Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us our daily bread for this day; and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors; and do not let us fall into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Tropari

Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for finding no justification for ourselves, we, sinners, offer this prayer to Thee, our Lord: have mercy on us.

Glory: Lord, have mercy on us, for we trust in you; do not be immeasurably angry with us and do not remember our iniquities, but now show Your love for us according to Your mercy, and deliver us from our enemies, for You are our God, and we, Your people, created by Your hand, call on Your name.

And now: Open the doors of mercy to us, blessed Mother of God, so that those who hope in You do not perish, but get rid of troubles through You: for You are the salvation of the Christian race.

Lord have mercy. ( 12 times)

Prayer 1? I, Saint Macarius the Great, to God the Father

Eternal God and King of all creatures, who let me live until this hour. Forgive me the sins that I committed on this day in deed, word and thought, and cleanse, Lord, my humble soul from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And give me, Lord, on this night a peaceful sleep, so that, having risen from my humble bed, I would please Your most holy name all the days of my life and defeat the enemies of the flesh and incorporeal who rise up against me. And deliver me, O Lord, from vain thoughts that defile me, and from evil lusts. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2? I, Saint Antiochus, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Almighty, Word of the Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, You Yourself, being perfect, according to Your great mercy, never leave me, Your servant, but always abide in me. Jesus, good Shepherd of Your sheep, do not allow demonic rebellion in me and do not let satanic desires possess me: for the seed of destruction is in me. You, Lord God, whom we worship, the Holy King, Jesus Christ, save me sleeping with unfading light, by Your Holy Spirit, with which You sanctified Your disciples. Give, Lord, to me, Your unworthy servant, Your salvation on my bed: enlighten my mind with the light of the mind of Your holy Gospel, soul with the love of Your Cross, heart with the purity of Your word, my body with Your all-conquering suffering, save my thought with Your humility, and lift up me at the proper time to praise You. For You are glorified with Your Father without beginning and with the Most Holy Spirit forever. Amen.

Prayer 3? I, to the Holy Spirit

Lord, Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, have mercy and have mercy on me, Your sinful servant, and release me, unworthy, and forgive everything in which I have sinned today as a man, and not even as a man, but worse than cattle: my free sins and involuntary, known to me and unknown; through inexperience or malice, through temper or frivolity. If I swore by Your name, or blasphemed him in my thoughts; or whom I ridiculed, or slandered whom in my anger, or saddened, or angry, or lied, or did not sleep at the right time; or despised a beggar who turned to me, or grieved my brother, or boasted, or became proud, or became angry; or during prayer my mind rushed to ungodly worldly thoughts; or indulged in prodigal thoughts; or overeating or getting drunk or laughing foolishly; or he plotted evil, or at the sight of someone else's good he envied his heart; or obscenities spoken; or laughed at the sin of my brother, but my sins are without number; or did not care about prayer; or did something else evil - I don’t remember, because I did all this and more. Have mercy on me, my Creator and Master, your dull and unworthy servant; and leave me, and let go, and forgive me, for You are good and philanthropic; Yes, I will lie down in peace, sleep and rest, prodigal, sinful and accursed, and bow, and sing, and glorify Your honorable name, with the Father and His only-begotten Son, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 4? I, St. Macarius the Great

What will I bring to You or what will I repay You, the Immortal King rich in gifts, the generous and philanthropic Lord, because I, lazy to serve You and did nothing good, brought me to the end of this past day, directing my soul to conversion and salvation. Be merciful to me, a sinner and deprived of any good deed, resurrect my fallen soul, defiled in immeasurable sins. Remove from me all the evil thoughts of this visible life. Forgive my sins, O only Sinless One, with which I have sinned against You on this day, in knowledge and ignorance, in word and deed and thought, and with all my feelings. You yourself protect and save me from any attack of the enemy by Your Divine power and immeasurable philanthropy and strength. Cleanse, O God, cleanse the multitude of my sins. Delight, Lord, to deliver me from the snares of evil, and save my restless soul, and illuminate me with the light of Your face when You come in glory, and now let me sleep uncondemned, and without dreams and embarrassment, keep the thoughts of Your servant, and all satanic deeds drive away from me, and enlighten the intelligent eyes of my heart, so that I will not fall asleep in death. And send me a peaceful angel, guardian and mentor of my soul and body, and deliver me from my enemies; so that, having risen from my bed, I will bring you prayers of thanksgiving. Hey, Lord, hear me, a sinful and poor servant of Yours, give me, having risen from sleep, to learn Your words with will and conscience, and through Your angels, drive away demonic despondency from me: may I bless Your holy name, and glorify and glorify the Most Pure Mother of God Mary which You gave us, sinners, for protection, and hear Her praying for us, for I know that She follows Your philanthropy and does not stop praying. Her intercession and the sign of the Holy Cross, and for the sake of all Your saints, save my poor soul, Jesus Christ, our God, for You are Holy and glorified forever. Amen.

Prayer 5?i

Lord our God, everything that I have sinned today in word, deed and thought, as a Good and Humanitarian, forgive me. Peaceful sleep and serene grant me. Send your guardian angel, protecting and preserving me from all evil, for you are the guardian of our souls and bodies, and we send glory to you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 6?i

Lord our God, in whom we believe and whose name we call upon more than every name! Give us, who are going to sleep, relief to the soul and body, and save us from every dream and dark passion. Stop the desires of passions, extinguish the fire of bodily excitations. Let us live chastely in deeds and words, so that, leading a virtuous life, we will not lose the blessings You promised, for You are blessed forever. Amen.

