What is not allowed to be taken on a plane. New rules for carrying hand luggage on an airplane: what you can take and what you can’t

A passenger who is going to fly by plane must understand the difference between checked-in baggage and classic carry-on baggage. These are completely different concepts - by distinguishing them, you can save a lot. Baggage is a large suitcase that you check in when boarding, it goes through check-in and checks. Hand luggage on an airplane is a backpack or travel bag carried by a passenger on board. It should be of such weight and dimensions that you can lay it on top yourself.

If you have taken an economy class ticket, you have the right to carry a bag for one piece of luggage with you on board the aircraft. In business class, you are usually allowed to occupy two seats.

One place means a bag with the sum of the sides up to 115 centimeters (height, length, width add up). The standard "flight" bag has dimensions 55*40*20. The weight of the bag for different carriers is “floating”: it can vary depending on the route or type of aircraft. For example, Aeroflot allows the carriage of 10 kilograms of hand luggage, Lufthansa - 8 kg., KLM - almost 12 kg.

You must carry your carry-on baggage yourself

Most carriers of the CIS countries and Europe practice a lot of luggage in the range of 8-10 kilograms. Before departure, be sure to check this information on the company's website so as not to find yourself in an unpleasant situation: some air carriers turn a blind eye to overload, others force you to pay the cost of second place even with an overload of 300-500 grams.

Note: some US and Canadian carriers provide 2 pieces of hand luggage even in economy class. This is a good way to save money, because if your bag is heavier, then it counts as second place and is paid separately.

Carefully study the information when buying tickets for low-cost airlines. They very often limit the size and weight of luggage.

What is allowed in hand luggage?

Very often, novice travelers do not know what to take in hand luggage. This is a really interesting and important question.

Liquids

Almost all carriers strictly limit the volume of transported liquids to a volume of 100 ml. The following rules must be observed:

  1. All tubes are packed in one package. Dividing them into several is prohibited. One passenger has one package.
  2. Any liquids must be carried in containers and tubes, and their volume should not exceed 100 ml. This applies to everything: gels, creams, water, alcohol, juices, etc.
  3. Containers with liquids must be in a plastic bag with zippers. At the same time, most airlines allow the use of standard size bags (20 by 20 cm).
  4. The total volume of liquid funds in your suitcase should not exceed one liter.
  5. Be sure to present the packaging when passing the counter for control by the relevant specialists.

Note: not a single vial should exceed the norm of 100 ml. You will not be able to hold 50 ml. shampoo in 250 pack. If the volume is indicated on the package, then the customs officers will not have any questions.

All liquids must be packed in a ziplock bag.

If you are carrying baby food, then it does not need to be packed in a bag. But be sure to present it at the counter. Keep in mind that the security service may ask you to open absolutely any tube for verification. When transporting medicines with narcotic substances, you will need a prescription signed and stamped by a doctor.

You can not carry any aerosols in your baggage, only if they are not medicines. In this case, you will have to present a certificate of diagnosis or a prescription with a seal from the doctor.

What can I take on a plane with drinks? Absolutely everything, but only in containers with a volume of not more than one hundred ml. It can be juice, mineral water, ordinary water, alcohol (strength not more than 70%). However, some carriers prohibit any consumption of alcohol on board.

Hygiene products

You can bring a safety razor, hard deodorants, wipes, soap, shampoos, masks, etc. with you. But remember that most cosmetics fall under the concept of “liquid” and have the above restrictions.

Note: Do not drag mountains of creams and varnishes with you on the plane. It is easier to buy them on the spot or use the free ones in hotels.

Electronics

Various electronic gadgets have already become commonplace - it is difficult to meet a tourist traveling without a laptop, smartphone, tablet or player. All this can be freely carried in luggage, however, you will most likely be asked to put large items for additional inspection (usually laptops are checked). Never check fragile electronics in luggage - they will most likely be broken or broken. Remember that a laptop and a camera are not hand luggage, but personal items. That is, if according to the rules you can take 10 kg on a plane, then a laptop does not fall into these 10 kilograms. This allows you to save a lot, but just find out the policy of the air carrier in advance.

For a laptop, you can take a separate bag that will fit other useful things.

