Blot material. We draw a blot, create a drop, an ink blot in a Photoshop lesson

In the good old days, when quill quills were used for writing, which had to be dipped in ink, putting a blot on paper was a piece of cake. It was enough to gape a little, not to completely shake off the pen, or just carelessly pull the hand, and the letter was spoiled. There was a huge blot on it, indicating that the work would have to be rewritten. Now only people who are passionate about rarity write with a pen in order to feel the atmosphere of the past.

Fountain pens vs fountain pens

In Soviet times, there appeared which had to be refilled with ink on their own. Embarrassment with blots happened less frequently, but was not completely eliminated. Fountain pens, like their predecessors, continued to spoil writing, forcing redoing, rewriting and tearing out damaged sheets. Now, when the ball is ruled by a fountain pen, it is almost impossible to see a blot. Such an event can happen only in emergency situations, for example, if a rod leaks in hot weather. Children began to forget what a blot is, because a fountain pen is convenience and practicality.

Blot in cartoons about schoolboys-loafers

In many of our favorite Soviet cartoons about would-be students, there are episodes when a schoolboy puts an inkblot in his notebook. Doing homework, which already seems difficult to him, the character becomes terribly angry because of the incident. Modern kids, looking through old cartoons, are wondering what a blot is and where it comes from. It is difficult for them to understand the whole mechanism and history of the formation of an inkblot, because the fountain pens they use do not flow. Here, as always, parents come to the rescue, who can not only explain everything intelligibly, but also clearly show the child, using the example of paints, gouache or watercolor, how to draw a blot. Learning new things is much more interesting if you do it together.

Joint creativity

The shape of the blot resembles a blurry spot of paint or ink. The most accurate way to explain to a child about it is in several ways, for which you will need an album and paints for drawing, a brush and a simple pencil:

  1. The first way is with a brush and paints. Having dipped the brush in water, and then, smearing it thickly with paint, you need to lift it above the landscape sheet and wait until the colored drop falls on the sheet. Under the force of its weight, it will take on a unique shape. It is easy to draw a blot, even a one-year-old baby can handle it.
  2. The second way is using a simple pencil. How to draw a blot with a pencil? Simple, if you are not afraid and show a little creative abilities that are inherent in each of us. To do this, you just need to reproduce circles or ovals that are uneven in shape and proportions on paper. This should be done by including fantasy in the work, because each blot is unique. It may seem to inexperienced artists that they are the same, but this is an absolute delusion.
  3. The third original way of drawing a blot will be this: to begin with, it is worth completely decorating an album sheet or any canvas intended for work with a uniform paint. Then you should dip a clean brush into ordinary water and, without shaking it off, hold it over a sheet of paper that has been pre-painted. A drop of water will certainly fall on the canvas and leave a mark in the form of a blurry place. This will be the blot. This method gives an answer to the question of how to draw a blot with clean water. Using it as a competition at events, you can captivate the kids for a long time, and this, as you know, is very valuable.

How to draw a blot and turn it into a masterpiece?

That's not all. The resulting blurry spots are easy to turn into funny monsters or wonderful jellyfish. After visual explanations to the child about how to draw a blot, you can proceed to this more exciting activity. This is easy to do by adding a few original details: eyes, nose, mouth. You can draw whole families of similar monsters or make everyone different. Everything is decided by imagination and fantasy. Drawing is easy when you do it in a good mood and in a cheerful company. Such interesting joint creative activities are also good to hold in large children's companies, for example, at some kind of holiday. Children with great pleasure will laugh at each other's original masterpieces.

Draw with children, the whole family - it's exciting and funny.

Kids love to draw blots on a white sheet. Moms and dads most often throw away such drawings. But in vain! It turns out that brilliant drawings can be created from such blots. There is even such an unconventional drawing technique called blotography. What is claxography? It's easy to guess! This is a way of drawing in which blots are not a mistake or a manifestation of carelessness, but are placed on paper on purpose and even deliberately.

What's the use?

It was in the fairy tale about the precious key that Malvina punished Pinocchio for placing an inkblot, and modern parents and teachers do not scold for inkblots. After all, drawing with blots is very useful, and also incredibly interesting.