Prayer 7? I, St. John Chrysostom

(24 prayers, according to the number of hours of the day and night)

1 Lord, do not deprive me of Your heavenly blessings.

2 Lord, deliver me from eternal torment.

3 Lord, whether I have sinned in mind or thought, in word or deed, forgive me.

4 Lord, deliver me from all ignorance, and oblivion, and cowardice, and petrified insensibility.

5 Lord, deliver me from every temptation.

6 Lord, enlighten my heart, darkened by evil lusts.

7 Lord, I have sinned as a man, but You, as a generous God, have mercy on me, seeing the weakness of my soul.

8 Lord, send Your grace to help me, that I may glorify Your holy name.

9 Lord Jesus Christ, write me, Your servant, in the book of life and grant me a good end.

10 O Lord my God, since I have done nothing good in Your sight, grant me, by Your grace, to make a good beginning.

11 Lord, sprinkle my heart with the dew of your grace.

12 Lord of heaven and earth, remember me, your sinful servant, defiled and unclean, in your kingdom. Amen.

13 Lord, receive me in repentance.

14 Lord, do not leave me.

15 Lord deliver me from adversity.

16 Lord, give me a good thought.

17 Lord, give me tears, and the memory of death, and contrition.

18 Lord, give me the desire to confess my sins.

19 Lord, give me humility, chastity and obedience.

20 Lord, give me patience, generosity and meekness.

21 Lord, plant in me the root of goodness, your fear, in my heart.

22 Lord, let me love You with all my soul and mind, and do Your will in everything.

23 Lord, protect me from certain people, and demons, and passions, and from every other indecent thing.

24 Lord, You do as You will, so that Your will be done in me, a sinner, for you are blessed forever. Amen.

Prayer 8? I, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, for the sake of the prayers of Your most honest Mother, and Your incorporeal Angels, Your Prophet and Forerunner and Baptist, God-inspired Apostles, bright and victorious martyrs, deliver me from the attack of demons. My Lord and Creator, who desires not the death of a sinner, but his conversion and life, give me conversion too, cursed and unworthy; save me from the mouth of the destroying serpent, which is eager to devour me and bring me alive to hell. My Lord, my consolation, You have clothed yourself in corruptible flesh for the sake of me, damned, tear me out of damnation, and give consolation to my damned soul. Make my heart do Thy commandments and depart from evil deeds in order to receive Thy blessedness. For in You, O Lord, I trust, save me.

Prayer 9? I, to the Most Holy Theotokos, Peter the Studio

To Thee, Most Pure Mother of God, I fall down, accursed, and pray: you know, Queen, that I constantly sin and anger Your Son and my God, and although I repent many times, I turn out to be lying before God, and I repent, trembling: will the Lord really strike me? And then I do the same again. You know all this, my Lady, Lady Mother of God, and I pray: have mercy, strengthen and grant me to do good. You know, my Lady Mother of God, that I hate my evil deeds, and with all my thoughts I love the law of my God; but I don’t know, Lady Most Pure, why I love what I hate, but I don’t do good. Do not let, Most Pure One, fulfill my will, for it is evil, but may the will of Your Son and My God be done for everything; may he save me and enlighten me, and give me the grace of the Holy Spirit, so that from now on I would stop my bad deeds, and in the future I would live according to the commandments of Your Son, and all glory, honor and power are due to Him with His Beginningless Father, and His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 10? I, to the Most Holy Theotokos

Good Mother of the Good King, Most Pure and Blessed Mother of God Mary, pour out the mercy of Your Son and our Lord on my restless soul and with Your prayers guide me to good deeds, so that the remaining days of my life will pass without blemish and through You I will find paradise, Virgin Mary, one Pure and Blessed.

Prayer 11? I, to the holy guardian angel

Angel of Christ, my holy guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive me everything in which I have sinned today. And deliver me from every deceit of the enemy attacking me, so that I would not anger my God with any sin: but pray for me, a sinful and unworthy slave, to make me worthy of the goodness and mercy of the All-Holy Trinity and the Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ and all the saints. Amen.

Kontakion to the Theotokos

To you, Zealous Intercessor, having got rid of troubles, we sing a song of victory and thanksgiving, Thy servants, Mother of God. You, having invincible power, free us from all troubles, let us call you: rejoice, Bride of the Ever-Virgin.

Glorious Eternal Virgin, Mother of Christ our God, bring our prayer to Your Son and our God, may our souls be saved by You.

I place all my hope in You, Mother of God, keep me under Your protection.

Virgin Mary, do not reject me, a sinner who needs Your help and Your intercession, for my soul trusts in You, and have mercy on me.

Prayer of St. Joannicius

My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit: Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.

It is worthy to glorify Thee, the true Theotokos, eternally Blessed and Immaculate and the Mother of our Lord. Honor the most honest of the Cherubim and the glory of the most glorious of the Seraphim, who gave birth to the Word of God without blemish, we magnify you the true Mother of God.