The rest of the electronics, up to hygiene products (electric shavers, hair dryers, hair straighteners, etc.) will not cause any questions from the security service.

Food

Air carriers have no special requirements for food, but customs officers may have complaints. You can take any dry and solid foods with you on the plane:

  • cookies, chips, waffles, snacks;
  • various nuts (peanuts, walnuts, pistachios);
  • vegetables and fruits (in a reasonable amount);
  • pastries, cakes, sweets;
  • sausage, sausages, sandwiches, meatballs.

Note: honey, yoghurts, various canned foods and soups are considered liquid. Accordingly, they can be transported in containers with the same volume of 100 ml.

What about Duty Free?

If you buy goods in the duty-free zone, then the restrictions on 100 ml. do not work. But at the same time, you must not violate the packaging of the goods. Remember that if you are flying with transfers, then you need to keep purchased liquids sealed until the end of the trip. If the packaging is broken, they will most likely be confiscated.

Note: Goods bought in duty-free are not considered personal items, but are packed in a backpack. Accordingly, the weight of hand luggage will increase and you may be fined.

What else can you take into the salon?

Many airlines allow you to carry personal items in addition to luggage. Their list includes:

  • folding umbrellas;
  • shawls, blankets, pillows;
  • laptop bags, women's handbags;
  • laptops, tablets, cameras (a tripod must be packed in luggage);
  • books, newspapers, magazines;
  • cradles for children and folding strollers;
  • crutches for personal use.

This list may not apply to low-cost airlines: they usually force you to put all your things in one bag. But it all depends on the policy of the company - be sure to find out this question. Taking extra weight in low-cost airlines is not recommended, as you will be forced to pay for an “extra seat”, and its price can be equal to half the ticket.

What can't be taken?

You have already learned what you can carry in hand luggage on an airplane, now we will talk about what is forbidden to take on board.

  1. Any liquids with a volume of more than one hundred ml.
  2. Any products of animal origin (lard, meat, milk). But if the products are part of a sandwich, then you can carry them.
  3. Any dangerous items (knives, retractable razors, ski poles, baseball bats, etc.).
  4. Explosive objects and weapons.
  5. Hazardous substances (acids, alkalis, flammable and toxic agents, gas cartridges).

Some of these items can only be carried in baggage, some are generally prohibited for transportation by air. The rules of some EU countries prohibit taking on board goods purchased in a duty-free zone outside the EU when transferring to a flight. Be sure to clarify this question so as not to lose money.

In contact with

Ignorance of the rules for carrying hand luggage and checked baggage can turn into an unpleasant situation at the control point: they will ask you to repack something, things that do not comply with the rules will be confiscated, and you will have to pay extra for the excess. Despite the fact that the requirements of airlines often differ, there are still general rules on what is absolutely impossible and what can be taken on a flight, and most importantly, how to do it correctly.

All belongings of an aircraft passenger are divided into two types - hand luggage, which he takes with him to the aircraft cabin, and checked baggage, which is checked into the luggage compartment of the vessel.

hand luggage

Before talking about what is allowed and what is not allowed to take with you on a flight, it is worth mentioning the number of seats and the standards for the weight and volume of hand luggage:

  • For economy class passengers: 1 piece of baggage weighing up to 10 kg and with a volume not exceeding 115 cm in the sum of three dimensions.
  • For business class passengers: 1 piece of baggage weighing up to 15 kg and not exceeding 115 cm3 in three dimensions.

There are also exceptions to the rules. For example, for Emirates, the maximum carry-on baggage allowance is 7 kg, and for British Airways, it is 23 kg.

According to the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization, in excess of the established norms, you can carry the following things that are not included in hand luggage:

  • handbag/men's briefcase
  • folder for papers
  • umbrella
  • cane
  • bouquet of flowers
  • outerwear
  • suit in a suitcase
  • mobile phone
  • prints for in-flight reading
  • laptop, camera, camcorder
  • crutches, folding walkers
  • baby cradle when transporting a child
  • baby food for the baby during the flight
  • bag with purchases from the Duty Free store

Liquids

Carrying liquids in hand luggage in the cabin is possible subject to the rules, as well as in the absence of additional security measures.

First of all, let's understand what is meant by the word "liquid". This concept includes most personal care products, such as shampoo, cream, lotion, deodorant, shaving foam, toothpaste, as well as perfumes.