Klyaksography is very popular. Both kids and adults are addicted to it. And it's not even weird. After all, this technique intensively develops creative imagination in children. On the one hand, you might think that a little man can take out of his blot. However, each spot made has a unique shape and size. And by adding a little of your imagination to this, you can get a silhouette of an object, a fragment from life or an image of an animal.

In the first steps on getting to know the technique, you should be next to the child. After all, most often little men cannot discern something significant from the first time in bizarre blots.

Drawing technique

In order to start creating incredible drawings in this technique, a lot of materials and tools are not needed.

Before starting work on a masterpiece, you should prepare the following materials on your desk:

  • brush. It is best if it is synthetic. In addition, you can take an ordinary toothbrush for work;
  • paints. It can be either watercolor or gouache diluted with water. The main thing is that the paint should be of a liquid consistency. By the way, artistic ink is also used in working on such a technique. It comes in different colors;
  • cardboard or a sheet of white paper for the base;
  • water container;
  • cocktail straw;
  • pipette;
  • damp cloth or wipes. With the help of them, you can easily remove dirt from your hands, as well as excess streaks on paper.

Stages of the creative process

For those who are about to begin to get acquainted with this technique, the first thing to do is to determine the theme of their drawing. At the initial stage, it is very important to focus and set the direction. Having made a few blots, you can turn on your imagination and try to discern some outlines and silhouettes of a living being or object. Or maybe an amazing underwater world or a fairy-tale planet is located on a piece of paper?!

There are several ways to help create amazing drawings:

  • The most common is the drip method. However, this method is most often used to create landscapes. To create it, use a wide brush. Having carefully soaked it with paint, place the brush over the paper and begin to spray gouache. In order to create such an effect only on a certain section of the sheet, you need to tap the brush on your hand or finger. And in order to increase the spray area, you just need to shake the brush. In addition, you can use a pipette for spot application of paint. With its help, you can depict both small blots and large ones.

  • There is another way - the method of spreading. In this case, the liquid paint is blown in different directions using a regular drink tube. Thus, unimaginable silhouettes are obtained. For example, trees and bushes. Then they can draw leaves, flowers and berries.

Whichever option is chosen, the drawing process will certainly benefit and allow you to spend your free time interestingly. And in the future, you can develop skills in both techniques of drawing with blots.

Blotography is a painting technique based on spontaneous spots and splashes.

It can be used for various purposes.

  1. To create decorative backgrounds (in postcards, for example)
  2. For fantasy exercises
  3. For art therapy - pulling out images of a problem from the subconscious and transforming them
  4. To create works of art.

I’ll tell you about the last point another time, but for now let’s try what blotography is.

Materials:

In order to do blotting, you need paper. Lots of paper. For the process captures, and I want to “tarnish” as much space as possible. Therefore, take a pile of paper easier - gray for writing or white for the printer.
Still need ink or ink. If not, then watercolor paints will do. Let's take a bigger brush. Even a paint brush will do.

Workspace preparation:

Before starting the process, cover the surface of the table with newspapers or film. Perhaps everything around will also have to be covered so that the spray flying in all directions does not stain the interior. It would be nice to protect your clothes with an apron - the mascara is practically not washed off.

Blotography, technique for creating blots:

Now that everything is ready, you can start to fall into madness. 🙂

  • Pick up the ink on the brush and shake it onto paper to make blots. The beauty?

You can impulsively move your hand over the paper, you can just drip ink, you can tilt the sheet so that the ink flows in different directions. And you can also blow on drops of paint, and they will spread in beautiful streaks. To do this, it is convenient to take a cocktail straw.

Here are a couple of stains that I got.

The first one reminds me of a flower. And the second evokes some unpleasant associations with internal organs ... True, it still looks like a bean with a sprout ...

I suggest that you also play mindlessly with your blots. This is exactly what was forbidden in childhood. And now we are adults and we can afford to fool around a little and fall into madness ... 🙂

Let go of your hand and let her paint whatever she wants. Let the subconscious, through the movements of the body, throw out what it needs.

