The history of the film "The Dawns Here Are Quiet..." (22 photos). The Dawns Here Are Quiet (story) Main character The Dawns Here Are Quiet

And the dawns here are quiet. A story that brought real fame to its author, Boris Lvovich Vasiliev. Written in 1969, it was almost immediately published in the Youth magazine. A year later, the work was transferred to the stage of the theater. In 1970, the story "The Dawns Here Are Quiet..." was filmed. In this story, the author unfolds before the reader a story about a military operation that began in one of the Russian forests. Having gone to work, the fighters, led by a foreman, discover that the Germans outnumber them.

The detachment is left without reinforcements, they are doomed to death: someone succumbs to fear, someone courageously defends their native land. But the fact is that all the fighters, except for the foreman, are women. Losing each of his "soldiers", one after another, the protagonist of the story, the foreman, bitterly thinks about the unnaturalness of what is happening. Women who die at the hands of the enemy should be in a completely different place, in the family, give birth and raise children. This idea, which is repeated in the work as a reprise, is the main idea of the author.

Boris Vasiliev raises the themes of cowardice, heroism, duty, but also asks the problem of "woman and war". And this problem leads the reader to an even greater problem, because the woman in this work is synonymous with life, the successor of the family.

“And the dawns here are quiet…” summary

Replenishment

It was hot May 1942. At the 171st railway siding, the foreman Fedot Vaskov was in charge. Vaskov at the age of 32, he is lonely, as his wife ran away with her lover, and his little son died. The fighters were constantly replaced, because the place was calm, the soldiers drank moonshine and walked with local women. Fedot Evgrafych demands that non-drinkers and “non-walkers” be sent to him - in response, the authorities send a detachment of young anti-aircraft gunners.

Sergeant Major Vaskov does not know how to behave with young women, they respond to any remark with a giggle, “on all fronts” they dry clothes, or even lie down to sunbathe in what their mother gave birth to. Home in the first section of the platoon Margarita Osyanina. She was the first to marry from the class, and remained a widow on the second day of the war. Rita left a small son, Albert, whom she sent to her parents in the village two months before the war.

The death of her husband made her somehow special among the other girls, she remained the most severe among them. When Zhenya Komelkova appears among the girls, Rita's feature disappears. A year before Zhenya was here, the Germans shot her entire family. She saw it with her own eyes, from the house opposite, where her Estonian neighbor hid her. Despite the great loss, Zhenya laughs and smiles, she is very beautiful, slim, with long hair. Zhenya and Rita become friends.

Squad advances

After a while, it becomes clear that it was not in vain that Rita asked to transfer her platoon here. Every three days, Osyanina voluntarily runs away somewhere after dinner and returns at dawn. On one of these trips, in the morning, Rita sees two Germans walking into the forest. She wakes Vaskov, he informs his superiors and decides to advance in order to hunt down the enemy: kill one of the Germans, take one prisoner for questioning. He takes with him: Zhenya, Rita, Lisa Brichkina, Sonya Gurvich and Galya Chetvertak.

The detachment advances, goes along a short path. Vaskov correctly guesses that the Germans will take a long path, and he himself leads the girls along a short road, through a swamp, to Lake Vop. Settled in ambush, the foreman and the girls are finally waiting for the Germans. But when the Germans come ashore, Fedot Vaskov must solve a big problem in his head: not two, but sixteen Germans came ashore.

We are waiting for reinforcements

Lisa Brichkina is sent back to the village to inform her superiors that reinforcements are urgently needed. Lisa, the forester's daughter, runs, thinking about her past life, which was spent caring for her sick mother, and about her feelings for foreman Vaskov. She misses the right place, stumbles and dies in the swamp. At this time, the foreman and the rest of the girls do not yet know about it. They have to play for time: pretending to be lumberjacks, they burn fires, cut down trees.

When the fighters moved on, Vaskov discovers that he forgot his tobacco pouch. Cheerful Sonya decides to return for him, especially since they have already passed this path twice. To her misfortune, Sonya meets the Germans, who kill her. The foreman and Zhenya track down two Germans and avenge Sonya. Soon they fire at the enemy detachment, but only one is wounded.