The maximum volume of each liquid container must not exceed 100 ml. Keep in mind that if a 200 ml bottle is only half filled with liquid, it will still be required to be laid out: the volume indicated on the container is taken into account. All containers with liquid must be packed in a transparent sealed bag with a special fastener or zipper. Such a bag can be purchased in advance at a stationery store or at the airport. You can also use a transparent cosmetic bag. The total volume of all liquids must not exceed 1 liter per passenger.

Screening rules for liquids vary by airline, so don't be surprised if your jars and bottles are opened and checked for banned substances.

Gadgets and electrical appliances

Almost any digital equipment and oversized electronics are allowed to be carried in hand luggage in the aircraft cabin, including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, electric shavers, photographic equipment, electronic cigarettes, etc. Vape refill liquid can be carried in accordance with the rules for transporting liquids. Therefore, taking it with you on a plane or checking it in as luggage is up to you.

Food

It is allowed to bring food purchased after passing through customs control on board the aircraft in the so-called sterile zone. With regard to products purchased outside of it, then most likely you will be asked to post them even during the control. Not all countries in the world strictly adhere to this rule, but it is better not to risk it and pack food in your luggage.

Citizens with small children have the right to carry in hand luggage the baby food necessary for the child during the flight.

Medicines

Most common medications, such as cold or motion sickness medicines, are allowed as carry-on baggage in the cabin. Also, each passenger has the right to carry one mercury or electronic medical thermometer.

If the medicine is in the form of drops, spray or other liquid, then it must be transported according to the rules applicable to liquids - in a bottle with a face value of not more than 100 ml and not more than 1000 ml in total. If the medication you need for the duration of your flight exceeds this maximum, you will need to provide a doctor's prescription.

What should be the medical justification for airport employees?
This may be a prescription, an extract from the medical history or a certificate certified by the doctor's signature and the seal of the medical institution and confirming that these drugs are necessary for you. If you are traveling outside of Russia, the document must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

Always carefully read the ingredients of analgesics, sedatives, sleeping pills, cough medicines and heart medicines - they often contain narcotic substances. For example, among the components of painkillers such as Pentalgin and Nurofen Plus, codeine is present. And Corvalol and Valocordin, which are familiar to us, are completely prohibited for import into a number of countries of the world because of the phenobarbital contained in them.

When traveling in Russia, these drugs can be transported without overlays, but abroad you will be asked to provide a medical justification. It will also be required if you need to carry strong drugs with narcotic and psychotropic substances, hypodermic needles, gaseous oxygen or air cartridges, tablets or spray with nitroglycerin. In addition, all such medicines must be transported in their original packaging.

Employees of the control service also pay attention to the quantity: 5 or more packages of the same drug can pass for a small wholesale. If you need to bring several packs of the same name, be sure to take care of the medical justification.

Alcoholic products

Alcohol is subject to the same rules as all liquids. This means that you can only take souvenir mini-bottles with a face value of no more than 100 ml, no more than 1000 ml in the sum of all liquids, into the cabin of the aircraft. The exception is alcohol purchased at Duty Free, which will be discussed below.

Shopping from Duty Free

Products purchased from Duty Free shops must be packed in a special sealed bag. The package must have credible evidence that the purchase was made in a duty-free shop at the airport or on board the aircraft on the same day or days of the flight. Violating the integrity of the package during the flight is prohibited. The number of purchases purchased in Duty Free is not limited. The amount of alcohol transported is regulated by customs services. Up to 3 liters of alcohol with a strength of up to 70 degrees can be imported into the territory of the Russian Federation for free.

Note: Most airlines carry packages from Duty Free free of charge. However, there are exceptions. For example, Pobeda Airlines charges an additional fee for each package carried in hand luggage from a duty-free shop. The amount of the fee is 2000 rubles. (for flights from Russia) and €35 (for flights departing from abroad).

tobacco products

The number of cigarettes transported is limited by the customs legislation of the country of entry, so it does not matter where you carry them - in hand luggage or in luggage. Up to 200 cigarettes, or up to 50 cigars, or up to 250 grams of tobacco can be imported into Russia. In this case, the passenger must be of legal age.