Spontaneous splashes and “inflated” blots, of course, have little to do with the work of the subconscious, but they adorn the graphic sheet well. So try both. In different versions, and on the same sheet at the same time.

So, what is next?

  • After you play enough, take a break, looking at the work. Choose the ones that tell you something or are interesting compositions of spots.
  • Now you can turn on your imagination and complete the paintings with a few neat strokes.

Here's what happened to me.

The second work with the “organ” I first revived with a flower sprouting from a seed. The result was still not pleasing, and therefore I shaded the black and white image with color. This is perfectly acceptable on the chart.

This picture clearly bears an art-therapeutic orientation.

Such works are important not for their artistic side, but for what they mean to us personally. They require us to make adjustments to them until we are satisfied with the changes that have taken place in them. Thus, we kind of give our subconscious a way to solve the problem.

But the picture with a flower was important precisely as a pictorial motif. I finalized it by drawing a flower stem, stamens, a caddisfly. This one can be hung on the wall. 🙂

I hope that you will like this way of creating graphic images. After all, they have something that attracts attention so much - the energy of movement, the play of spontaneity and awareness.

The technique of blotography can be successfully used to create completely artistic works. Such as we do in the course “Watercolor Fantasies”:

The watercolor technique includes many different techniques that awaken your imagination and help your inner Artist to open up.

I want you to try your hand at watercolor and love this wonderful material.

Therefore, I offer you

Young children love to leave blots on paper. Parents, underestimating the "masterpieces" of their own children, get rid of incomprehensible drawings. But it turns out that from the left blots you can create a unique pattern. There is even such a drawing technique - blotography.

Blotography refers to silhouette art, but the history of figurative painting dates back to Ancient Greece. The images on the amphoras reveal scenes of mythology, the Olympic Games and the life of the gods of Olympus. But this type of art became most popular in the 18-19th century. Many artists started working in this technique and created a huge amount of work in this technique. Such was the history of the emergence of the drawing technique - blotography.

Drawings made using the blot technique are a unique way to get children interested in drawing, to make them want to learn this type of fine art and to remember their childhood time. The method is absolutely not complicated, but very exciting, developing not only drawing skills and abilities, but also imagination, ingenuity, and perseverance. Blotography is perhaps one of the most unusual ways in drawing. Moreover, it is considered to be an unconventional technique, as, indeed, many others, where material unusual for this purpose is used.

With the help of blotography, a variety of plants, trees of different species and shrubs are well obtained.

Positive aspects of blotography

Recently, this type of drawing has become very popular. A random spot that appears on a paper sheet due to negligence may have a unique structure. As much as you would like, this pattern will not be repeated again. By adding a little imagination and creativity of thinking, any blot can be turned into an object, an animal or a fictional creature.

This type of activity has absolutely no age restrictions. That is, both children and adults can do it.

Blotography drawing technique

Required Tool

To create a unique drawing, you need to prepare the following material:

  • Artistic brush. It is advisable to use hard brushes. Sometimes children resort to using a toothbrush to depict a large blot.
  • Paints. In this art form, only liquid watercolor is used. If there are no suitable paints at hand, then you can simply dilute the existing watercolor with water. By the way, multi-colored ink has the necessary consistency for drawing. It can also be used for drawing.
  • Cardboard or white paper.
  • Water tank.
  • Cotton buds.
  • Wet rag. Used to remove dirt from hands.

Stages of the creative process

So, blotography is a drawing technique. Where to begin? If you are new to this area, then you should first decide on the theme of the future drawing. Here it is extremely important to direct mental activity in the right direction, in other words, to set the direction. Having made a blot on a piece of paper, turn on your fantasy and try to see in it the outlines of an object or living being. Maybe you have an amazing planet or a picturesque underwater world in front of you.

There are several ways to create a drawing using blotography.

The most common is the drip method..

