Avril Lavigne's ex-husband Derick Whibley got married after a long treatment. Derick Whibley: biography, personal life, illness Endorser of a famous company

  1. It's funny, right from the start, when we were 15, we were always talking about live performances. We always hated the studio, we didn't like to write, we didn't like anything at all, but we knew we had to do it to get on stage.
  2. Green Day had a much bigger impact on me than Blink 182.
  3. As a child, I often fought. We moved all the time, and about once every two months I moved to a new school. And since I was the smallest in the class, I had plenty of reasons to fight. But at the same time I was the best fighter!
  4. You don't even have to leave your home: you work from home, you can order everything you can to your home without getting up from your chair. Everything around is designed so that you never get up from your computer chair.
  5. (after divorce from Avril Lavigne) The last six and a half years have been the most amazing of my life. It's sad that it's over, but Avril and I are still a family and we try to move forward in the most positive way possible. We decided to part amicably. Avril holds a special place in my heart and will forever remain there as a wonderful friend.
  6. I hate McDonald's, but sometimes I have to eat there.
  7. September 11 really opened our eyes - we were only 20 years old then, we didn't care about anything at all. We were too young to care. But as you grow older, you lose any excuse for your own stupidity and ignorance. That day just opened our eyes to something obviously wrong, and we finally began to think about it and about what is happening in the world.
  8. We don't want to be a three-chord punk band, we don't even call ourselves punks.
  9. All I do is just wake up in the morning, and everything else goes on as usual. It is very easy.
  10. What could be better than sex? When you want to pee, you hold back for a very long time and finally reach the desired moment. Here it is. Here is one of my favorite feelings.
  11. My soul is wide open: if you sing, willy-nilly you have to be like that.
  12. I don't regret anything. I made a lot of mistakes, did a lot of things that should not have been done, but I have no regrets about this.
  13. My audio collection would surprise many. For example, I really love Frank Sinatra, but no one believes that I listen to him.
  14. I love honest people, and only such try to surround myself.
  15. I hate scams and those who try to cheat.
  16. The music that is guaranteed to put me in a good mood is The Rolling Stones' Exile On Main Street.
  17. I don’t know how good I am as a musician to be remembered exactly as a musician… But I was and still am, and people should know that I enjoy it!
  18. My main vice is a craving for fun. I can't deal with boredom.
  19. I had very serious back problems after a few years ago, in a bar in Japan, idiots jumped on it and decided to give me the first number. I did not even notice how these three based me.
  20. I hate, always hated writing lyrics. Although now, when I have matured and gained experience, it turns out easier, but at the very beginning it was given to me with great difficulty, and I always wrote the words to the songs at the very last turn.

Avril Lavigne's ex-husband - Sum 41 lead singer Derick Whibley - married his girlfriend Ariana Cooper. This joyful event happened a year after the musician was in a coma due to alcoholism. But first things first.

The wedding of Whibley and Cooper took place at the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles in the presence of 100 guests. Despite the classic concept of the holiday, there were some rocker notes close to Derik. For example, along with a chic bustier dress, the bride put on Converse sneakers, the cake was "painted" in black and white, but Sum 41 songs were not played in the hall.

The ceremony was very intimate and family. At their wedding, the violinists played classical music, which is fundamentally different from the rock that Derik's band performs. He was amazing

A source told People magazine. The main drink of the wedding was apple cider, since Whibley is strictly forbidden to "get involved" with alcohol. In 2014, he fell into a coma due to problems with the liver and kidneys caused by prolonged alcoholism:

I drank heavily every day. Until that fateful night. I sat at home and poured myself another drink, I wanted to watch a movie. Then I suddenly became ill, I fell and could not get up. My girlfriend called an ambulance, I was placed in the intensive care unit. When I woke up, the doctors said that if I touched alcohol again, I would die.

(b. March 21, 1980) is a Canadian musician, producer and songwriter, best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the band sum 41.

Derick had been in several bands before he met Steve Jos in high school, who at the time was in a band called the Doors of Draven with Dave Baksh. The name of Derick's first band was The Powerful Young Hustlerz. The guys played in the style of Hip Hop, and also did cover versions of Beastie Boys songs. Derik and Steve became good friends and decided to create a band called Kaspir. The band consisted of Whibley (vocals), Joz (drums), Mark Spicolack (bass), Dave Baksh and Mark Costanzo on guitars. Soon Spikolak left the band and Derik started playing bass guitar. They changed the band's name from Kaspir to Sum 41 for a show looking for new stars. In 1999, after seeing many candidates, the band recruited Cone McCaslin to play bass. Later, Cone publicly stated more than once that the new name appeared in the group along with his arrival. Among the first songs they wrote were "I Like Meat", "Astronaut", and "5-0 Grind". The All Killer No Filler album has the song "Pain For Pleasure" in which Steve sings and Derik sits on the drums.

Since signing to Island Records in 1999, the band has released five studio albums, three live albums, two live DVDs and over 15 singles. The total album sales amounted to more than 10 million copies. To date, the band's most successful album is All Killer No Filler, which went triple platinum in Canada and platinum in the United States. One of the singles from this album, "Fat Lip", topped the Billboard Modern Rock chart. On the same chart, the single "In Too Deep" peaked at number 10.