The same rules will apply if you are flying from Russia to the EU. However, if you are traveling from one EU country to another, then the limit for imported tobacco products will increase by 4 times - provided that it was purchased in the EU.

Sharp and cutting objects

It is forbidden to take sharp and cutting objects in hand luggage into the aircraft cabin.

Such things include: knives of any type and any length (except plastic ones), edged weapons (sabers, swords, checkers, etc.), straight razors, any blades (except for razors and cartridges for them), cutters, forks, screwdrivers, metal scissors with sharp ends, skates, ski poles.

Sharp and cutting objects do not include: cigar scissors, poles, glasses repair devices, including special screwdrivers, knitting needles and sewing needles, cuticle sticks, nail files, nail clippers, tweezers, safety razors and plastic knives.

Other items that fall under the category of "dangerous"

All types of weapons, self-defense equipment, construction tools, as well as explosives, explosive devices, combustible substances, toxic chemicals, including items containing them, are prohibited for carriage in hand luggage.

Baggage

General checked baggage allowance:

  • For economy class passengers: 1 piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg and not exceeding 158 cm3 in three dimensions.
  • For business class passengers: 2 pieces of baggage weighing up to 32 kg each and not exceeding 158 cm3 in three dimensions.

Baggage rules are not as strict as in the case of hand luggage, however, here it is important to keep in mind a number of requirements for certain categories of items.

Alcohol

The rules for transporting alcohol on an airplane depend on where you are flying from and to: each country has its own rules for the import and export of alcohol and the age at which a person is considered an adult, and accordingly, has the right to purchase alcoholic beverages. Therefore, we will consider the most common situation, namely the import of alcohol into Russia.

In accordance with the rules of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, 1 passenger is entitled to carry up to 3 liters of alcohol with a strength of not more than 70% if he has reached the age of 18. In case of exceeding the specified volume (from 3 to 5 liters inclusive), the passenger must pay €10 extra for each liter. The container must be intended for retail trade, and its volume must not exceed 5 liters.

If you plan to import into Russia more than 5 liters of alcohol with a strength of no more than 70 degrees, then be prepared for additional expenses: alcohol must be declared, duty, excise and VAT must be paid. The purchase receipt must be kept.

Aerosols

Aerosol cosmetics, as well as personal hygiene products, are allowed in baggage if they are issued in containers of no more than 500 ml and their total weight / volume does not exceed 2 kg / 2 liters per passenger

Items that fall under the category "dangerous"

Matches, lighters, rocket launchers, gun fuses, gunpowder, explosives, explosive devices, combustible substances and toxic chemicals, including items containing them, are prohibited in baggage.

Note: do not put documents and their copies in luggage. It is also not recommended to take money, valuables, jewelry and papers, fragile items, keys into luggage. Of course, the probability of delay or even loss of luggage is small, but it is there. By taking all the most important things in your hand luggage in the cabin of the aircraft, you will save time and nerves in the event of a similar situation.

Exact baggage and carry-on requirements, as well as lists of prohibited items, depend on the requirements of the carrier, ticket class and flight route. When writing the article, we were based on the norms of the airlines most often used on our routes.

Question: “What can I take on a plane?”- is relevant for most travelers for whom air travel is not a weekly or even monthly procedure, but an event that is most often performed a couple of times a year - when flying to rest and back. Therefore, the list of things that can be taken on a plane is constantly forgotten and has to be studied again before the next flight. What kind of things should be taken into the cabin of the aircraft so that during the inspection at the airport nothing was confiscated from you, sent for an in-depth individual inspection and not forced to pay extra for excess baggage? All this is covered in this article.

By the way, shortly before the flight, it doesn’t hurt anyone to find out what exactly you can take on a plane, because the rules of air transportation change periodically and you can’t be sure that, due to their tightening, you can safely carry on board all those things with which you can easily flew a year or even a few months ago. Often on thematic sites you can find advice according to which the list of things allowed for transportation can be found on the ticket itself. However, due to the fact that more and more people know and do this, the advice is not entirely relevant, because when you issue an e-ticket at the airport, you only need a passport.

