Blotography refers to silhouette art, but the history of figurative painting dates back to Ancient Greece. The images on the amphoras reveal scenes of mythology, the Olympic Games and the life of the gods of Olympus. But this type of art became most popular in the 18-19th century. Many artists began to work in this technique and created a huge number of works in the technique of blotography. Such was the history of the emergence of such a drawing technique as blotography.

But even more interesting than the history of inkblotography are classes where such an unconventional drawing technique is used. Blotography will help children experiment with paints and have fun. The blot technique is to use an ordinary drop of paint, colloquially known as blots. In the process of drawing, children will get very unexpected images, to which it will be possible to draw details.

Drawing "Butterfly" with the help of watercolor and blotography will be very easy to draw. Just fold the paper in half and apply two large spots of watercolor on one side of the paper near the fold line. Now fold the leaf in half. When you open the leaf, you will get very beautiful butterfly wings with intricate patterns. You can now finish the details, such as the torso, antennae and the drawing is ready. Such a master class is easy to use when conducting classes for young children, since this method of drawing will be very simple.

Pencil

Of course, you can draw with the help of blotography and using both paints and pencils at the same time. We will tell you the technique of drawing with a tube. And this time the master class will be devoted to how to draw a tree.

Take a large brush and put a large blot of brown watercolor paint in the corner. Now, take a hollow water tube and start blowing the paint in different directions. You will get tree branches. Let the branches dry, and then you can take a pencil and draw leaves on the branches with it. So the tree will turn out very realistic.

If you have an idea to draw a specific tree, for example, a rowan, then there is a good way to continue our master class. Take ordinary ear sticks to class, they will come in handy for drawing rowan berries. Dip the wand in the paint and draw a neat dot on the paper. It would seem that a baby can learn something useful from an ordinary blot. In fact, a randomly made paint spot has a unique, non-repeating shape and size. And if you apply a little imagination, then an ordinary blot can be given the outline of an object or create an image of an animal. - Art brush. It is advisable to use hard brushes. Sometimes children resort to using a toothbrush to depict a large blot.

If you want the drops to irrigate a small area, tap the brush on your finger or hand. When the brush is simply shaken, the spatter area increases. For spot application of paint, use a pipette. By the way, with its help, you can create a large blot, thus depicting, for example, the sun. Most often, landscapes are created using this method of blotting.

In the second method of blotting use spreading method.

To do this, a large blot is applied to the corner of the sheet with a brush. Importantly, the paint must be very liquid. Then, using a drinking tube, they begin to inflate the paint on the surface of the paper. It is advisable to direct the watercolor in different directions. Now take a closer look at the resulting picture, what does it remind you of? Maybe rowan bush?

If yes, then you should complete the drawing by drawing red fruits on the branch. To do this, use a cotton swab. Just soak the “tool” in the paint of the desired color and draw rowan leaves and berries. The resulting drawing, if desired, can be decorated with an original frame.

For the first few lessons, the child may need adult help. Most often, kids cannot immediately make out familiar outlines in a blot.

Here's what happened to me.

The second work with the “organ” I first revived with a flower sprouting from a seed. The result was still not pleasing, and therefore I shaded the black and white image with color. This is perfectly acceptable on the chart.

This picture clearly bears an art-therapeutic orientation.

Such works are important not for their artistic side, but for what they mean to us personally. They require us to make adjustments to them until we are satisfied with the changes that have taken place in them. Thus, we kind of give our subconscious a way to solve the problem.

But the picture with a flower was important precisely as a pictorial motif. I finalized it by drawing a flower stem, stamens, a caddisfly. This one can be hung on the wall. 🙂

To do this, you just need to reproduce circles or ovals that are uneven in shape and proportions on paper. This should be done by including fantasy in the work, because each blot is unique. It may seem to inexperienced artists that they are the same, but this is an absolute delusion.
3. The third original way of drawing a blot will be this: to begin with, it is worth completely decorating an album sheet or any canvas intended for work with a uniform paint. Then you should dip a clean brush into ordinary water and, without shaking it off, hold it over a sheet of paper that has been pre-painted. A drop of water will certainly fall on the canvas and leave a mark in the form of a blurry place. This will be the blot. This method gives an answer to the question of how to draw a blot with clean water. Using it as a competition at events, you can captivate the kids for a long time, and this, as you know, is very valuable.

How to draw a blot and turn it into a masterpiece?

That's not all. The resulting blurry spots are easy to turn into funny monsters or wonderful jellyfish. After visual explanations to the child about how to draw a blot, you can proceed to this more exciting activity. This is easy to do by adding a few original details: eyes, nose, mouth. You can draw whole families of similar monsters or make everyone different. Everything is decided by imagination and fantasy. Drawing is easy when you do it in a good mood and in a cheerful company.
