English for the little ones is an exclusive author's program designed specifically for your children, which will teach your child English without rules and cramming. Preschool teaching English is a very important stage in the development of a child’s personality, because... Children from one to three years old absorb everything new like a sponge, and the result will not be long in coming - the child will simply speak English as his native language. In the future, knowing one foreign language from such an early age will help your child both in learning other foreign languages and in broadening his horizons and understanding the world.

We use a gaming technique and take into account the nuances of age - features of thinking, attention, memory. Professional teachers will not let your child get bored; they will involve him headlong in the process of mastering a different language reality and combine this with playing, singing and creativity. English for preschoolers is learning with passion!

Course duration:

Depending on the child's starting level. For children over one year old, the duration of the lesson is 45 minutes, and starting from 2.5 years old - 60 or 90 minutes. The duration of the lesson can also be determined individually, taking into account your wishes and the recommendations of the methodologist.

English from cradle

The sooner a child begins to learn a new language, the better this will affect the quality of his English speech, the richer, more literate and freer it will be. They will never have the difficulties in learning a language that adults face.

We present to you a step-by-step program "English for the little ones" specially developed by our company. The program is developed as a combination of the most effective methods of Pingu's English, Get Ready Oxford, Potato Pals, Family and Friends courses and advanced domestic programs for preschoolers, and allows not only to achieve impressive results in learning English for children, but also to significantly develop children's knowledge of mathematics, history, the structure of the world and nature.

Materials used in the course "English for preschoolers"

In our work we use video materials specially created for the little ones:

  • Muzzy in Gondoland,
  • Gogo's adventure with English,
  • Disney magic English.

And audio materials:

  • Family and Friends,
  • Get Ready Oxford.

Our teachers take their task of working with children seriously and responsibly, and conduct English lessons for children in a way that is interesting for them. Children sculpt and draw, developing creatively, play, engage in physical exercises, learn about design - and all this while continuing to learn English in a variety of life situations. Of course, new words are remembered much better this way.

English for kids in a group

Group classes are usually held for 4-6 people, and this form of training helps children not only relax and communicate with each other, but also learn to help and interact in a variety of situations.

Moreover, with such a group you can develop a script, stage a production, or hold a competition. This is how the course “English for the Little Ones” becomes much more interesting, a competitive element appears, and trust in others develops.

In a small group setting, the teacher can closely monitor each child's learning progress.

English for kids individually

The individual form of classes allows you to pay maximum attention to the child, determine his interests, choose a unique methodology and the appropriate pace that will be optimal for the learning of a particular child.

Teaching English to preschoolers, our certified teachers understand that a small child cannot concentrate on one activity for a long time, and therefore carefully monitor his interest and readiness to perceive information, otherwise distracting him with a walk or sports warm-up, offering the form of classes that he is interested.

English for the little ones - bilingual (bilingual) development

Bilingualism is much easier for children than adults, so it’s worth starting to teachEnglish for kidsas soon as possible. At our school, all the conditions have been selected so that, having started learning English from the cradle, by the age of five, the child can think freely and speak two languages at once. This significantly develops the child’s brain and helps to significantly increase vocabulary.

Even just spending some time in a bilingual environment, the child remembers new words without tedious cramming and any marks, going about his business and exploring the world. The baby will learn the structure of the language without linguistic dictionaries and constructions, learn to correctly perceive rhythm, understand word formation and remember the structure of sentences.

So, unconsciously, he will learn English for the little ones along with his native language, and already at the age of 4-5 years he will have a solid store of knowledge that will help him make his speech literate, with a rich vocabulary, and free expression of feelings and thoughts and needs.

You can supplement this course with classes in the programs “English with a native speaker for children” and “Creating in English”.

We also offer classes for children from 1 to 6 years old in the Mini Club half-day kindergarten format.

Hello! Dear readers! Remember the famous method of learning English from Dr. Pimsleur? So, brilliant parents give birth to talented children. His daughter, Julia Pimsleur Levine, followed in her father’s footsteps and in 2007 created and released a video English language course for children, “Little Pim”. The course very quickly became one of the most popular, and numerous copies were literally snapped up from store shelves.