Glory, and now

Lord have mercy. ( thrice)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Prayer of Saint John of Damascus

Vladyka Lover of mankind, will this bed be a coffin for me, or will you illuminate my unfortunate soul in the daytime? Here is my coffin, here is my death. I am afraid of Your judgment, Lord, and endless torment, but I do not stop doing evil. I always anger you, the Lord and my God, and Your Most Pure Mother, and all the Heavenly Powers, and my holy guardian angel. I know, Lord, that I am not worthy of Thy love for mankind, but I am worthy of all condemnation and torment. But, Lord, whether I want to or not, save me. After all, if you save the righteous, there is nothing great in it. And if you have mercy on the pure, there is nothing marvelous in this - they are worthy of Your mercy. But on me, a sinner, show Thy wondrous mercy and manifest Thy philanthropy, may my malice not overcome Thy immeasurable goodness and mercy, and whatever You want, do with me.

Revive and strengthen me, O Christ God, lest I fall asleep in the sleep of death, lest my enemy say that he has defeated me.

Glory: Be the intercessor of my soul, O God, for I walk in the midst of many snares, deliver me from them and save me, Good and Lover of mankind.

And now: The Most Glorious Mother of God, surpassing the holy angels in holiness, we incessantly sing with heart and mouth, confessing Her Theotokos, who truly gave birth to God incarnate to us, and praying unceasingly for our souls.

Mark yourself with the cross and say a prayer to the Holy Cross

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee from His face. As smoke disappears, let them disappear, as wax melts before the fire, so let the demons perish from the face of those who love God, and overshadow themselves with the sign of the cross, and exclaim with joy: Rejoice, Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, driving away demons by the power of our Lord Jesus crucified on you. Christ, who descended into hell and destroyed the power of the devil, and gave us His Honest Cross to repulse any adversary. O Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, help me with the Holy Lady of the Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever, amen.

Or briefly:

Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honorable and Life-Giving Cross and save me from all evil.

Prayer for forgiveness of sins

Weaken, leave, forgive, God, our sins, voluntary and involuntary, in word and in deed, in knowledge and in ignorance, in days and nights, in mind and thought. Forgive us everything, for You are Good and Humanitarian.

Prayer

Forgive those who hate and offend us, Lord Lover of mankind. Do good to those who do good. Grant to our brothers and relatives the fulfillment of petitions for salvation and eternal life. Visit the sick and grant healing. Help those at sea. Accompany travelers. Grant forgiveness to those who serve and pardon us of sins. Those who instructed us, the unworthy, to pray for them, have mercy on Your great mercy. Remember, Lord, our departed fathers and brothers, and give them rest where the light of Your face shines. Remember, Lord, our brothers and sisters who are in prison, and deliver them from every misfortune. Remember, Lord, those who bring the fruits of their labors to Your holy Churches, and do good in them, and fulfill their petitions for salvation and grant them eternal life. Remember, Lord, also us, Thy humble and sinful and unworthy servants, and enlighten our minds with the light of Thy mind, and guide us on the path of Thy commandments, through the prayers of our Most Pure Lady Theotokos and the eternal Virgin Mary, and all Thy saints, for You are blessed till the end of time. Amen.

Confession of sins everyday

I confess to You, the Lord my God and Creator, in the Holy Trinity, the one, glorified and worshiped Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, all my sins committed all the days of my life, and at every hour and now, and in the past days and nights – deed, word, thought, overeating, drunkenness, breaking the fast, idle talk, despondency, laziness, bickering, disobedience, slander, indifference, condemnation, pride, greed, theft, lies, desecration, greed, jealousy, envy, anger, rancor, hatred, greed and all my senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch - and my other spiritual and bodily sins, with which I angered You, my God and Creator, and offended my neighbor. Repenting of them, I stand guilty before You, my God, and I want to repent. But only, Lord, my God, with tears I humbly ask You: help me. Forgive me my past sins by Your mercy and free me from everything that I have expressed before You, for You are Good and Humanitarian.

When you go to sleep say:

Into Your hands, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, I commend my spirit. Bless me, have mercy on me, and grant me eternal life. Amen.

One should turn to sacred texts not only in difficult moments of one's life path. It will be useful to make it a rule to thank God every day for the day you have lived. For this purpose, you can, before going to bed, at night, you need to say a prayer for a dream to come - in other words, an evening prayer.

Such prayers are the final part of the daily prayer rule established by Orthodox tradition. The composition is also represented by prayer texts pronounced in the morning.

What is the Prayer Rule

Everyday reading of texts from the Prayer Rule, as the Church emphasizes, has a beneficial effect on the soul of a layman, helps to maintain the core of righteousness and piety in it. If a person considers himself a convinced atheist, denies the existence of the Lord and is skeptical of sacred texts, his soul may eventually become mired in vices and be at the mercy of the devil.

In general, the complete Prayer Rule is placed in the Orthodox Prayer Book and is designed mainly for pronunciation by monks and experienced believers. For those who have only recently turned to religion, joined God and began to take their first steps in Orthodoxy, a short version of this code has been compiled.

This need arose due to the fact that for beginners, a complete reading of the entire rule presents a certain difficulty. Not everyone has the willpower and patience to pronounce it from beginning to end and, moreover, to practice it every day.

The clergy advise starting the initial reading of the Prayer Rule with several prayers and gradually adding one new text to this list. This technique will help to join the ritual naturally and naturally.

