Night walk in the footsteps of the master and margarita. Walking tour "Romantic journey in the footsteps of the novel "The Master and Margarita" In the footsteps of the Master and Margarita excursion

You can see the mysterious lanes of ancient Moscow, along which Woland, Behemoth, Azazello and other heroes of the novel "The Master and Margarita" walked, on a tour of Bulgakov's Moscow. You are waiting for fascinating stories, interesting routes and unknown details that will complement the great work of the writer.

We offer tours:

  • pedestrian - if you are ready to explore every centimeter of the mysterious nooks and crannies;
  • individual - the walk is conducted by a reliable guide, all the stories of which will be only for you;
  • night - for those who are not afraid to meet mystical characters in the dark;
  • on the famous red tram "302-BIS" - so that the impressions are the most vivid.

Where Margarita flew - walks in the "Bulgakov" places of Moscow

Our route will start near the Mayakovskaya metro station, where the Aurora Garden is located not far from the capital's Satire Theater. It was there that Bulgakov placed the Variety Theater, in which the sorcerer Woland shone. The prototype of the theater was the Moscow music hall, which existed for only a decade in the 1920s and 1930s. last century.

  • Bad apartment. If you leave the Aurora Garden and walk a couple of hundred meters along the Garden Ring, then you will come to her. There is a sign with the name "Museum of Bulgakov's House" 302-BIS, and in the second entrance of the old Moscow courtyard-well, on the uppermost, fifth, floor, an excursion to the famous apartment No. 50 awaits you. An old staircase with gentle narrow-span steps leads to it, the walls of the entrance are painted with drawings of visitors, the small interfloor windows have preserved the flavor of bygone times.
  • House of Margarita. The researchers did not agree on which house, according to the description, most accurately matches the one where the Master's beloved lived, so on the tour you can see the most identical ones. Bulgakov liked to combine the features of several objects in one. As you know, Margarita and her husband occupied the upper part of the house in one of the Arbat lanes, there was a garden and a fence nearby, while a window overlooked the garden, through which Margarita liked to look. The first building is located on St. Spiridonovka. The second similar house is located in Maly Rzhevsky Lane, the third - in Maly Vlasevsky, and the fourth - on Ostozhenka. You can decide for yourself which building is more reminiscent of Margarita's house.
  • The place where the Master and Margarita first met. If on a tour of the "Bulgakov" places of Pushkin Square turn to Tverskaya and go along the odd side, then you will see Bolshoy Gnezdnikovsky Lane. According to most opinions, it was here that the main characters of the novel first saw each other. Bolshoy Gnezdnikovsky is the most crooked of the nearby lanes, which was determined in the book. In addition, here the writer once met his wife, who became the prototype of Margarita.

And on a walking tour you will see that famous corner of Malaya Bronnaya, where there was a tram turnstile, take a walk to the Herzen House, which became the prototype of MASSOLIT, follow Margarita’s flight route and get acquainted with other amazing places of “Bulgakov’s” Moscow.

Moscow Master and Margarita.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Cost: 400 rubles. / person

Start: Mayakovskaya metro station, on the steps of the Satire Theater

Description:

"The Master and Margarita" is not only one of the greatest works of Russian and world literature, it is also the most unconditionally beloved, "taken away" into quotes, which has become a cult. Mikhail Bulgakov, despite the fantastic nature of his novel, drew inspiration from the surrounding reality: the mentioned Moscow streets, houses and sights still exist, and the characters had prototypes in real life. Following the guide, we followed in the footsteps of our favorite heroes of The Master and Margarita, visited the places where the events of the novel took place, learned many interesting facts related to its writing.

During the tour we learned:

  • where is the "bad apartment" and why is it called that
  • why the action of the novel takes place on the Patriarch's Ponds and how the temple blown up by the Soviet authorities is connected with this
  • where was the bench on which Berlioz, the poet Bezdomny and Woland sat
  • who was Annushka in real life
  • what is MASSOLIT and where is the restaurant "Griboedov"
  • what was the capital and Muscovites in the 20-30s
  • in which alley did the Master and Margarita meet?

There are two excursions related to Bulgakov's famous novel - one at night and lasts 5-6 hours, and the other, on which we went, is walking, and takes half the time.

We met with the guide on the steps of the Satire Theatre, which is considered one of the possible prototypes of the Variety Theatre, where Woland held "black magic sessions", and gold pieces rained down on the audience from the ceiling.

Impression the tour was very positive - I refreshed my memory of the events of the novel and at the same time learned a lot about Moscow, because the city is not just a scenery for what is happening, but a full participant in The Master and Margarita.