Features of transporting things on airplanes

During the implementation of passenger flights, all things carried by people can be in two places: in the cabin of the aircraft or in its luggage compartment. Things that are taken with you into the cabin are considered hand luggage. The same items that are handed over in a suitcase, backpack, bag or bag during the check-in process and are received by passengers only at the destination airport are considered baggage. It is hand luggage that is subject to the main number of restrictions, and it is this that is usually meant when they specify what can be taken on a plane, because things are much simpler with luggage.

Currently, most airlines classify the following items as hand luggage: outerwear, women's and men's handbags, backpacks (not exceeding the maximum allowed sizes) diplomats, umbrellas, canes, books and magazines, folders for papers, photo and video equipment, glasses with cases, laptops, tablets, e-readers, walking sticks, baby cots, wheelchairs, crutches, Duty Free items, and a small amount of groceries.

It is also allowed to transport in the form of hand luggage especially valuable, breakable and fragile items, the weight of which does not exceed 75 kilograms, and their dimensions do not exceed one additional passenger seat, for which the airline will charge a separate fee without fail. Such items that are allowed in the cabin of the aircraft also include large musical instruments, which also require the purchase of an additional plane ticket (if the instrument weighs more than 32 kg).

Here it should also be noted that each air passenger is allocated only one place for hand luggage, i.e. carry three backpacks on board or most likely it will not work. In addition, the size of hand luggage and its weight is usually set by the airline within certain limits. On average, these parameters are respectively 115 cm (the sum of the height, length and width of a bag, backpack or small suitcase) and 8-10 kg. The indicated figures may vary slightly depending on the airline you have chosen, and you can clarify them directly on its official website.

For example, for Etihad Airways, these figures are slightly less and amount to 111 cm and 7 kg. Here you need to understand that no one will especially measure your backpack with a ruler, so you should not worry about a couple of extra centimeters. But no one will allow you to be very impudent and drag a large suitcase on wheels into the cabin of the aircraft. Similarly with weight: I flew the same Etihad with a 7.5 kg backpack and there were no particular objections from the airline, although they still saw the weight of the backpack in the process of gluing the tag, when hand luggage was also put on the scales.

Perhaps I was just lucky that time, but knowing that overweight can be charged extra ($ 15-25 for each kg) makes me think that it's better not to risk it. Especially what can you take on a plane things with less weight and similar functionality. For example, instead of a thick hardcover book, download its electronic version to a smartphone or tablet. And yes, the indicated weight limits are for economy class passengers, and if you are flying in business class, then the total allowed weight of hand luggage is usually higher.

What can you take on a plane in hand luggage

With the fact that generally leads to hand luggage, figured it out. It remains to consider in more detail the list of individual items that can be carried in hand luggage. Here I would even replace the word “can” with the word “necessary”, and now I will explain why. No passenger can be sure what will happen to their luggage during the process of loading and unloading the aircraft. And even when choosing the most reputable airlines in the world, there is a risk of encountering a situation in which luggage will be lost - temporarily or (which is still less common) forever. Therefore, there is a whole list of valuable things and essentials that you can take on a plane and you need to do it anyway.

★ Documents. This primarily includes a passport, travel insurance, driver's license, airline tickets, travel vouchers (if you are flying on a package holiday), etc. I don’t think it’s worth explaining what problems you may encounter even at the airport of departure without having these documents in your hands.

★ Money. Here, too, everything is very clear. In addition to cash, travelers checks and bank cards can also be included in this category, which are also better to keep with you.

★ Jewelry. It will be better if items made of precious metals and stones, expensive wristwatches, as well as things that are not too expensive in terms of market price, but do not have a value as a memory for you personally, will also be in flight with you.

★ Electronic gadgets: smartphones, phones, tablets, laptops, cameras and camcorders, electronic readers, audio players. All these things are better preserved in the cabin than in luggage, when loading and unloading which loaders at all airports in the world do not stand on ceremony too much. In addition, most of these things will help pass the time of the flight and distract from the anxious thoughts of those who do not know

★ Keys to the house, apartment and car, if all this is taken with you. These things weigh a little, but losing them together with luggage can be a serious problem.

★ Medications that you cannot do without during the flight.