The Church strongly recommends that all believers follow the rule, but not every Orthodox person succeeds in this - the frantic pace of modern life makes its own adjustments. Often there is very little time left for reading prayers, and the believer is forced to pronounce texts superficially and hastily, without an appropriate prayerful mood.

As a result, it turns out that this daily tradition is simply reduced to a mechanical ritual, and the reverence, reverence and attention that must necessarily accompany this rite fade into the background.

Of course, it is unlikely that such a trend will be completely neutralized, but it can be minimized as much as possible by paying due attention to the texts included in the Prayer Rule.

The full text of the prayers, with all the stresses and rules, can be downloaded from. Print it out for your convenience.

In this age of constant haste, evening sacred texts are among the most common. This is due to the fact that only at the end of a hard day, before going to bed, a busy person can allow himself to completely relax, to be alone with his thoughts and the Lord. This is the only time when you can talk with God, knowing that no one and nothing will interfere with this deeply personal process.

The period of time preceding sleep can be spent listening to or watching recordings of Christian conversations or prayers. But it is best to pray yourself. In addition to them, there are a large number of other Orthodox prayers designed for different occasions.

You can listen to it in the video:

Other Orthodox prayers

Short, before bed

A short prayer before going to bed would be appropriate if the believer is sorely lacking time to talk with the Lord (no matter for what reasons). You need to pronounce this text while already lying in bed, in a whisper or to yourself:

Main idea - praise and thanks to God. Despite the brevity, these sacred words have the ability to strengthen the Orthodox faith in the heart and lead the prayer to a real miracle. Under their influence, life's difficulties recede, and the fate of the believer changes for the better.

to the Almighty

In the event that for some reason a believer cannot read the Prayer Rule every evening, it is not forbidden to turn to God with the help of other Orthodox prayers. Sacred texts can be used to receive help and support from the Almighty.

Calling on God for help should not happen once - you need to turn to the Lord regularly and, first of all, express your gratitude to the Creator. For these purposes, the following text is suitable:

Guardian Angel

An Orthodox person should never forget about his most important helper and protector - the Guardian Angel.

You can pray to your heavenly intercessor under any circumstances: in joy and in sorrow, with or without a request.

It is best if the text is spoken three times, just before going to bed. Prayer will help the believer to become better, save his head from heavy thoughts. The first results from the application will be noticeable in a few weeks.

Benefit

Saying evening prayers will help enlist the support of higher powers, cleanse thoughts and consciousness of negativity, eliminate worries, anxieties and stresses, protect against troubles and dangers, bring peace to the life of the prayer, attract positive events.

And the calm state that usually comes after reading the sacred texts will most favorably affect sleep, protect against nightmares and insomnia, give a person the opportunity to relax and gain strength for the coming day.

For Orthodox Christians, the logical end of the day is the evening prayer rule.

In the evening, a person can calmly, without hurrying anywhere, be alone with the Lord, speak out before going to sleep at night.

Brief prayer rule

Believers also live and work in the modern accelerated rhythm of life, and sometimes it is not possible to read a full set of prayers. In this case, a short prayer rule is allowed.

It is also called the Seraphim Rule - the holy elder Seraphim of Sarov commanded every Christian to pray this way in the morning and evening.

Lord's Prayer. Our Father (read three times, in honor of the Holy Trinity)

Our Father, who art in heaven!

Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth.

Song of the Theotokos "Virgin Mary, Rejoice" (it is also read three times)

Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, gracious Mary, the Lord is with you, blessed are you in women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as if you gave birth to the Savior of our souls.

Creed (read once)

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son bow and glorify, who spoke the prophets. Into Unity, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the remission of sins. Tea of the resurrection of the dead. And the life of the next century. Amen.

At the end, just before going to bed, you need to overshadow yourself with the sign of the cross and say:

Confession of sins daily, pronounced in private especially

I confess to You, the Lord my God and Creator, in the Holy Trinity, the One, glorified and worshiped, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, all my sins that I have committed all the days of my life, and at every hour, and at the present time, by deed, by word, by thought, by sight, by hearing, by smell, by taste, by touch, and by all my senses, spiritual and bodily, with which I have angered You my God and Creator, and offended my neighbor.

Lying in bed, mark yourself with a cross and say a prayer to the Holy Cross:

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let all who hate Him flee from His Face. As smoke disappears, so let them disappear. As wax melts from fire, so let the demons perish at the sight of those who love God, and overshadow themselves with the sign of the cross and say with joy: “Rejoice, much-honored and life-giving Cross of the Lord, driving away demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ crucified on you, who descended into hell and who destroyed the power of the devil and gave us you, His honored Cross, to drive away every enemy. O most revered and life-giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Lady, the Virgin Mary, and with all the saints forever. Amen.

Or briefly:

Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your many-revered and life-giving Cross, and save me from all evil.

When you go to bed and fall asleep, say:

Into Your hands, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, I commend my spirit. You bless me, You have mercy on me and grant me eternal life. Amen.

Prayer before going to bed to the Guardian Angel

The Guardian Angel, introduced to the Christian after Holy Baptism, protects his ward every hour. Whenever there is a need, the Orthodox turn to their Guardian Angel, asking him for help and protection.

Angel of Christ, my holy guardian and patron of my soul and body! Forgive me everything in which I have sinned today, and deliver me from every insidious plan of the enemy coming against me, so that I do not anger my God with any sin. But pray for me, a sinful and unworthy slave, to present me worthy of the goodness and mercy of the Most Holy Trinity and Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ and all the saints. Amen.