English for kids with little PIM

The fact is that the program of this unique technique is designed for the youngest - from 0 to 6 years. That is, from infants to preschoolers, they can use this course to quickly, interestingly and effectively learn English. The Little Pim course currently contains 3 thematic parts:

  1. Eating and Drinking (About drinks and food)
  2. Wake Up Smiling (Wake up and smile)
  3. Playtime (Time for fun and games)

All three parts of the Little Pim program for the tiniest children are entirely in English. Each part of “Little Pim” contains 7 episodes, lasting about 5 minutes. In total, each disc lasts no more than 40 minutes. During this time, children get the opportunity to become acquainted with about 60 of the most common new words and phrases that are often used in everyday life.

"Little Pim" helps children

Animated educational lessons through the mouth of little Pim, a funny cartoon panda, talk about everyday, everyday actions (bathing, eating, playing, personal hygiene) and surrounding objects and things in a playful way. Little Pim gratefully accepts help from other real-life little helpers.

When the characters pronounce a new word, you can see its graphic spelling in English on the screen. Little Pim bear attracts the attention of the youngest children to video and audio information, and the little student, without realizing it, remembers a lot of new expressions in English. For children, this form of presenting new material is the most understandable and accessible for learning.

A small series of videos of the “Little Pim” course, a lot of bright and vibrant colors, and unobtrusive music in the background keep children interested in the program. With regular revision of the series, the English vocabulary contained in the course is easily absorbed by children and their parents. So watch the educational video with your baby and learn the language together.

The benefits of early learning English (as well as any other language) are spoken and written everywhere.

Now even in kindergartens they study English. Classes are offered in almost any children's development center. Tutors for preschoolers with a specialty in English are in high demand. And this is all clear. In childhood, information is remembered better, neural connections are quickly established, and the learning process seems exciting to the baby.

You can start practicing right from the cradle. We didn't start very early. Probably because I didn’t know which side to approach. This material is for mothers like me. Those who understand that “after three it’s too late,” but don’t know how to take the first steps towards learning a language.

Progress of the lesson: individual for you and your child. You can find many recommendations. Some people recommend setting aside a certain time for a lesson (40-60 minutes) and during this time speaking only in English. For some, classes are a vinaigrette of Russian and English (the richer you are, the happier you are). If your language level allows, you can try the first option.

Classes that are periodically conducted by the teacher, as a rule, for children have the following structure:

1. Welcome song. The song should always be the same so that the child associates it with the beginning of the lesson. Here's our welcome song:

And here is a video from classes in which the same song is used. Pay attention to the teacher's attitude! When a teacher is cheerful, makes contact with pleasure, “throws out things” (within limits, of course) - this is wonderful.

You can choose your own by searching “Hello song” in YouTube. It is important that the song is short - it is just a start to start the lesson.

2. After the introduction there is a block that reinforces the basic material. It begins with an introduction (if new “students” have appeared in the group), with the repetition of greeting phrases and words indicating the state.

— What is your name?

— My name is Dasha. (I'm Dasha).

- How are you?

— I’m fine/wonderful/good/etc.

Kids not only answer the question, but also ask these questions to their neighbor (communication takes place in a circle). If you are doing one-on-one tutoring, have your child ask you.

Here's another great short song to play at this stage.

Please note that each “state” is accompanied by some kind of movement. Take these movements into service, repeat after the characters of the song and let the baby repeat too. Thus, along with visual-motor perception, the memorization of words will also improve, and another connection will arise that helps the child perceive new things.

Here are the words of this song and the actions in brackets:

Hello, hello. [we wave first with one hand, then with the other]
Can you clap your hands? [clap our hands]
Hello, hello.
Can you clap your hands?
Can you stretch up high? [reach towards the ceiling]
Can you touch your toes? [bend over and touch our toes with our hands]
Can you turn around? [turn around]
Can you say, "Hello"? [we wave to each other and say “Hello”]
Hello, hello.
Can you stamp your feet? [stomping feet]
Hello, hello.
Can you stamp your feet?
Can you stretch up high?
Can you touch your toes?
Can you turn around?
Can you say, "Hello"?
Hello, hello.
Can you clap your hands?
Hello, hello.
Can you stamp your feet?