I especially liked the guide Maria - a young, but very well-read, erudite and truly in love with the novel girl, who not only gave a tour, but very emotionally, with a fair amount of artistic talent, told us a lot of interesting facts and freely quoted lines from the novel. Two and a half hours just flew by. The tour inspired us so much that when we got home, we immediately downloaded one of the most famous adaptations of The Master and Margarita by Bortko and immediately watched several episodes in a row.

Now I really want to get on the same excursion, but this time at night, because this is an opportunity not only to visit more places related to the events and characters of the novel, but also to better feel its mysterious, mystical atmosphere.

During the tour, there was no way we could miss the apartment, known as the “bad apartment”. It was in this apartment that all the devilry took place, in which the competent authorities unsuccessfully tried to figure it out.

"Bad apartment" located at: Bolshaya Sadovaya, 302-bis, fourth floor, apt. No. 50. Bulgakov actually lived at this address (more precisely, on Bolshaya Sadovaya, house 10) when he first arrived in Moscow. He hated this apartment with every fiber of his soul (it was dark, the windows overlooked the wall of the neighboring house), hated the neighbors with their rude proletarian manners (one of them - Anna - became the prototype of Annushka, who spilled oil), hated the atmosphere of a classic communal apartment with eternal squabbles and showdowns, and so in the novel the writer's real apartment became a haven for Satan.

6

In the courtyard of the house, which looks like a typical St. Petersburg well, there are two Bulgakov museums: one is state - just in the entrance where the “bad apartment” is located, and the second, in the next entrance, is private. The second museum is not really a museum, but a cultural and educational center "Bulgakov's House", which was created because the writer hated the "bad apartment", and he would not like that a museum was arranged in his honor in it.

At the entrance to the memorial museum of M. A. Bulgakov, we were met by the regular cat of the museum - black, fat and imperturbable. The reincarnation of the same and everyone's favorite cat Behemoth.

7

It is interesting that the houses around the museums are ordinary residential, and cars are parked in the courtyard.

On the street, the Behemoth cat was waiting for us again. Apparently, he was used to increased attention to his person and did not react in any way to camera lenses, enthusiastic exclamations and annoying "kis-kis-kis"

In the next entrance - the entrance to Bulgakov's house. There you can buy souvenirs related to the novel and have a cup of coffee in the cafe.

8

And you can also take a picture with an inseparable hooligan couple - Koroviev and Behemoth.

Imagine, I have been living in Moscow for 7 years, but I have never been to the Patriarchs before this excursion! It turned out that the place is very pleasant and popular with young people, despite its dark past, including ghosts and a cursed house, which has 13 floors and 13 apartments.

The guide showed us a supposed bench on which Berlioz could sit, who claimed that this was a person planning his life, and there was no such historical figure as Jesus Christ at all, and the poet Bezdomny, hiccuping from the “apricot”.

8

A monument to Bulgakov was never erected at the Patriarchs, but a sign appeared that everyone who read the novel would immediately understand. True, the title of the first chapter sounded somewhat different: "Never talk to strangers."

The Gothic mansion that belonged to Savva Morozov, which could serve as a prototype for the mansion of Margarita Nikolaevna, I also saw for the first time. Today, the mansion houses the reception house of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

It is said that the ghosts of the first owner, who suffered from depression at the end of his life, and his inconsolable widow still wander in it.

Excursion "Moscow criminal"

Duration: 2.5 hours

Cost: 400 rubles. / person

Start: metro station Okhotny Ryad near the monument to Zhukov

Description:

The seething commercial, cultural, and religious life of Moscow has always attracted the close attention of people of various classes and professions.

During the day, the malls were bursting with goods, enterprising merchants entered into multimillion-dollar deals, and in the evening numerous restaurants, taverns and taverns opened.

The wild life attracted the attention of many, especially criminals. The tour tells about the criminal world of the capital of the 17th - early 20th centuries. We will walk from Red Square to Zaryadye, walk along Varvarka and visit the infamous Khitrovka.

During the tour we learned:

  • where did the famous Vanka Cain start his criminal activity
  • which of the Kremlin towers was called Torture
  • which Moscow districts were considered the most dangerous
  • where the first Soviet maniac Petrov-Komarov was arrested
  • various cases from the history of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department
  • church of "policemen and thieves" of St. Barbara
  • the most criminal and dangerous district of Moscow in the late 19th and early 20th centuries Khitrovka

Impression: perhaps the most unusual and specific information of the three tours visited. Still, not every day, thank God, you come across the criminal world, especially from bygone eras. A lady with a child was present on the tour, but I do not recommend anyone to take children with them - after all, stories about the atrocities of maniacs and murderers, about how in Moscow they became prostitutes and circumvented the law, are not for children's ears.