Prayer before bed for a child

Very often faith comes to people after the birth of a child. Any mother is ready to do anything to protect her child. Before going to bed, for a good sleep, as well as any time of the day, you can turn to the Lord, the Most Holy Theotokos, the Guardian Angel and the saint whose name the child bears.

Prayer for children, to the Lord Jesus Christ

Sweetest Jesus, God of my heart! You gave me children according to the flesh, they are Yours according to your soul; You have redeemed both my soul and theirs with Your priceless blood. For the sake of Your Divine blood, I beg You, my sweetest Savior: by Your grace, touch the hearts of my children (names) and my godchildren (names), protect them with Your Divine fear, keep them from evil inclinations and habits, direct them to the bright path their life to all the good and saving ones, arrange their fate, as if You Yourself want it, and save their souls, in the image of fate.

Prayer for children to the Most Holy Theotokos

O Most Holy Lady Virgin Mother of God, save and save under Your roof my children (names), all youths, maidens and babies, baptized and nameless and carried in the womb of their mother. Cover them with the robe of Your motherhood, keep them in the fear of God and in obedience to your parents, implore my Lord and Your Son, may He grant them useful things for their salvation. I entrust them to Your Motherly care, as You are the Divine Cover of Your servants.

Prayer for children to the Guardian Angel

Holy Guardian Angel of my child (name), cover him with your cover from the arrows of the demon, from the eyes of the seducer and keep his heart in angelic purity. Amen.

Interpretation of evening prayers

For the laity, there are a variety of evening prayers and interpretations of texts, the priest or an independent study of the topic will help to clarify the meaning of which. Beginners of the prayer path can listen to the chants of the elders of Optina Hermitage before going to bed.

Optina elders healed the suffering, served people, predicted the future and prayed for all sinners. It is useful for everyone to plunge into the life of the Optina monks in order to study their holy deeds and night vigils.

Conclusion

For true Christians, the question of whether to pray or not is not worth it. For people who only want to come to God and a righteous life, the roads to the temple are open, and no matter when a person has made this decision, it is never too late.

Having come to church, a person must grow in faith and knowledge, study the Holy Scriptures, the works of the holy fathers, regularly attend Divine Services, then prayer will become an integral part of a Christian's life.

Foreword

The experience of educational work and interaction with the elderly in social service centers, with children under the Star of Bethlehem Orthodox-oriented children's recreation program, as well as with church-going adults in catechetical courses, reveals the enormous difficulties experienced by these categories of believers in prayerful communion with God . Due to age, employment, or weak church development of children's consciousness, they do not understand the prayer books in Church Slavonic that are in general church use. At the same time, such believers sometimes have no opportunity to attend Church Slavonic courses or study it at home on their own. In addition, due to a lack of prayer and church experience, it is rare for any of the new Christians to have the opportunity to read the morning and evening rule in full.
As a result of the foregoing, an urgent need arose to compile and publish the text of the main church prayers contained in the Orthodox prayer book in Russian. The creation of such a prayer book was approved by a large number of responsible church workers and authoritative clergy, as well as Orthodox youth leaders at the conference “Youth in the Church. Problems and ways of their solution” (2005).
A short prayer book for new Christians in Russian since 2004 is being prepared by me for publication. Over the years, on the basis of consultations with specialists, the prayer book has been revised many times, in 2007 it passed philological and theological censorship, and last year it received the approval of the Synodal Department of Religious Education and Catechesis. Currently, the Hierarchy is considering the possibility of publishing this prayer book. Until the appropriate decision, it cannot be officially published in printed form.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the abundance of Thy compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me many times from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my iniquities, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against You, the One, and done evil in Your eyes, so that You are righteous in Your judgment and pure in Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother bore me in sin. But, behold, You loved the truth and revealed to me the hidden secret of Your wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness, and broken bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me back my joy hope for salvation by Thee and the dominating Spirit strengthen me. I will teach the transgressors Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from spills God of blood, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will praise your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim Your praise. If You would have desired a sacrifice, I would have offered it, but You are not pleased with a burnt offering. Sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; You will not reject a contrite and humble heart, O God. Show me God Thy favor to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be erected. Then sacrifices of righteousness, offerings and burnt offerings, will be pleasing to You; then they will offer calves on your altar.