3. Reinforcing words from the previous lesson. We have already accumulated a whole folder with materials that were given to our daughter in class. Sometimes they ask to bring it to remember some things from previous lessons.

4. Learning new words and expressions.

Program for first lessons: /vegetables, toys, counting. If the lesson falls on a holiday, you can link them and make a thematic lesson. For example, wonderful themes about Halloween, Christmas, Mother's Day. This is how children also become familiar with a foreign culture.

I will post lessons on the first topics later. I will only say about the form of presentation of the material. In order for children to develop and maintain interest, new material is presented in a playful way. These are crafts, drawing, games with characters, games with pictures, the use of various “channels” of perception (for example, when studying fruits, children tried these fruits with their eyes closed and guessed).

This main part of the lesson, in turn, can also be divided into 2-3 blocks, and between the blocks you can do active physical education (so that the kids can be distracted, warm up, and relieve fatigue from sitting at the table). For example, a song would do "Head Shoulders Knees & Toes" and others that can be found upon request "exercise song for kids":

5. Bye-bye song. A song that means the lesson is over. As a rule, she is also the only one chosen and always serves as a guide for the child that the English lesson has come to an end. Here is an example of such a song:

English in everyday life

If your periodic lessons go well, then the baby develops an interest in language, which he expresses in everyday life. He can say phrases in English, count, name things, ask you to say “how it would be in English” about any occasion. Rejoice if everything really happens like this. And never - never!- do not try to “get rid of” the child’s questions by saying “I don’t know that.” It’s better to say: “Let’s go together and look for the answer to your question in the dictionary/on the Internet.”

What do we do additionally?

  • We learn words using the Doman Cards mobile application in English (links to GooglePlay, AppStore). Here is a video from our classes. My daughter remembers words surprisingly easily! It’s enough to turn it on for literally a minute or two (and don’t forget to update the set of memory cards).

  • We play songs and cartoons in English at home so that our daughters can hear English (from native speakers). She learns songs by heart, tries to imitate onomatopoeia (even without knowing the words, just following the motive and rhythm - sometimes it’s very funny).
  • We play a board game in English (where you have to move chips). My daughter loves to play, she herself asks “let’s do it in English” and corrects me if I start counting in Russian. This repeats the count to 6 and a few words from the course of the game.
  • I myself began to repeat English every day so that I could share my knowledge with my daughter.

Have fun and productive activities! Remember that it’s better not to put it off, but to start, even if it’s a couple of minutes, but to study right now!

I would like to dedicate this article of my blog to the topic of English for very young children. Many parents believe that if they themselves do not speak English or do not know it at a sufficient level, as they think, then their baby is not necessary; in any case, in the future, by studying with tutors and teachers at school, he will be able to achieve results in this area.

However, they do not think about a very important point, which Masaru Ibuka and Shichida, famous innovators in the field of early childhood development, mentioned in their works. I'll tell you what the point is.

Each language has its own wave frequency. The languages of the European group are close to each other in frequency, the Russian language is close to Ukrainian and Belarusian, but Chinese and Japanese are on a completely different level.

Initially, when a child under one year old hears the voices of his parents and the voices of other people, he can only distinguish between different levels of sound waves and may try to adapt to any of the waves heard above. When a child begins to speak, he has already completely adjusted to the sound of his parents’ voice, thereby choosing the language that will be considered native to him. If he has multilingual parents, then the baby will speak fluently in 2 languages and will consider them native.

Therefore, Shichida and Masaru Ibuka advise from the very birth of a child to include different languages in his life, especially those that are difficult to understand and different in frequency from the Russian language.

While the baby’s brain is growing rapidly and absorbing all the information that surrounds him, with special effort, be sure to fill his life with English, and if possible, other languages.

How to start training with the little ones?

Audio

When the baby is 2-3 months old, you can slowly include English in his life. Start with simple musical lullabies, poems, simple dialogues in English. From time to time, turn on music, dialogues, songs, rhymes, videos or cartoons: let them go in the background. The baby will listen and tune in to the frequency of the English language. For example, here you can download a good CD with songs in English - click on the picture:

Very good disk and books with assignments:

Video for babies up to one year old

When a child reaches 1 year or so, books, flashcards and the first small cartoons and video programs with teaching English can be included in his life. Here you can download for free the Your Baby Can Read CDs, developed by the American doctor Robert Titzer. There are three parts posted on the root tracker. There are 5 parts in total, and they also include cards with words and pictures for the video.