During the shelling, Galya a quarter, a former student of a library technical school, who ended up at the front because of romantic ideas, succumbs to fear. She is horrified by Sonya's death, but Vaskov does not see this. He takes her with him, puts her in an ambush, and when the right moment comes to shoot the enemy, Galya gives herself away, the Germans kill her. The foreman leads the Germans behind him to save the survivors Zhenya and Rita. Vaskov is wounded in the hand. He finds a hut, an enemy camp, kills another German. On his way, near the swamp, he notices Brichkina's skirt and realizes that the girl is bogged down in the swamp, there will be no help.

Last Stand

The surviving Zhenya and Rita meet Fedot on the shore as sisters and brothers. They hug, cry, the foreman tells the girls about Lisa's death and that the last battle awaits them, you can't let the enemy near the railroad. The girls are ready for it. In an unequal battle, the Germans first wound Rita, and while Vaskov hides her, Zhenya dies. Rita understands that she will not survive and confesses to Vaskov where she ran at night: not far from the junction, her mother lives in the city, with Rita's little son. The woman asks Fedot to take care of the baby. Not wanting to die in agony, Rita shoots herself in the temple.

Vaskov, left alone, first buries Rita and Zhenya. And then he goes to the hut, the parking lot of the Germans. He kills one German, and the other four surrender. The enemy simply could not imagine that the foreman was alone. And the foreman himself, tying the last German, bitterly promised to kill everyone, for the five girls they killed. The story ends with a life-affirming epilogue. Many years pass. Old Fedot Evgrafych and Albert Fedotovich bring a marble slab to Rita's grave.

The first publication of the story took place in the August issue of the magazine "Youth" for the year.

According to the author, the story is based on a real episode of the war, when seven soldiers who, after being wounded, served at one of the junction stations of the Kirov railway, did not allow a German sabotage group to blow up the railway in this section. Only the sergeant survived, the commander of a group of Soviet soldiers, who after the war was awarded the medal "For Military Merit" . “And I thought: this is it! A situation when a person himself, without any order, decides: I won’t let him in! They have nothing to do here! I started working with this plot, I have already written seven pages. And suddenly I realized that nothing would come of it. It will just be a special case in the war. There was nothing fundamentally new in this story. Work is up. And then it suddenly came up - let my hero have not men, but young girls as subordinates. And that's it - the story immediately lined up. Women have the hardest time in war. There were 300 thousand of them at the front! And then no one wrote about them.

    Plot

Fedot Vaskov - commandant of the 171st junction in the Karelian wilderness. The crews of the anti-aircraft installations of the siding, getting into a quiet environment, begin to toil from idleness and get drunk. In response to Vaskov's requests to "send non-drinkers", the command sends two squads of anti-aircraft gunners there. One of them notices two German saboteurs in the forest. Vaskov realizes that they are planning to infiltrate the forests to strategic facilities and decides to intercept them. He collects a group of five anti-aircraft gunners and, in order to get ahead of the saboteurs, leads a detachment to the road known to him alone through the swamps to the rocks of the Sinyukhin ridge. However, it turns out that the enemy squad has 16 people. Vaskov understands that this force cannot be stopped head-on, and, having sent one of the girls for help - Liza Brichkina, who is secretly in love with him, who dies drowning in a swamp, decides to pursue the enemy. Using various tricks, he enters into a series of unequal clashes, in which the four girls who remained with him die - the perky beauty Zhenya Komelkova, the intelligent Sonya Gurvich, the orphanage Galya Chetvertak and the serious Rita Osyanina. He still manages to capture the surviving saboteurs prisoner, he leads them to the Soviet positions and meets his own on the way.

