Only fully ripe berries should be eaten. They are soft, green-brown on the outside and transparent, jelly-like on the inside. Feijoa fruits should be stored in the refrigerator, as overripe berries can quickly deteriorate, ferment from the inside - the flesh acquires a brownish tint and an unpleasant odor. Neither overripe nor green berries should be eaten.