The film itself is intended for children from 3 months to 5 years. From my personal experience, I advise you to start watching a video film no earlier than 6 months.

In addition, do not watch the entire video film at once, but in small pieces throughout the day. Each disc is intended for daily viewing for 1-2 months, depending on the child’s digestibility of the material. You can check the results using the cards that come with these discs. Songs and poems are very important for children's understanding of the English language. With an older child, you can learn short poems in English. For example, you can learn or sing “Good Night” songs and poems in English with your baby. Surely the child is already familiar with the song “Good Night” in Russian, which is present in the program “Good Night, Kids”. You can take an analogue of the song in English and sing it: the music and lyrics of “Good Night” will already be familiar.

Educational literature for little ones

For children from 4 to 6 years old there is a very good series of English books for kids by N.A. Bonk and I.A. Bonk. This includes a textbook, a workbook, handouts, audio materials, games, song scenes, and even copybooks. The Bonk textbook is a completely new technique. In Bonk's manuals, all texts are based on speech patterns of the language, which makes them possible to use even for study in universities.

Textbook “English for junior schoolchildren” by I.A. Shishkova, M.E. Verbovskaya is intended for children in primary school. Set by I.A. Shishkov, M.E. Verbovskaya includes a 2-part textbook, a workbook and CDs with recordings. The textbook “English for junior schoolchildren” was completed by I.A. Shishkova, M.E. Verbovskaya, edited by N.A. Bonk, so the methods in them are largely similar. I.A. Shishkova, M.E. Verbovskaya offer game-based teaching methods that help children successfully cope with learning a foreign language. Lessons given to children by I.A. Shishkova, M.E. Verbovskaya, will certainly be useful to your child.

To learn the English alphabet, you can use lessons on videos and cartoons given by the children's favorite hero Luntik. There are video games and cartoons where Luntik tells children about what letters exist and how they are pronounced. Luntik sometimes does not act alone: his faithful friends from the cartoon help him. Video games, lessons and cartoons, where Luntik teaches the English alphabet with the guys, will probably be useful to you. You can download video games and cartoons in which Luntik acts.

So, if you want your child to know a foreign language well, use games, poems, songs, cartoons, and the alphabet in pictures from an early age. Immersion in the language environment will definitely yield results.

Modern parents, who care about the bright future of their children, are increasingly faced with the following question: when, how and where to start learning English with their child?

And not without reason, because knowledge of a foreign language, especially English, makes dreams of such a future closer.

English language: when to start?

You can start learning a language at any age, but the most favorable period is the age from 1.5 to 9-10 years. In this fairly wide time period, the child’s involuntary memory is best developed. He is able to remember everything “on the fly,” as they say, on an intuitive level, without making much effort.

There are methods that allow you to start learning from the cradle, even when the baby does not speak his native language. It has been proven that any early learning of foreign languages bears fruit. Psychologists believe that such a child is truly ahead of his peers in his mental development. But not in an emotional way, so in your desire to raise a genius, do not forget that every child needs a carefree and joyful childhood, and he needs live communication and a smile more than a perfect knowledge of the English alphabet at 2 years old.

Children's language abilities

Does the child have the ability to learn languages? Will time and effort be wasted? Imagine: the baby is already drawing a little with pencils. Will he be able to paint with a brush and paints? Naturally! After all, he is already drawing. So it is with language. The baby is already beginning to communicate in his native language, which means he has a talent for languages! Of course, for perfect command of a foreign language, specific talents are required, as in any other fields of science and art. But if we are talking about learning a language to expand their general horizons in order to have a strong foundation for the further development of language skills and abilities, any child can do this.

What skills should a child have to start learning English?

To learn foreign languages, every child must be able to listen, see, repeat (at least in his own way), draw, run, crawl, jump, etc. A foreign language with small children is always a game. And any child can play. Important: he must know in his native language what he has to learn in English! You should not learn colors in English if your child does not understand them yet.