Osyanina, command who will go. Zhenya! - Jackdaw! - Wait, Osyanina. We are going to catch the Germans, not fish. And they have automatics. -At least they knew how to shoot. - They know how. Can I go? Did you want to swear? Swear, I'm already used to this. - Killed? - Not. Well, fighter Gurvich, grunt three times. -Why is that? -To check combat readiness. Zabila, how did you teach? What happened? If anything had happened, the archangels would have met you in the next world. It melted like a heifer, and the tail was a pipe. - Tired? - What else! Well, good. Nothing, it's all right. - The dew has been knocked down from the bushes. - Oh, eye! Well done, fighter Brichkin. And there were also two footprints from the boots of the Fritz, paratroopers. Judging by the socks, they keep around the swamp. And they run well at night, for about 40 versts. And we'll take it straight. How is that? Yes, not here. I know the path. And now 10 minutes to smoke, recover. Don't rehash! Disperse! Don't run far! Deep there? In some places... In general... this is the same thing. You will be waist-deep. Take care of your weapons. Behind me! Don't step aside! Infection! - Komelkova, do not stand! - I'm coming! Come on, come on... Quarter, stay away! Osyanina, choose yourself! Go Galka. - Comrade foreman! - What do you want? Don't stand! Suck! The boot has come off! - Did you find it? - Not! - Where? Stand! -I'll help! Stand! There is no way back! Brichkina, stretch it out to her! Get out, Komelkova! Follow me, go ahead! And what about boots? Can you find it now? Come on, Komelkova, a little more! Hold on tight, Jenny! Calm down, calm down. The island is close at hand. Need to go. Forward! Follow me, follow me! Tired? Come on. Are there leeches here? There is no one here. Dead place, dead. Don't be afraid, marsh gas comes out. The old people are singing, in such places the leshak lives. - Who? - Goblin. Tales, of course. Dal again! Just don't rush. Calm down, let's rest here. Okay... Are you tired? - Were tired. - Get some rest. Clutzer ti, Jackdaw! I had to bend my fingers. I was dying. It's okay, we'll figure it out for her. Clear! - Just beyond the swamp. Will you bear it? - I'll be patient. After a bath, it's good, huh? I'm soaking wet... In general, you will be waist-deep. I didn't wear underwear in vain. Ren. Get up! Take it apart and follow me in the same order. We will dry, warm ourselves there, on that bank. Zhenya, do you have a mirror? Zhen, comb me. You are so beautiful. Come on yourself! - Zhenya, stop rinsing! - I'm going now. Are you all ready? Go, you can. Well, comrades of the Red Army, is everything in order? All right, comrade foreman. - Aren't you cold? - Still no one to warm up. - Now steam will come out of you. - Why is this? Put on your shoes! What the heck! -Is it okay? - Highly. Better than boots. On the road, comrade soldiers. We have another hour and a half to jam our legs. March behind me! Live! Have fun! - Well, how, Komelkova, warmed up? - The couple is not visible yet! Here the Sinyukhin ridge begins. On the other hand, the second lake is running out of this ridge. Legontovo is called. A monk lived here, nicknamed Legont. I was looking for silence. Silence is enough here. The Germans have only one way: between these lakes, across the ridge. And the eternal battle, We only dream of peace. Through the blood and the dust The steppe mare flies, flies And the kovil crumples ... Comrades fighters! The enemy, with a force of up to two Fritz, is moving to the Vop-lake area with the aim of secretly penetrating the Kirov railway and the White Sea-Baltic Canal named after Comrade Stalin. I decided to meet the enemy in the main position and offer him to surrender. In case of resistance, kill one, and still take the second alive. - Everything is clear. - Lie down in positions like mice. - I'll talk to them first. - In German? In Russian! And you will translate if they do not understand. Do I speak clearly? If you hang out like that in battle, then there is no medical battalion nearby, and mother too! It is good to fight with the German from a distance. While you distort your carbines, he will make a sieve out of you. Therefore, I order to lie down. Lie while in person<огонь!