Features of carriage in hand luggage of certain categories of things

Although certain categories of items can be taken on a plane, there are some restrictions on their account, which it is important to know about in advance. First of all, it concerns the transportation of liquids in the aircraft cabin. Not knowing these requirements, travelers are often forced to throw expensive toilet waters, lotions and other hygiene products into the bin during inspection, and then purchase all this already abroad, spending additional money on it, which could be used more rationally on vacation.

I advise you to definitely read the article, which will also allow you to avoid unpleasant parting with your favorite things or some souvenirs that, unknowingly, were captured in hand luggage and which must be thrown into the trash and donated to a customs officer due to the ban on transportation in the cabin.

Rules for carrying liquids in hand luggage

The main requirement here is identical for most airlines in the world and is that what can you take on a plane only liquids, the total volume of which is not more than one liter, and the maximum size of individual containers is not more than 100 ml. Here you need to understand that all kinds of gels and pasty substances also belong to liquids. For example, aftershave lotion or gel, hand or aftershave cream, toothpaste, roll-on deodorant, face mask, shampoo and shower gel, contact lens fluid, antiseptic, etc.

Pay attention to the size of the containers, and not the amount of liquids contained there. Those. a bottle of liquid with a capacity of 200 ml is considered a violation, even if it contains only one quarter of the same liquid, i.e. about 50 ml. This restriction on the carriage of liquids does not apply to drinks, including spirits, purchased in Duty Free stores after passing through security. At the same time, it is better to keep such drinks in special branded packages of the same stores.

In addition to restrictions on the volume of liquids carried, they should be presented correctly for inspection. Even if you now know how to exercise, you should not put all the bottles in different pockets. In accordance with current air transport regulations, all vials should be placed in a small transparent bag or a regular cosmetic bag with transparent walls that do not interfere with inspection should be used for this. At the same time, one passenger is allowed to use only one such package (cosmetic bag).

Transportation of medicines in hand luggage

Medicines in liquid and syrup form are also subject to restrictions regarding the volume of vials (100 ml). Therefore, you should take in your hand luggage only those medicines that you cannot do without during the flight. With pills, the situation is simpler, but still, in order to avoid unnecessary questions, also do not take too many of them. If you are flying on an airplane exclusively with hand luggage (without luggage), it is better to take a prescription for potent drugs with you, which should confirm the need for this amount.

If you managed to get tickets that allow you to fly to Thailand cheaply, I advise you to read the article, especially the part that talks about medicines prohibited from being imported into the country. This will allow you to avoid troubles when going through control at the airport and you will know exactly what medicines you can take on a plane when going to this country and what not.

What can you take on a plane for comfort

During long flights, people often assume that they need a lot more things in the cabin than meets the eye. Therefore, in the process of forming hand luggage, you need to remember which of the things will contribute to your comfort when sitting on an airplane for a long time at a high altitude. Below is a sample list of things that many travelers make sure to take on a plane and do not regret it.

★ An inflatable pillow to avoid discomfort in the neck during a long flight. Personally, I no longer like inflatable pillows for transport, but with synthetic winterizer filler, but they take up a lot of space ...

★ Toothbrush and paste, especially on a long night flight. It is better to take the paste in a small tube: firstly, there is less space and less weight, and secondly, the same restriction of 100 ml.

★ Wet wipes: help to refresh the skin of the hands and face, as well as sanitize hands before eating. For the same purposes, a special liquid in the form of a spray is suitable, but again it must “fit” into the total volume of 1 liter.

★ Some of the warm clothes that will save you from the cold on board the aircraft (warm jacket, socks, a small blanket).

★ Devices for entertainment: tablet, electronic reader, player, smartphone. More and more airlines are using new aircraft with built-in multimedia systems for each passenger during long flights. However, there is no guarantee that this will definitely be, and besides, it is not a fact that you will like the selection of films, music and games, so your entertainment features will not interfere. And if there are USB chargers on board, then it’s generally fine.

★ Dry rations. You can read about what food can be carried on board the aircraft in a separate article (link above). Immediately, I will only note the fact that on board the aircraft you often want to eat and drink something between regular meals, which for many is not enough. And if there are no problems with drinks (at least when flying on regular flights), then the situation with food is worse. Therefore, you can always take something satisfying on the plane, not very crumbling and not annoying your seat neighbors. For example, marshmallows or chocolate bars.