On the other hand, I really liked the format of the tour itself. It’s much more interesting to walk around the city when they tell you what this or that street is known for, what used to be here and who lived here. The guide Eugene pleased with his erudition and good preparation - it is clear that the person was very deeply immersed in the topic, studied various sources in order to present tourists with as much interesting information on the topic as possible. However, Eugene still looked paler against the background of Maria with her Master and Margarita - he often repeated himself, told without emotion.

During the tour, I discovered for myself those districts of Moscow, in which I not only hadn’t been, but I didn’t even know about their existence.

For example, Khitrovka, famous in the 19th century for being the most criminal and dangerous district of Moscow. Gatherings of bandits were held here, where they shared the loot, prostitutes, beggars and other declassed elements lived. Ordinary citizens were afraid to enter Khitrovka unnecessarily.

“A grim sight was Khitrovka in the last century. There was no light in the labyrinth of corridors and passages, on the crooked, dilapidated stairs leading to the bunkhouses on all floors. He will find his own way, and there is no need for a stranger to meddle here! And indeed, no government dared to poke its head into these gloomy abyss…,” writes journalist Gilyarovsky.

5

Pevchesky Lane (actually Pig), where the dirtiest, most neglected Moscow rooming houses for the poor were located. Today, nothing reminds of those times, since the area was cleared of criminal elements under Soviet rule and partially rebuilt.

3

We went into the courtyard of the house where the famous tavern "Katorga" was located. In "Katorga" the most inveterate criminals and plucked heads gathered.

It was about this house that Gilyarovsky wrote: “Katorga is a den of violent and drunken debauchery, an exchange of thieves and fugitives.”

Film studio "Mosfilm"

Duration: 1.5 hours

Cost: 750 rubles. / person

Start: Mosfilm film studio entrance (Sportivnaya metro area)

Description:

The tour passes through the territory of the legendary film studio Mosfilm.

During the tour we will see:

  • the famous Ferdinand from the movie "The meeting place cannot be changed"
  • favorite taxi from the movie "The Diamond Arm"
  • even the bicycle that Lenin rode
  • props and a unique collection of costumes in which famous and beloved actors starred
  • shooting pavilions and scenery of old Moscow, walking along which we will feel like in another era!

Impression:

I liked the tour in general, although I think that 750 rubles for an hour and a half is an unjustified price. The tour itself takes place in a very limited space, although the territory of Mosfilm extends over several tens of hectares.

It was interesting to look at the retro cars that were shot in our favorite Soviet films, but most of all, of course, we were waiting for the opportunity to see the scenery of old Moscow, erected in the open air in full size. Unfortunately, during our visit, the scenery was used for its intended purpose - for the filming of the film, and we saw only the very edge.

The collection of vintage cars is small, but "starry". There were also cars from “The meeting place cannot be changed”, “17 Moments of Spring”, “Diamond Hand”, “The Fate of a Man”, etc.

4

The same small exposition of costumes made for various domestic films. I was most impressed by the costumes from Ruslan and Lyudmila and the dresses of the daughters of Emperor Nicholas II.

2

Remember where it's from? “… What an interesting city!… Isn't it?…” “I like Rome better, sir…” “Yes, it's a matter of taste… Why is that smoke there, on the boulevard? And this is the burning house of writers, Griboyedov ... ". M. A. Bulgakov. "The Master and Margarita". Attentive readers and even literary critics have long recognized that Moscow in this work is not a decoration, but a full participant in the events. Let's go on an excursion to Bulgakov's places of the capital today, my reader!

2

Well, of course, the veranda of the mysterious Pashkov house, where Moscow mystics no longer pretended to gather for spiritualistic seances, was the best suited for the meeting of Woland organized by Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov with the former tax collector Levy Matvey in order to decide the fate of the Master. As a preamble, I’ll tell you that, according to the city tradition of the eighteenth century, it is there, in the Pashkov house, that evil spirits gather, and the Prince of Darkness himself, flying to every big great city once every hundred years, admires Moscow from the turret of the Pashkov house.

1

Why not take a walk together in those corners of the old capital, where traces of the heroes of the novel and its amazing events are hidden in the shade of buildings and trees ... Either invented, or recorded by the author? What should I start with?

1

Of course, from the spark that kindled the fire of events. Remember? Yes, remember how a tram took off from Ermolaevsky towards Bronnaya and inevitably, by the will of fate, Berlioz's head was thrown onto the cobblestone slope of Patriarchal Alley. Let's try to find where it could happen?