> I don't command. Ato will not look that the feminine. And do not sleep, keep watching! - Germans? - Where? Fu ti, goblin ... It seemed. Take a nap, Fedot Evgrafich. Well, ti, Osyanina. It's like that, it pissed me off. I will have an eternal dream, if the Fritz missed it. They shoot someone from the authorities or blow up something important, go then, prove to the tribunal why I, instead of combing the forest and nailing the Fritz, the devil, where did you go. Did you feel sorry for the people? I was afraid to throw you into an open battle - this is not an excuse. No, not an excuse if the combat order is not executed. Or are they sleeping now? - They sleep... -They are people. You said the ridge was the only convenient approach to the railroad. -Ado it to them ... - Half a hundred miles. Yes, in an unfamiliar area, but afraid of every bush. Margarita ... how about the father? Just call Rita. Can? Dear defender of Rodinya. Gift. - Light up, comrade Rita. -I do not smoke. But about the fact that they are also people, I somehow didn’t think of it. Correctly suggested. - Come on, dyeing? - Yours! Mermaid. And you can't even brush it. Get well. Comrade foreman, may I ask? Contact. Comrade foreman, do you have a wife? I am married, a fighter of Komelkov. Where is your wife? It is known where, at home. Have children? Children? There was a little boy. How was it? Yes, my mother did not save me. How so? The wife left us. Rit, tell him everything. I'll tell you when we get back. You can immediately see that there was a man, a fighter of Brichkin. Sensibly settled down and quacking well. - Didn't notice anything? - Quiet for now. Take note of everything, Lizaveta. The bushes don't stir, the birds don't rustle. You are a forest man, you understand everything. Well, how! As if there is no war. Liza, Liza, Lizaveta, Why don't you send me your regards? Well, don't you, drolya, don't you eat, Al your drolya is not good-looking? There was such a joke in our area. And you here, comrade foreman? Served here for a long time. They sing for us... Then we'll sing with you, Lizaveta. Let's execute the combat order and sing. - Honestly? - He did say. Look, comrade foreman, they promised! Born in deaf years The paths do not remember their own. Mi - the children of the terrible years of Russia - Nothing can score. Sizzling God! Is there madness in you, hope or news? From the days of war, from the days of freedom There is a bloody reflection in the faces... There is a bloody reflection in the faces. To whom are you reading? - To whom, I ask, do you read? - Nobody. Yourself. Why in a voice? So, poetry. You ruin your eyes. Light, comrade foreman. Yes, this is me, in general. Don't sit on the rocks. They will cool down, they will begin to draw warmth from you. Put on your overcoat. Okay, comrade foreman, thank you. Don't read out loud though. By evening, the air is gray here, dense, and the dawns here are quiet. And that's why it's too much for five miles. Sony forever. Misha. Why are you shrinking? Cold. Don't tear yourself up. You have a fever, comrade soldier. Here it is, a swamp, here it is, a boot. So will you take it or dilute it? - What is it? - Potion. - Potion... Alcohol! - Alcohol. I won't! Drink without speaking. I order, drink. Drink! Oh mommy! Don't breathe! Those who survive the war will have mothers. Oops, the head ran! Nothing, you'll catch up tomorrow. - How can you be without an overcoat? - Don't worry, I'm healthy. Get well only by tomorrow. I beg you, get well. I will try. Those who survive the war will have mothers. What, Germans? - Lie down, everyone is ordered to sleep. - Well, Galka? -Where is Rita? - I stayed with Vaskov. What? Are you listening? The birds are screaming. Magpies! White-sided magpies rustle. So, someone is coming, disturbing them. Croy, Osyanina, raise the fighters. Instantly! Gurvich to me. But to hide it! No no! Hello, comrade foreman. Great. How's Thursday? Asleep, did not wake up. Correctly decided. You will be there to connect. Just don't show up. I don't show up. Here they are! See? Here they are. Both! Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Nine. Ten. Eleven. Twelve. Twelve. Thirteen. Fourteen. Fifteen. Fifteen. Sixteen. Cuckoo, cuckoo, how long will I live? Once. Two. Three...