It is truly worthy to glorify You as the Mother of God, always blessed and immaculate, and the Mother of our God. We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who painlessly gave birth to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Master, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the Source of life and immortality, the Creator of all visible and invisible creation, the Father without beginning, also the eternal and also without beginning Son! By Thy excessive goodness in the last days, incarnated, crucified and buried for us, the ungrateful and malevolent, and by Thy blood renewed our nature corrupted by sin. You Yourself, immortal King, accept my sinful repentance; incline your ear to me and hear my words. For I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned against heaven and before You, and I am not worthy to lift my eyes into heavenly the height of thy glory; for I have angered thy goodness by transgressing thy commandments and not obeying thy commandments. But You, Lord, not malice, long-suffering, many-merciful, did not allow me to perish among my iniquities, in every possible way awaiting my conversion. For You have said, O Lover of mankind, through Your prophet that You do not desire the death of a sinner, but that he turn on the path of good and was alive. You do not want, Lord, that the creation of Your hands should perish, and You do not find satisfaction in human destruction, but You desire that all be saved and reach the knowledge of the truth. Therefore, even though I am not worthy of either heaven or earth, or this short life itself, since I have enslaved myself to sin and sensual pleasures and defiled in itself Your Image, but, being Your creation and creation, I, unfortunate, do not despair of my salvation and boldly resort to Your immeasurable mercy. Accept me also, O Lord, who loves mankind, as a harlot, as a robber, as a publican, as a prodigal son. And take away from me the heavy burden of sins - You, who take on the sin of the world and heal human infirmities, - calling to You the exhausted and burdened and giving them rest, - who came to call to repentance not the righteous, but sinners. And cleanse me from all impurity of body and soul, and teach me to lead a holy life in fear of You, so that, communing, with the pure testimony of my conscience, Your Holiness, I enter into unity with Your holy Body and Blood and have You living in me and abiding with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, my God! And may the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries not be condemned to me, and may I not become weak in soul and body from their unworthy communion; but let me, until my last breath, partake of Your Holy Things not in condemnation, a in communion with the Holy Spirit, as parting word to eternal life and as a favorable answer at Your terrible judgment, so that I, with all Your chosen ones, become a participant in the fullness of Your blessings prepared by You, Lord, for those who love You, in which You are glorified forever. Amen.

Lord, my God, I realize that I am unworthy and unprepared for You to enter under the shelter of the dwelling of my soul, because it is all empty and destroyed, and there is no worthy place in me where You could lay Your head. But how did You humiliate Yourself for us, having descended from high heavenly so now descend to my insignificance. And how pleased You were to lie down in a cave, in a manger without words animals so deign to enter into the manger of my reckless soul and into my defiled body. And just as You did not hesitate to enter and take part in the supper with sinners in the house of Simon the leper, so deign to enter into the dwelling of my humble, leper and sinful soul.

And just as You did not reject a harlot and a sinner like me, who came and touched You, so have mercy on me, a sinner, who comes and touches You. And just as You did not abhor her filthy and unclean lips that kissed You, so do not abhor even more than her, my filthy and unclean lips, vile and unclean lips and my nasty and even more unclean tongue. But let me be blazing the coal of Your most holy Body and Your precious Blood for sanctification and enlightenment, for the health of my humble soul and body, for the relief of the burden of many of my sins, for protection from any devilish influence, for the elimination and curbing of my bad and harmful habits, for the mortification of passions, for to prosper in Thy Commandments, to increase Thy divine grace, to gain Thy Kingdom. For I come to Thee, O Christ God, not as bold, but as one who trusts in Thy unspeakable mercy, and that, being far apart from Thee, I should not be snatched away by the spiritual wolf. Therefore, I pray to You: as the only Holy One, sanctify, Lord, my soul and body, mind and heart, all internal organs, and renew all of me, and root the fear of You in my members, and make Your sanctification indelible in me. Be my helper and intercessor, directing, like a helmsman, peacefully my life, may I be honored at the Court to stand at Your right hand with Your Saints, the prayers and intercession of Your All-Pure Mother, Your incorporeal servants and most pure Powers and all the saints who have pleased You from eternity. Amen.

Lord, the only pure and immortal, according to inexpressible yours compassion and philanthropy, who took upon Himself all our complex nature from the pure virgin blood that supernaturally gave birth to You by the influx of the Holy Spirit, by the good pleasure of the eternal Father, Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of God, peace and strength! You, who accepted life-giving and saving sufferings in the flesh You assumed: the cross, nails, death - kill my bodily passions that are destructive to the soul. You who devastated the kingdom of hell with Your burial, bury my bad intentions with good thoughts and scatter the spirits of evil. You, Your life-giving on the third day from the coffin who raised up the fallen forefather with revolt, raise me also, who fell into sin, giving me the means to repentance. You, who by Your glorious ascension deified the assumed flesh and honored it to sit at the right hand of the Father, make me worthy to reach the right side of those who are being saved by the communion of Your holy Mysteries. You, who by the descent of the Comforter of the Spirit made Your holy disciples precious vessels, make me also the receptacle of His coming. You, intending to come again to judge the universe righteously, make me worthy to meet, with all Your saints, You, my Judge and Creator, coming on the clouds, so that I endlessly glorify and sing to You, with Your Father without beginning and Your All-Holy, Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Master, Lord, Jesus Christ, our God, the only one who has the power to forgive people's sins! As a merciful and philanthropist, neglect all my sins, committed both consciously and unconsciously, and allow me, without being condemned, to partake of Your divine, glorious, pure and life-giving Mysteries, not burdensome transgressions, not in torment, not in the multiplication of sins, but in cleansing, sanctification, as a pledge of the future life and the Kingdom, in protection, help and driving away enemies, in the extermination of many of my sins. For You are a merciful, compassionate and philanthropic God, and to You we send glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5, St. Basil the Great

I know, Lord, that I unworthily partake of Your most pure Body and Your precious Blood, and am guilty, and I eat and drink condemnation to myself, not distinguishing Your Body and Blood, Christ and my God. But I, trusting in Your compassion, come to You, Who said: “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me and I in him.” Have mercy, O Lord, and do not rebuke me, a sinner, but deal with me according to Your mercy. And may this Shrine be to me in healing, purification, enlightenment, preservation and salvation, and in the sanctification of the soul and body; to drive away everyone empty dreams, evil deeds and the influence of the devil, manifested through thoughts in my members; in boldness before You and love for You, in the correction and affirmation of life in goodness, the growth of virtue and perfection, in the fulfillment of the commandments, in communion with the Holy Spirit, in farewell to eternal life, in a favorable answer at Your terrible judgment, - not in condemnation or as punishment.