1

Patriarch's ponds - the former Goat swamp - are still considered a mystical place. And the bench where the heroes of The Master and Margarita sat is considered the most popular place on the Patriarch's Ponds. It is only bitter that it is not singled out and not marked in any way, just as there is no monument to Bulgakov. The fabled goat and the hard-to-ear bear here create a clear dissonance to the inaudible mysterious music. Calculating the point where the apricot “gave a persistent smell of a hairdresser” is quite simple: if we came from the Garden Ring and turned onto Malaya Bronnaya, we walk a little more and find ourselves at a tiny intersection, where, nevertheless, there is a traffic light. On the left is a modern “beautiful” house of unthinkable complexity and luxury, lurid in places, like an anniversary cream cake – the Patriarch house. At this very intersection, Annushka spilled sunflower oil ... The tram stop, however, has long since disappeared, as well as the barrier, but cars fly out of the corner like crazy, so the unkind fame of the place is supported in the modern road reading. And if we, leaving behind the right elbow the Patriarchs, and on the left - Malaya Bronnaya, at the very "end of the water" the leftmost bench is the very one where the action of the novel began.

1

By the way, the ghost of a black cat still haunts the Patriarchs. Locals say that deep after midnight a huge black spot flops down from the wall of the house, and a huge black monster alternately on two and four legs wanders around. The rumor about this ghost has been “staggering” around the Goat Swamp since the 19th century, so Bulgakov could well have “picked up” an urban legend somewhere and named the cat Behemoth, reviving him from a beautiful Moscow city tale in literary life ...

2

Ah, those benches! These Moscow benches... You have seen everything, you know everything. In the Alexander Garden, Margarita Nikolaevna was sitting on one of the benches, placing herself so that she could see the Manege. A little later, Azazello, leaning back on the back of this bench, will close the large carved word “Nyura” on it. Nothing is accidental... I know this bench. And you?…

2

“Love jumped out in front of us, like a killer jumping out of the ground in a dark alley. And instantly hit us both. This is how lightning strikes. This is how a Finnish knife strikes.

1

In accordance with the route laid out by Bulgakov, Margarita turned off Tverskaya into an alley and walked along this long alley. According to the most common version, she walked along Bryusov Lane. Perhaps an amazing meeting took place where the monument to Aram Khachaturian now flaunts.

Mansurovsky lane, building nine. It is this tiny wooden house that best fits the description: “from the courtyard, several steps led to small basement rooms with a stove ... “Ah, in winter I rarely saw someone’s black boots in the window and heard the crunch of snow under them. There was always a fire burning in my stove. But spring suddenly came, and through the muddy glass I saw at first bare, and then lilac bushes dressed in green ... ". The house, preserved by some miracle of the genius of the Master and the glory of Bulgakov's work, in the immediate vicinity of the urban appetites of the capital's "golden mile" stands exactly as it was described. And if snowplows did not remove precipitation in winter, its windows would also be blocked by snowdrifts. Let's look at it, turn from Prechistenka?

1

Evening is falling... The first lights are lit on the Arbat. Something flickered and went out in the mirror glass of the shop window, an indistinct image flashed, the air swayed, a lantern blinked opposite, clinking with frosted glass. How mysterious and unusual everything is at this time of the height of summer ... Shouldn't we slow down our hasty step, maybe look around? And suddenly ... Remember?

“And what are these steps on the stairs? ... And they are going to arrest us. Oh! .. Well, well .... "A bad apartment is the most realistic address of all that is in the novel. Bulgakov's house on the Garden Ring - just a little walk from the Satire Theater towards the Patriarchs - one of the most beautiful. Built this house with "profitable apartments" wealthy homeowner Yakov Pigit, who also owned the tobacco factory "Dukat". One of the huge apartments at the peak of "consolidation" was turned into a communal termite by the builders of a new way of life. Not a "commune house" or style of constructivism, but not far from it. Bulgakov and his first wife Tasechka huddled in the room when they arrived in Moscow. They were simply settled here by relatives. Life was unbearable according to modern concepts - a corridor with many doors, a common kitchen with smoky stoves and squabbles "Gossip. A half-mad Komsomol member was running around, whom the local inhabitants called "Annushka the Plague." Then, by a literary plan, she was entrusted with pouring oil ... Moreover, the manager of the house was a swindler, who constantly demanded bribes from Bulgakov for silence ie - after all, the young doctor lived on these square meters, in fact, illegally. And the greedy man, on his passion for banknotes, "got caught" in the novel in the cleverly placed nets of Koroviev, and then, with dollars, already, therefore, into the hands of the competent authorities. Thought, especially writing, is material. How do you know if the real house manager later suffered the same fate for his sins?