    History of creation

Filming on location took place in the village of Syargilakhta in the Pryazhinsky district of Karelia, in the area of Ruskeala waterfalls and in the Mosfilm pavilions in 1972.

Students of Petrozavodsk State University took an active part in the shooting of the film.

The song of the tourist was performed by Vladimir Ivashov.

    Plot

The main events of the film take place in 1942 during the Great Patriotic War, in Karelia.

They set up an ambush, but not two, but sixteen saboteurs come out of the forest. Vaskov's detachment enters into an unequal battle with the Germans. Reinforcements do not come - Lisa, whom Vaskov sent to his own, is drowning in a swamp. The girls are dying one after another, even though the foreman tries to protect them as much as possible. Only one foreman remains alive. Wounded and almost unarmed, he captures the remaining saboteurs, led by the commander. As he escorts them to the rear, he is overtaken by Soviet soldiers led by "Comrade Third" and Kiryanova. After demobilization, Vaskov adopts the son of Rita Osyanina.

Thirty years later, Vaskov and his adopted son erect a memorial plaque in the area where Zhenya Komelkova, Rita Osyanina, Liza Brichkina, Gali Chetvertak and Sonya Gurvich died.

    Differences from the book

The film is shot very close to the text of the book, and the differences can be found in minor details:

    • Many of the remarks of foreman Vaskov in the book were his thoughts.
    • In the book, Rita Osyanina knocked out an observation balloon from an anti-aircraft machine gun, and even at the front. In the film, she shot down a German reconnaissance plane - already at the junction. In addition, in the book, during the battle with the Messerschmitts, which also took place at the front, in addition to two wounded, there was one killed anti-aircraft gunner - "a carrier, a snub-nosed, ugly fat woman who always chewed something on the sly."
    • Further in the film, there is a small conflict between Kiryanova and the foreman about the fact that it was not necessary to shoot the paratrooper, and the next day the major, Vaskov’s boss, inspecting the downed plane, offers to present Osyanina for an award, which she refuses, and asks the foreman: “ Why did they need to scout your location? ”, - hinting at subsequent events in the film. This plot was not in the book.
    • Liza Brichkina, according to the book, was from the Bryansk region, according to the film, she comes from the Vologda region, hence her “okay” dialect.
    • In the book about the death of Galya Chetvertak, Vaskov tells Rita and Zhenya. In the film, the girls bury their murdered friend, which is subsequently reported to the foreman.
    • In the book, Vaskov captures four saboteurs, and kills the fifth, who tried to rush to the weapon, with the last cartridge from the revolver. In the film, one of the remaining four tries to kill Vaskov, still getting to the weapon, but the foreman is ahead of him and kills him from a machine gun, which he takes from the just shot saboteur, as a result of which only three Germans are captured, including the group commander (in the rank of chief lieutenant) (in the book about the capture by Vaskov, the commander of the saboteurs is not mentioned).
    • In the book, the son of Rita Osyanina was called Albert (Alik), and Igor was the name of Vaskov's son, who died in the village before the war ("my mother did not save"). In the film, Igor's name is precisely the son of Osyanina. In addition, Vaskov, his adoptive father, he calls "dad" (in the book - "tya").

characteristics of the heroes "and the dawns here are quiet"

    1. Fedot Vaskov

Fedot Vaskov was already in the Finnish War, and now he is protecting the rear of the Soviet troops. He is the commandant of the section, to which, after lengthy requests to send non-drinking and non-walking fighters, they sent very young girls who had barely crossed the school threshold.
Vaskov is the only survivor of his entire squad, but he lost his arm, bringing the infection into the wound.

There are no direct indications in the book that Vaskov serves in the air defense. Anti-aircraft gunners were sent to the facility to protect against air raids. During the Winter War, Vaskov was a scout.
      Zhenya Komelkova

A very beautiful red-haired girl, the rest of the heroines were amazed at her beauty. Tall, slender, with fair skin. When the Germans captured the village of Zhenya, an Estonian managed to hide Zhenya herself. In front of the girl's eyes, the Nazis shot her mother, sister and brother.
In Vaskov's platoon, Zhenya showed artistry; but there was enough space for heroism, it was she who, causing fire on herself, leads the Germans away from Rita and Vaskov. She saves Vaskov when he fights with the second German who killed Sonya Gurvich. The Germans first wounded and then shot her point-blank.

In the film, the role of Komelkova was played by actress Olga Ostroumova.
      Rita Osyanina

Rita Mushtakova was the first of the class to marry Lieutenant Osyanin, from whom she gave birth to a son, Albert. Rita's husband died during a counterattack on June 23, 1941.
In Vaskov's platoon, Rita became friends with Zhenya Komelkova and Galya Chetvertak. She died last, putting a bullet in her temple and thereby saving Fedot Vaskov. Before she died, she asked him to take care of her son.
      Liza Brichkina

Lisa Brichkina is a simple village girl who is under pressure from her father. At the same time, a hunter-traveler comes to their house, with whom Lisa falls in love. But not experiencing mutual feelings for Liza, and seeing at the same time in what conditions the girl grows up, he invites her to come to the capital and enter a technical school. But to become a student of Lisa did not succeed, the war began.
Lisa drowned in a swamp while on assignment for Sergeant Vaskov, for whom she had love feelings.
      Galya Chetvertak
Galina Chetvertak introduces herself to Marion Dixon (frame from Rostotsky's film)

Galya grew up in an orphanage. There she got her nickname for her short stature.
During the battle with the Germans, Vaskov took Galya with him, but she, unable to withstand the nervous tension of waiting for the Germans, ran out of hiding and was shot dead by the Nazis. Despite such a ridiculous death, the foreman told the girls that she died in a shootout.
      Sonya Gurvich

Sonya Gurvich is a girl who grew up in a large Jewish family. She knew German and could have been a good translator, but there were many translators, so she was sent to the anti-aircraft gunners (who, in turn, were few).
Sonya is the second German victim in Vaskov's platoon. She runs away from the others to find and return Vaskov's pouch, and stumbles upon patrol saboteurs who killed Sonya with two stab wounds in the chest.