How and where to study English

You can study a language at home, with your parents, or in a children's studio, or invite a nanny-tutor who speaks a foreign language. It makes sense to send a child to a children's studio if he is 4-5 years old or older. At this age, learning in a team will be beneficial. Young children under 3 years old, as a rule, have not yet acquired the skills of playing together or fully communicating with peers, so it is better to study with them at home.

If at least one of the parents has a conversational level of language proficiency, the best option would be to communicate with the baby from birth in two languages. For example, an English-speaking father and a Russian-speaking mother. Growing up in a linguistic environment, a child quickly acquires communication skills in a foreign language. In this case, both languages will be native to the baby.

Do mom and dad only remember a couple of words and phrases from the school English course, or have they studied another language before? Not scary. There are textbooks for kids and their parents with detailed methodological tips and pronunciation instructions. There are many Internet sites where you can download audio recordings in English and texts for them absolutely free. And parents are given a wonderful opportunity to learn English themselves and teach their child.

English from scratch for children: where to start?

It makes no sense for young children to start learning a language from the alphabet. Especially if they have not yet mastered the technique of reading in their native language. The main goal of parents should be: to instill in their child an interest and love for a foreign language, and then expect great results.

Based on this goal, you need to start with what arouses the baby’s interest. The theme “Animals”, “Toys”, “Household Items” will be a great start. It is convenient to use visual aids - cards for teaching children a language. You can buy them or make them yourself in accordance with the child’s level of knowledge and interests.

It’s not a bad idea to look at books, even if they’re in Russian. The main thing is to name what is shown in the pictures in English. In addition to nouns denoting objects and animals, you need to teach the child during normal communication the most common verbs and verb phrases, such as give me, take, come to me, look at, etc. Cartoons, songs, poems in English will develop the child’s linguistic hearing .

Training should be unobtrusive and the child should like it. The duration of classes is from 5 to 15 minutes. The younger the child, the shorter the lesson. It is important to finish your “lesson” before your child gets tired and starts to get distracted, so that he wants to return to this type of activity again.

How to teach a child to think in English

There are different methods and different approaches to teaching children foreign languages. Some classical methods have a strong theoretical basis. It is described in detail in scientific works, pedagogical monographs and works. In its pure form, the step-by-step learning of English “from words to grammar” was used in Soviet schools. Most private English courses for children and tutors follow this method. In practice, all this theoretical baggage turns out to be not very effective.

English for children, especially the little ones, should be fun! It should not become a subject of study and cramming, but a full-fledged means of communication. What method has proven to be so effective that just 3-6 months after the start, the guys not only speak fluently in a foreign language, but also think in it?

An innovative method for teaching English to children in Russia is the communicative approach. In essence, it is practical communication with a native speaker or teacher who is fluent in English. The main focus is on speaking and listening. The technique is known and successfully used in the West. In Russia, the pioneer (and monopolist) of innovative technology was the network of Children's Language Centers "Polyglotiki", which has existed since 2006. This unique author’s technique was first used by the founder of the Polyglotics centers in the cultural capital of St. Petersburg and was a stunning success. Today "Polyglotiki" is an international network with 60 branches in dozens of different cities in Russia and neighboring countries.

All English language courses for children offered at the Centers for study from 2 to 12 years of age are based on communicative methods with elements of the classical approach. Maximum immersion in a foreign language environment naturally stimulates bilingualism in a child, and not only... After all, he learns both the basics of the language itself and begins to easily understand mathematics, natural sciences, literature and creative tasks in English. This means it is developing comprehensively!

The main goal of Polyglot teachers is to teach a child to perceive language, speak, and then think in it. No mechanical repetitions! Only improvised game tasks in English, creative skits, demonstrations, musical and cartoon shows, colorful cards and posters, gestures, facial expressions and communication with a native speaker. This is how English for children develops not only memory, but also intelligence and logic! And new knowledge contributes to the development of mental abilities and successful further education of children in Russian and foreign schools.

You need to return to English lessons at least 3 times a week so that the acquired knowledge is firmly entrenched. And, of course, this new “English game” for the child should bring him joy and pleasure!