Prayer six, St. John Chrysostom

Let go, forgive me, forgive me my sins, O God, with which I have sinned against Thee in word, deed, thought, voluntarily and involuntarily, consciously and unconsciously, forgive me everything, for You are good and Lover of mankind. And through the prayers of Your most pure Mother, Your incorporeal servants and holy Forces, and all the saints who have pleased You from the beginning of the world, favor me to accept Your holy and most pure Body and honest Blood without condemnation, for the healing of soul and body and for the purification of my evil thoughts: for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

The seventh prayer, his

I am not worthy, Master Lord, that You should enter under the shelter of my soul. But since You, Lover of mankind, want to live in me, I boldly approach. You command, and I will open the doors that You alone created, and You will enter with ordinary philanthropy, You will enter and enlighten my darkened mind. I believe that You will do it. For You did not leave the harlot who came to You with tears; did not reject the repentant publican; did not drive away even the robber who recognized the King in You; did not leave what he was, and the repentant persecutor Your Paul; but to all who came to You with repentance, You gave a place in the host of Your friends, the only Blessed One always, now and forever and ever. Amen.

Eighth prayer, his

Lord Jesus Christ, my God, weaken, let go, cleanse, have mercy and forgive me, a sinner, worthless and unworthy servant of Yours, all my mistakes, sins and falls, with which I have sinned against You from my youth to this day and hour: consciously or unconsciously, in words or deeds, inclinations, thoughts, aspirations and all my feelings. And with the prayers of the most pure Ever-Virgin Mary, Your Mother, who has unseedfully given birth to You, my only firm hope, protection and salvation, grant me the right to partake of Your most pure, eternal, saving and terrible Mysteries, without incurring condemnation, for the remission of sins and eternal life, into sanctification and enlightenment, into strength, healing and health of the soul and body, into the extermination and complete destruction of my evil thoughts, thoughts and intentions, as well as impure dreams, dark and evil spirits. For to You belongs the Kingdom and power and glory and honor and worship, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Before the doors of your temple I stand, and after all I don't leave bad thoughts. But you, Christ God, who justified the publican and had mercy on the Canaanite woman and opened the doors of paradise to the thief, open your loving heart to me and accept me, who comes and touches you, as you accepted harlot and bleeding: for one, touching the hem of your garment, immediately received healing; the other, embracing Your pure feet, received the forgiveness of sins.

And I, unfortunate, deciding to accept Your whole Body, may I not burn; but accept me as You accepted those women, and enlighten the feelings of my soul, burning my sins, with prayers without the seed of You who gave birth and the heavenly Forces. For blessed are You forever and ever. Amen.

Tenth Prayer, St. John Chrysostom

I believe, Lord, and I confess that You are indeed the Christ, the Son of the Living God, Who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I also believe that this is Your very pure Body and this is Your very precious Blood. Therefore, I ask You: have mercy on me and forgive me my sins, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in word or deed, consciously or unconsciously; and make me worthy, without condemnation, to partake of Your most pure Mysteries in order to receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Amen.

End of prayers

It is truly worthy to glorify You as the Mother of God, always blessed and immaculate, and the Mother of our God. We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who painlessly gave birth to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, in prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Immediately before Communion, if possible, say the following verses to yourself:

Here I come to divine communion. Creator, do not scorch me with communion! For You are the fire that burns the unworthy. But cleanse me from all impurity.

never such kissing like Judas, but like a thief, I openly express my faith in You, saying: “Remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom!”

And the following verses:

Human, tremble at the sight of the divine Blood! She is the fire that burns the unworthy. The body of God deifies and nourishes me: it deifies the spirit, incomprehensibly nourishes the mind.

Then troparia:

You attracted me, O Christ, with love and changed me with a holy desire for You. My sins have fallen into immaterial fire and make me worthy to enjoy You sweetly, so that I rejoicingly glorify Your two comings.

How can I, unworthy, enter into the bright assembly of Your saints? After all, if I decide to enter the chamber with them marriage, the clothes will give me away, for they are not the same as they go to marriage, and I will be bound and driven out by the Angels. Cleanse, O Lord, the impurity of my soul and save me as a Lover of mankind.

Also a prayer:

Vladyka - Lover of mankind, Lord, Jesus Christ my God, may this Holy thing be to me not as an accusation for my unworthiness, but as a purification of soul and body and as a pledge of future life and Kingdom. But it is good for me to cling to God, to place in the Lord the hope of my salvation.

And again:

Receive me today as a participant in Your sacramental Supper, Son of God, for I never I will not betray secrets to Your enemies and I will not give You such kissing like Judas, but like a thief, I openly express my faith in You, saying: Remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom!

PRAYERS AFTER HOLY COMMUNION

Glory to Thee, God! Glory to Thee, God! Glory to Thee, God!

