhaps, is not as photogenic as the famous beaches of Protaras and Ayia Napa (because Latchi is a small-pebble beach of a dirty gray color), but Latchi is an ideal place for everyone who is tired of the hustle and bustle and does not find the desired rest in crowded popular resorts. Here you can spend time calmly and alone, be alone with nature (the sea here is the cleanest, magnificent turquoise color!) and your own thoughts.

The beach is well equipped: there are showers, toilets, platforms for easy entry into the water, a path for people with disabilities, rental of sunbeds and umbrellas.

Latchi is located on the picturesque Akamas peninsula, not far from the city of Polis.

The coastline of Latchi stretches for 1.5 km and smoothly (almost imperceptibly!) Turns into Polis beach. The beach strip is wide - 30-50 m. The parking lot is separated from the beach by green vegetation. Breakwaters protrude from the coast at 50 m into the sea, thanks to which there are no strong waves and undercurrents. In addition, you can sunbathe on the breakwaters, enjoying complete privacy.

The descent into the water is smooth - this is a big plus if you are relaxing with children. The depth starts at a distance of about 7 m from the shore. The water here is always well warmed up, especially during the season.

Paphos beaches

CoralBay(Coral Bay Beach) in Paphos

The crystal blue Coral Bay in Paphos is not strictly located in the city itself, but thanks to a well-organized bus service and a large parking lot, it is convenient to get here.

The best beach around Paphos.

By the way, the yellow sand, thanks to which Coral Bay is so popular with tourists and locals, is brought here from other beaches in Cyprus. In about 20 years, the sand on the beach is completely renewed (since the sea is gradually washing it away from here).

Petra tou Romiou in Paphos

This bay in the suburbs of Paphos is one of the most beautiful and famous places in Cyprus. It was here, according to legend, that Aphrodite emerged from the foam of the sea, and here since then a picturesque rock has been lying in the water - the “stone of Aphrodite”.

The beach here is pebbly, but thanks to this, the water is azure blue and very clean. The sea is not safe here, so jumping from the rocks is not recommended, but swimming three times around the "stone of Aphrodite" is recommended for everyone: women - for eternal beauty and youth, men - for inexhaustible strength, and lovers - for eternal love.

Lara Beach (Lara beach)

Lara is the most "turtle" beach in Cyprus. This rocky beach is located north of Paphos, in an area that can only be reached by a 4WD SUV. It’s probably not worth going here just for the sake of swimming, but wildlife lovers can find a lot of interesting things here in the corresponding season: this truly reserved corner of the Mediterranean is full of turtle nests, and rare white-bellied seals hide from prying eyes in its coastal caves.