    2. Zhenya is a red-haired beautiful girl. She is distinguished by her artistry and extraordinary charm. Her friends admire her. However, the important qualities of her character are strength and fearlessness. In war, she is also driven by a desire for revenge. Characteristics of the heroes of the work The Dawns Here Are Quiet are associated with their destinies. Each of the characters is a person with their own sad story. Most of the girls had their parents taken away by the war. But the fate of Zhenya is especially tragic, because the Germans shot her mother, sister and brother in front of her eyes. Of the girls, she is the last to die. Leading the Germans away, she suddenly thinks about how stupid it is to die at the age of eighteen. The Germans shot her at close range, and then peered into her beautiful proud face for a long time.
      20:45:58
Fedot Vaskov Sergeant major went through the Finnish War. He was married and had a child. But by the beginning of the Patriotic War, he became an absolutely lonely man. The wife is gone. The young son died. And there was not a person in the whole world who would yearn for Vaskov, would wait for him from the front and hope that he would survive in this war. But he survived.
Rita Osyanina She seemed older than other girls. Rita was the only mother from a platoon of anti-aircraft gunners who died in those days in the Karelian forests. She gives the impression of a more serious and reasonable person compared to other girls. After being seriously wounded, Rita shot herself in the temple, thereby saving the life of the foreman. Characteristics of the heroes of the story The Dawns Here are a quiet description of the characters and a brief background of the pre-war years. Unlike her friends, Osyanina managed to get married and even give birth to a son. The husband died at the very beginning of the war. And the war did not give her a son to raise.
Lisa Brichkina is a girl from Siberia who was brought up without a mother and, like any young woman, dreamed of love. Therefore, when meeting with an elderly officer Vaskov, a feeling awakens in her. The foreman will never know about him. Fulfilling his task, Lisa drowns in a swamp.
Galina Chetvertak is a former pupil of the orphanage. She did not lose anyone during the war, because in the whole world she did not have a single soul. But she so wanted to be loved and have a family that she indulged in dreams with self-forgetfulness. Rita died first. And when the bullet overtook her, Mom shouted out a word that she had not called a single woman in her lifetime. Once Sonya Gurvich had parents, brothers and sisters. During the war, all members of a large Jewish family perished. Sonya was left alone. This girl differed from others in refinement and education. Gurvich died when she returned for a pouch, forgotten by the foreman.
    3. "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" is a work that describes interesting female images. Sonya, Galya, Lisa, Zhenya, Rita - five different, but in some ways very similar girls. Rita Osyanina is gentle and strong-willed, distinguished by spiritual beauty. She is the most fearless, courageous, she is a mother. Zhenya Komelkova is white-skinned, red-haired, tall, with childish eyes, always laughing, cheerful, mischievous to the point of adventurism, tired of pain, war and painful and long love for a married and distant person. Sonya Gurvich is an excellent student, a refined poetic nature, as if she came out of a book of poems by Alexander Blok. Liza Brichkina always knew how to wait, she knew that she was destined for life, and it was impossible to bypass her. The latter, Galya, always lived more actively in the imaginary world than in the real one, therefore she was very afraid of this merciless terrible phenomenon, which is war. "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" depicts this heroine as a funny, never matured, clumsy, childish orphanage girl. Escape from the orphanage, notes and dreams ... about long dresses, solo parts and universal worship. She wanted to become the new Lyubov Orlova.

Galya Chetvertak is an orphan, a pupil of an orphanage. In the orphanage she got her nickname for her short stature. Dreamer. She lived in the world of her own fantasies, and went to the front with the conviction that war is romance. After the orphanage, Galya got into the library technical school. The war caught her in her third year. On the first day of the war, their entire group was sent to the military commissar. Everyone was assigned, but Galya did not fit anywhere either in age or height. During the battle with the Germans, Vaskov took Galya with him, but she, unable to withstand the nervous tension of waiting for the Germans, ran out of hiding and was shot dead by the Nazis. Despite such a "ridiculous" death, the foreman told the girls that she died "in a shootout."