Prayer of thanksgiving, first

I thank You, Lord, my God, that You did not reject me, a sinner, but made me worthy to partake of Your Holy Things. I thank You that You made me worthy, unworthy, to partake of Your most pure heavenly Gifts. But, Lord-Loving Man, who died for us and rose again and bestowed on us these terrible life-giving Mysteries for the benefit and sanctification of our souls and bodies, make them also for me, for the healing of soul and body, for the reflection of every enemy, for the enlightenment of the eyes of my heart, into the world of my spiritual strength, into firm faith, into unfeigned love, into the enlightenment of the mind, into the observance of Thy commandments, into the multiplication of Thy divine grace, and into the acquisition of Thy Kingdom; so that, being kept by them in purity before You, I always remember Your mercy and live no longer for myself, but for You, our Lord and Benefactor. And thus, leaving this life in the hope of Eternal life, I will come to a place of eternal rest, where the voices of the triumphant do not stop and where the joy of those who look at the inexpressible beauty of Your face is endless. For You are the true goal of aspiration every person and the inexplicable joy of those who love You, Christ our God, and all creation sings of You forever. Amen.

Prayer two, St. Basil the Great

Master, Christ God, King of the ages and Creator of all peace! I thank You for all the blessings that You have given me, and for the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries. And so I pray to You, merciful and philanthropist: save me under Your protection, and give me with a clear conscience until my last breath worthy to partake of Your Holy Things for the remission of sins and eternal life. For You are the Bread of Life, the Source of sanctification, the Giver of blessings. And to You we send glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer three, St. Simeon Metaphrastus

Lord, who voluntarily gave me Your flesh as food, You are the fire that burns the unworthy! Do not burn me, my Creator! But go into the members of my body, into all the joints, into the insides, into the heart, and the thorns of all my sins fell. Purify my soul, sanctify my thoughts, strengthen me in my activity, enlighten my feelings, saturate me all with fear of You. Always protect, protect, protect me from every deed and word harmful to the soul. Purify, wash, adorn me; strengthen, enlighten and enlighten me. Make me Your temple of the one Spirit and no longer a dwelling place of sin, so that after receiving Communion, every villain, every passion fled from me, as from Your house, as from fire. As intercessors for myself, I present to You all the saints, the chiefs of the incorporeal Forces, Your Forerunner, the wise Apostles and, above them, Your immaculate, most pure Mother. Accept their prayers, my merciful Christ, and make Thy servant a son of light. For You, the Merciful One, are the only sanctification and illumination of our souls. And to You, as befits a God and Master, we all send glory every day.

Prayer Four

Thy Holy Body, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, may it be to me for eternal life, and Thy precious Blood for the remission of sins: and may this communion be to me in joy, health and gladness;

in your terrible and second coming, vouchsafe me a sinner, to stand in your glory, through the prayers of your Most Pure Mother and all the saints.

Prayer Five, to the Most Holy Theotokos

Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, my joy! I thank You that You made me worthy, unworthy, to partake of the most pure Body and the precious Blood of Your Son. Having given birth to the true Light, enlighten the spiritual eyes of my heart. Give birth to the Source of immortality, revive me, mortified by sin. Merciful God, merciful Mother, have mercy on me and give me tenderness and contrition in my heart, humility in thoughts, a return to the good thoughts of my mind, in cases of his enthusiasm. And vouchsafe me until my last breath, without being condemned, to accept the sanctuary of the most pure Mysteries for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and thanksgiving, that I may sing and glorify Thee all the days of my life, for Thou art blessed and glorified forever. Amen.

Now you release Your servant, Lord, according to Your word, in peace, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to enlighten the Gentiles and the glory of Your people, Israel.

Then the end of thanksgiving prayers:

Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who gave birth without illness to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

After the Communion of the Body and Blood of the Lord, let everyone remain in purity, abstinence and laconicism, in order to worthily preserve the Christ received in himself.

The sign of the cross is the hand-drawing of the sign of the Cross by a Christian as a sign of our witness to the truth of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. A symbol of belonging to Christ.

.

They are considered a powerful amulet against troubles, troubles and even nightmares. It is not for nothing that many Christians begin to read prayers in the morning and in the evening so as not to be subjected to negative magical effects in a dream. It is believed that it is in a dream that Satan not only seduces with bad deeds, but can also become a conductor of negative energy. Why is it necessary? And what do they give as a result to different people?

What are prayers and how to read them

Depending on the specific task that worries you the most, all evening prayers should be divided into 3 types. The first are considered amulets and they are read simply to express their gratitude to God, as well as to protect themselves from bad dreams and negative magical effects. You can simply cross yourself with the words: “Lord have mercy!” several times and light a candle or lamp as a talisman. But this method is suitable when there is a shortage of time, when a person is very tired or no danger or trouble threatens him.

The second prayer is read if a person wants to especially thank God for a well-lived day or pray longer. Usually the Lord hears your words and requests in the evening or at night. To do this, you can read several prayers, for example, "Our Father", "I Believe" and many others. There is also a special evening prayer for the coming dream, which is read for good dreams and just as a talisman against evil forces. Usually it is read to children and in case you want to thank God in a special way for grace. Here is her text.

But in some situations, the evening prayer for the coming dream will help you get rid of obsessions and nightmares. Or if you feel a negative magical effect on yourself. Usually, prayer at night, along with a daytime ritual aimed at neutralizing negativity, damage and the evil eye, relieves nightmares and allows even impressionable children to sleep peacefully.