Here you need a wide, voluminous brush. It should be carefully saturated with paint, and then, placing it over a piece of paper, begin to spray watercolor. If you want the drops to irrigate a small area, tap the brush on your finger or hand. When the brush is simply shaken, the spatter area increases. For spot application of paint, use a pipette. By the way, with its help, you can create a large blot, thus depicting, for example, the sun. Most often, landscapes are created using this method of blotting.

In the second method of blotography, the spreading method is used.

To do this, a large blot is applied to the corner of the sheet with a brush. Importantly, the paint must be very liquid. Then, using a drinking tube, they begin to inflate the paint on the surface of the paper. It is advisable to direct the watercolor in different directions. Now you need to look at the resulting drawing and finish the details.

Blotography will help children experiment with paints and have fun. In the process of drawing a picture that uses the blotography technique, children:

  • eye and hand coordination develops
  • develops fantasy, creative vision and imagination,
  • skills in working with paints, brushes,
  • children learn to convey the silhouettes of people, plants and animals,
  • diligence, attentiveness, accuracy develops.

The imagination of kids is limitless, but the possession of drawing technique is most often lame. It is blotography that can help children draw even what they do not know how to draw at all. Kids will be able to give free rein to their imagination and draw whatever their imagination tells them. Children will be able to get acquainted with what ordinary blotography is, and there is also blotography with a tube and blotography with a thread.

Educational activities for children 3-5 years old (Blotography)

Blotography refers to silhouette art, but the history of figurative painting dates back to Ancient Greece. The images on the amphoras reveal scenes of mythology, the Olympic Games and the life of the gods of Olympus. But this type of art became most popular in the 18-19th century. Many artists began to work in this technique and created a huge number of works in the technique of blotography. Such was the history of the emergence of such a drawing technique as blotography.

But even more interesting than the history of inkblotography are classes where such an unconventional drawing technique is used. Blotography will help children experiment with paints and have fun. The blot technique is to use an ordinary drop of paint, colloquially known as blots. In the process of drawing, children will get very unexpected images, to which it will be possible to draw details.

In the process of studying in kindergarten and drawing a picture using the blot technique, children:

  • eye and hand coordination develops
  • develops fantasy, creative vision and imagination,
  • skills in working with paints, brushes,
  • children learn to convey the silhouettes of people, plants and animals,
  • diligence, attentiveness, accuracy develops.

Watercolor

Let us give as an example a master class of a lesson where blotography will be used for

drawing. Such a master class can be easily arranged for children in kindergarten, and the drawings of the kids will decorate the group or exhibition.

Drawing "Butterfly" with the help of watercolor and blotography will be very easy to draw. Just fold the paper in half and apply two large spots of watercolor on one side of the paper near the fold line. Now fold the leaf in half. When you open the leaf, you will get very beautiful butterfly wings with intricate patterns. You can now finish the details, such as the torso, antennae and the drawing is ready. Such a master class is easy to use when conducting classes for young children, since this method of drawing will be very simple.

Pencil

Of course, you can draw with the help of blotography and using both paints and pencils at the same time. We will tell you the technique of drawing with a tube. And this time the master class will be devoted to how to draw a tree.

Take a large brush and put a large blot of brown watercolor paint in the corner. Now, take a hollow water tube and start blowing the paint in different directions. You will get tree branches. Let the branches dry, and then you can take a pencil and draw leaves on the branches with it. So the tree will turn out very realistic.

If you have an idea to draw a specific tree, for example, a rowan, then there is a good way to continue our master class. Take ordinary ear sticks to class, they will come in handy for drawing rowan berries. Dip the wand in the paint and draw a neat dot on the paper. This will be your mountain ash, we hope you remember that the tree has fruits that grow in tassels.

Master Class. Issue 21 (Blotography)

Spray

We will tell you about another equally interesting master class that can diversify activities for children in kindergarten. Teach the kids to blot print the splatter technique. It will be very beautiful and fun.

Classes and a master class using this drawing technique should be carried out using watercolor paint. You need a blank sheet of paper and paint with a brush. Pick up the desired paint on the brush and start spraying the paint by hitting the brush on your finger. Drops will begin to seal on the paper. If desired, you can add a few large drops with a brush. The drawing will be ready when you see fit.