Rita is strict, she never laughs, she just moves her lips a little, but her eyes remain serious. "Rita was not one of the smart ones ...". Rita Mushtakova was the first of the class, out of great love, to marry senior lieutenant Osyanin, from whom she gave birth to a son, Albert. And there was no happier girl in the world. At the outpost, she was immediately elected to the women's council and enrolled in all circles. Rita learned to bandage the wounded and shoot, ride a horse, throw grenades and defend against gases, and then ... war. On the very first day of the war, she was one of the few who did not lose her head, did not panic. She was generally calm and thoughtful. Rita's husband died on the second day of the war during a counterattack on June 23, 1941. Upon learning that her husband is dead, she goes to war instead of her husband to protect her little son, who was left with his mother. They wanted to send Rita to the rear, and she asked to fight. She was persecuted, stuffed by force into the wagons, but the stubborn wife of the deceased deputy chief of the outpost, Senior Lieutenant Osyanin, reappeared at the headquarters of the fortified area a day later. In the end, they took me as a nurse, and six months later they sent me to the regimental anti-aircraft school. The authorities appreciated the unsmiling widow of the hero-border guard: they noted it in orders, set it as an example, and therefore respected the personal request - to send, after graduation, to the site where the outpost stood, where her husband died in a fierce bayonet battle. Now Rita could consider herself satisfied: she had achieved what she wanted. Even the death of her husband went somewhere in the farthest corner of her memory: Rita had a job, and she learned to hate quietly and mercilessly ... In Vaskov's platoon, Rita became friends with Zhenya Komelkova and Galya Chetvertak. She died last, putting a bullet in her temple and thereby saving Fedot Vaskov. Before she died, she asked him to take care of her son. The death of Rita Osyanina is psychologically the most difficult moment in the story. Boris Vasiliev very accurately conveys the state

Sonya Gurvich is a girl who grew up in a large friendly Jewish family. Sonya is from Minsk. Her father was a local doctor. She herself studied for a year at Moscow University, knew German well. A neighbor from lectures, Sonya's first love, with whom they spent only one unforgettable evening in the park of culture, volunteered for the front. Knowing German, she could have been a good translator, but there were many translators, so she was sent to the anti-aircraft gunners (who, in turn, were few). The protagonist of Boris Lvovich Vasiliev's story "The Dawns Here Are Quiet...".

Sergeant Major Fedot Vaskov is the commandant of the 171st patrol in the Karelian wilderness. The crews of the anti-aircraft installations of the siding, getting into a quiet environment, begin to toil from idleness and get drunk. In response to Vaskov's requests to "send non-drinkers", the command sends two squads of anti-aircraft gunners there ... Fedot graduated from four classes of the regimental school, and in ten years he rose to the rank of foreman. Vaskov experienced a personal drama: after the Finnish war, his wife left him. Vaskov demanded his son through the court and sent him to his mother in the village, but the Germans killed him there. The foreman always feels older than his years. The peasant's mind, the peasant's leaven is emphasized by the author in the "gloomy foreman" Fedot Vaskov. “Strong reticence”, “peasant slowness”, special “male solidity” since “the only peasant in the family remained - and the breadwinner, and the drinker, and the breadwinner”. “Old man” and “mossy stump, who has twenty words in reserve, and even those from the charter” behind his back call the thirty-two-year-old Vaskov his subordinate anti-aircraft gunners. “All his life Fedot Evgrafovich carried out orders. He did it literally, quickly and with pleasure. He was the gear of a huge, carefully tuned mechanism. Having come across with their "search group" of five "girls with three-rulers in an embrace" on sixteen armed fascist thugs from head to toe, rushing through the Sinyukhin ridge to the Kirov railway, to the "canal named after. comrade Stalin”, Vaskov “hid his confusion. He thought and thought, tossed and turned with his heavy brains, sucked all the possibilities of the upcoming deadly meeting. From his military experience, he knew that “playing hovanki with a German is almost like playing with death”, that the enemy “must be beaten. Beat until he crawls into the lair, ”without pity, without mercy. Understanding how difficult it is for a woman, who always gives birth to life, to kill, taught, explained: “These are not people. Not people, not people, not even animals - fascists. Look at it accordingly."