Sum 41 are known for their lengthy tours, often lasting over a year and including over 300 shows. The band has been nominated six times for Canada's top Juno Awards and won the 2003 Band of the Year and 2005 Rock Album of the Year awards for Chuck. The song "Blood In My Eyes" from Screaming Bloody Murder was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance".

In addition to Sum 41, Whibley began his professional career in music as a producer and manager. Derik was a producer for Bunk Rock Music. With Bunk Rock, he produced several Treble Charger's albums. He also performed some of the vocals on their Detox album. In addition, Derik produced No Warning. In 2005, he sold part of the company to Greg Nori.

During a brief hiatus from Sum 41 in 2005 and 2006, he worked with Tommy Lee on guitar and backing vocals for his album, Tommyland: The Ride, and A Million in Prizes: The Anthology with Iggy Pop.

Whibley is currently producing the first album with Cone's band side The Operation M.D. and produced the album Underclass Hero Sum 41. In 2007, he took part in the recording of the band's debut album Permanent Me. He was also involved in the recording of Avril Lavigne's new album, The Best Damn Thing, where he produced and played guitar and bass.

In addition to his musical career, Derik managed to act in films Dirty Love and King Of The Hill.

In November 2007, while on tour with Finger Eleven, Whibley suffered a spinal injury. The tour has been cancelled.

In 2008, Derick went on tour with his wife Avril Lavigne dedicated to her new album The Best Damn Thing, at concerts they performed the Sum 41 song "In Too Deep" together. On youtube.com you can find many fan recordings of this song from concerts.

In the spring of 2007, Fender released the Deryck Whibley Telecaster signature guitar. The guitar was released under the budget Squier brand, the Artist series.

Derick's signature model is based on the 1972 Telecaster Deluxe model, which differs from the regular Telecaster in the shape of the pickguard, as well as a large feather in the style of another Fender model, the Stratocaster. The signature guitar, unlike the regular Telecaster Deluxe, is equipped with the only Korean-made "Duncan Designed" bridge humbucker with the only mode of operation - Full Humbucker. The bridge is fixed, the strings are passed through the body. The guitar features a 3-ply plastic pickguard, Agatis body, C-Shape maple neck with 21 Medium Jumbo frets.

The model is available in two colors - Olympic White (white) and Black (black). The pickguard will be black in any case. As a special feature of this guitar, red "crosses" on the body can be noted.

In general, the specifications of this guitar are very close to another signature Squier - the Avril Lavigne Telecaster model.

In January 2004, Derick began dating Canadian pop-punk singer Avril Lavigne. Shortly before the end of Avril Lavigne's European tour, she and Deric left for Venice, where they got engaged. The wedding took place on July 15, 2006 in the California coastal town of Montecito, about 87 miles (140 km) northwest of Los Angeles. Lavigne was wearing a Vera Wang dress and Derick was wearing a Hugo Boss suit. Steve Jos was his best man. Avril's younger sister, Michelle Lavigne, was one of the bridesmaids. The wedding was attended by approximately 110 guests. The couple danced their first dance to the song "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. Derik and Avril lived in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California.

In September 2009, the couple announced their impending divorce. In November of the same year, Avril and Derik divorced.

For a while, Derik dated an English model named Hannah Beth. Derick has been dating Ariana Cooper since 2013. In August 2015, they secretly got married.

  1. In the world of music, Derik is better known as Bizzy Dee (Bizzy D): this nickname was given to him during his school years, but the reason for such a name remains a mystery.

  2. Whibley began his musical career in the 90s under the influence of the famous grunge band Nirvana, but Derik preferred punk.

  3. Derik's musical work was influenced by Elvis Costello, The Beatles and Southern California punk bands. However, the sound of Sum 41 also clearly shows the influence of the Beastie Boys, Iron Maiden, The Offspring, Metallica and Oasis. The latter, in turn, have always said that they hate Sum 41.

  4. The history of Sum 41 began with the band Kaspir, where Derik was the vocalist; after a series of transformations, the group changed its line-up and was renamed Sum 41.

  5. Derik was also seen in the acting field: he played in the films Dirty Love (the role of Tony) and King of the Hill.

  6. Deryck Whibley collaborated with Fender, which released the Deryck Whibley Telecaster in 2007. The musical instrument was designed in two colors - black and white. Red "crosses" on the body can be noted as a distinctive feature of this guitar.

  7. Derick Whibley is also known for his production work. In particular, he is the producer of the albums We Have an Emergency (The Operation M.D.), Underclass Hero (Sum 41), The Best Damn Thing (Avril Lavigne).

  8. Outside of his work at Sum 41, Derik has been involved in other musical projects. For example, he collaborated with Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) on guitar and backing vocals on his album Tommyland: The Ride and with Iggy Pop on his album A Million in Prizes: The Anthology.

  9. In 2004, Derik began dating Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. Two years later, their wedding took place, but already in 2009 the couple divorced. Whibley is currently married to Ariana Cooper.