In order not to take unnecessary things from home, I advise you to check on the airline's website or on travel forums which of the things described above are already on board and taking them on a plane is superfluous. For example, on Etihad airlines, each passenger receives a comfortable pillow, blanket. Everyone also gets a small bag containing earplugs, an eye patch, socks (very short), a tiny tube of toothpaste and an equally small hard toothbrush. It seems to be the same with Turkish Airlines.

Now you know what you can take on a plane and have a clearer idea of what you might need during the flight. Finally, I advise you to definitely remember how your one-way flight went, what you missed on board and what was superfluous. I wish you pleasant flights and soft landings!

Perhaps not everyone knows about this, but you can take food on board the aircraft, and not only that which was bought in Duty Free before landing.

Knowledgeable tourists take with them not only chocolates and cookies, but also sandwiches and other homemade preparations. There are only restrictions on drinks, but flight attendants carry them anyway, unless you fly on low-cost airlines, where you have to pay for tea or juice.

It is advisable to take protein-rich foods with you: chicken, beef, cheese, nuts. Choose products that do not have a strong smell, which will not crumble much and will not deteriorate during several hours of flying and waiting at the airport. For a snack, a mixture of nuts and dried fruits, sandwiches or a salad in a container are perfect.

Avoid strong-smelling and gas-forming foods (onions, garlic, fish, beans, broccoli, eggs) and fatty foods. You can ruin your stay on the plane not only for yourself, but also for numerous neighbors.

Keep in mind that liquids, including creams and gels, are prohibited for carriage.

Except when they comply with the regulations:

  • The volume of containers should not exceed 100 ml.
  • All containers should be stored in one resealable transparent plastic container. The total capacity should not exceed 1 liter.
  • Each passenger is entitled to carry only one such package.
  • Packaging with containers containing liquids must be presented separately at the security control desk.

What of the products refers to liquids and gels? The list is not very large, it includes: yogurt, sauces (for example, for salad), cottage cheese, peanut butter, jam, jam, jelly, soup, pate.

Over 100 ml you can take children food, provided that a child under 2 years old is flying with you and this food is only for the duration of the flight.

In your checked baggage, you can carry any amount of liquid. Restrictions are only on the amount of alcohol.

Can I take caviar in hand luggage?

Yes, you can take caviar in glass or tin factory packaging. On domestic flights in Russia, they may also let you in with plastic containers (if you bought caviar by weight). But pay attention to the volume, it should not exceed 100 ml, because. caviar is considered liquid.

On domestic flights, they are more loyal to the volume cans of caviar, and sometimes containers with a volume of more than 100 ml are skipped. But if you are flying with luggage, then it is better to hand over the caviar.

A little more difficult with overseas flights. Here it is necessary to take into account not only restrictions on the liquid, but also customs rules.

According to Russian legislation, it is allowed to export from the Russian Federation no more than 250 grams of sturgeon caviar(black caviar - beluga, sturgeon and stellate sturgeon). Before leaving, be sure to familiarize yourself with the customs regulations of the country where you are going. For example, the EU countries and the US are allowed to import no more than 125 grams of sturgeon caviar per passenger.

Red caviar is salmon caviar, you can take it out up to 5 kg. Please note that the standard factory packaging of red caviar is 140 gr, which is more than the allowed 100 ml for hand luggage. That's why Always put caviar in your luggage.

What exactly can be taken from the products in hand luggage?

  • cookies, chips, dryers, gingerbread, crackers, waffles, etc.
  • bakery products
  • sweets, chocolate bars and chocolates
  • fruits and vegetables - in the amount necessary for a snack on board. It is not always possible to carry a couple of kilos of tomatoes on an international flight.
  • sandwiches and sandwiches

Products subject to the 100 ml limit:

  • drinking yogurt
  • Baby food (mashed potatoes and pates) if you are flying without a child. If you have a child under 2 years old with you, then you can take more than allowed, but on condition that this is the food that the child will need during the flight, and not with a supply for the entire period of rest.
  • Alcohol. It's even more difficult for him. More and more airlines are introducing “prohibition”. those. a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol on board the aircraft. Only alcohol purchased from a Dute Free shop and unopened is allowed. The rules for drinking alcohol should be checked with a particular airline.
  • Soft cheese, it includes - brie, camembert, mozzarella, ricotta, feta, etc.
  • Canned food. Even if 99% of the content is solid. The security service will focus only on the volume of the jar, it should be up to 100 ml, if more, then check it in your luggage.
  • Jam and homemade seamings.

All products must be carefully packed in transparent bags or containers so that security personnel can see what is inside.

And one more piece of advice, before you lay out the food you brought with you on the table, cover it with a napkin. You don't know who was sitting here before you and how long ago it was cleaned.

Many of us fly planes on vacation, a business trip to get a job, and so on. If they do not fly for a long time, problems with food do not arise.

And if the flight is long and even with not one but several transfers? And if you fly low-cost airlines, where you have to pay for tea or juice. Moreover, if you wait for a plane for several hours during a transfer, and in the airport buffets, mind-blowing prices.

Then the question arises: - "Can I take food on the plane?"

I think this question is of interest not only to me, but also to others.

What food to take on a plane

Food on planes often leaves much to be desired. Heartburn-inducing chicken pasta and an insanely sweet chocolate waffle for dessert are unlikely to whet your appetite, and you can only eat this when you are very hungry. Meanwhile, it will not be difficult to pack a bag of tasty and healthy food with you on the road, the main thing is to have a clear plan. And then you can not think about whether food is included in the cost of the flight, and not worry about its quality. The same stock can save on long flights, when a significant time passes between two meals. So, what can you use with pleasure and comfort during the flight.

Fruit
Fruits are perfect both as a dessert and as a way to quench your thirst. The main thing - do not take with you those that need to be cleaned. Dirty hands, splashes on clothes, and an extra load of skins are not what you need. It is best to bring seedless grapes or any other berries, as well as apples. All this must first be washed, dried and it is best to put it not in a bag, but in a plastic container with a lid.

Mix of nuts and dried fruits
Of course, there are ready-made mixes in stores, but usually they will contain something that you don’t like at all and end up in the bottom of the jar, so it’s better to make dry rations from what you love. For example: mix a glass of roasted seeds without husks, a glass of dried apricots or prunes, half a glass of nuts (almonds or hazelnuts) and a couple of handfuls of dried cherries. All this, again, is more convenient to place in a plastic container, since plastic bags tend to open, tear and crumble at the most inopportune moment. And yes, they are awkward to put on the table.

small carrots
This tasty and easy-to-transport root crop is often forgotten, and in vain. Firstly, they are very good to crunch during takeoff or landing, because. it does a great job of keeping the ears out. Secondly, carrots satisfies the desire to constantly chew something out of boredom, without harm to the figure. And, finally, if you take some sauce with you, you can perfectly dip the root crop into it and get almost a restaurant snack. The main thing is to wash the carrots in advance. By the way, in the season, carrots will be a good substitute for small cucumbers, the main thing is to find tasty and fresh ones.

Sauces
Not necessarily, but people who are used to eating sauces, take one or two sauces with you. These can be small boxes from McDonald's. But remember that the carriage of liquid substances on the plane is limited.

crackers
Crackers, breadsticks or FinnCrisp brought from home are great snacks. The main thing is to choose a not very crumbling option.

Muesli bars
If there is no time to collect food on the road at all, take a variety of muesli and dried fruit bars with you. There are a great many types of such bars for sale, and you can buy them not only in the supermarket, but also in almost any pharmacy.

inedible items
Of course, you should definitely take wet and dry wipes with you, which will definitely find a use. If there are shops in the sterile area, you can also take an empty camping water bottle with you and fill it with your own mix, the ingredients for which can be purchased after the security check.

Tips

And many more on the plane really want to drink, but you can’t take a lot of liquids, you can take liquid with you in your luggage. But you can take juicy fruits and an empty bottle.
And fly with a bottle, which is already filled at the airport, after all the checks. You can ask the stewards for water. Dehydration is terrible, so the more you drink, the better.
You can take apples and bananas.

Tip - take dried fruits, nuts (preferably not peanuts, so that your neighbor does not start Quincke's edema: () Take sandwiches that are individually packaged, with chicken, ordinary, not smelly cheese. All sorts of bars.

And don't forget to bring an empty trash bag!
